    My surgery date is coming

So what would happen if you, heaven forbid, had a heart attack? I am also at “ at will” employee as is my entire company and most places I have worked. I would say that you need some time of for a medically necessary surgery and leave it at that. Talk to your new HR person. Often at start ups the boss is ignorant of all the intricacies of employee relations and Your HR person may be better equipped to advise him/ her. Also the HR is not able to disclose any personal information you share. My HR office knows I was out for surgery but has no idea what it was. There is something wrong if you can’t take a week or two off for medical and live in fear of your losing job, even at a start up!

    My surgery date is coming

Although I work for a larger not for profit, your medical records are private and between you and the insurance company. My doctor also had non- Bariatric stationary for my note with something like Advanced Laprascopic Surgery on it so for all anyone know you had an appendectomy or gall bladder removed. Btw, I had my surgery on a Monday and aside from being tired coil have gone to work by Thursday.

Post op pain - be honest

Only shoulder pain the day of surgery, more of an deep ache than pain. Did 9,000 steps in hospital morning after surgery and was released. Did not take any pain meds at home, only some liquid Tylenol for a headache. Only incision pain was from one spot irritated by my bra. Sent my husband back to work the day I got home and my daughter back to camp. I’ve been in way more pain from a back spasm!!!!! Listen to your body and relax. You’ll do great!!!!
  5. I was sleeved on 8/27. On a pre-surgery visit I was waiting to see my Dr. There were health/ exercise mags and one food mag with a beautiful dessert on the cover. One my Dr. walked in, I held up the mag and said “. Really??? Does this belong here?” He laughed and said “. You life is not over after the sleeve. You’re going to live in a real world with real food choices. You’ll still be able to enjoy some of the foods you fo now, but as occasional treats in moderation.” Only three weeks out know only the restriction but none of the joys of weight loss success. I’m sure by next year at the fair, the new successful you, will be able to have a few bites of everything. Then when you get home you will drink your water and hit the treadmill! When you see how far you’ve come at your one month check-up I’m sure it will more then make-up for the corn dog.
  6. I’m only about 10 days out myself and dreaming of foods I can’t have. Some of them are things I rarely ate! As intense as these feelings are right now I’m assuming they will diminish some over time and be replaced by a feeling of accomplishment as we watch the scale go down and our health improves! My last Dr. visit before surgery there were some food magazines in the exam room, one featuring a beautiful dessert. When the Dr. came in I held up the mag, looked at him and said: Seriously???? He laughed and said “ Look. Your life is not over after surgery. You will be able to enjoy some of the things you Love now in moderation. “. We’re so new to this right now all we know is restriction. I’ve heard that your taste will sometimes change after surgery so once you try the foods you’re craving once again you might not even like them as much. For now focus on this wonderful opportunity we’ve been given and what we can do, not what we can’t have. I bet there’s some savory bites of a samosa in your future after which you will drink your water and hit the treadmill !!!Hang in there!!! I know it will get easier!

    Surgery on Tuesday

Hello! First, you’re gonna do great! I was sleeved on 8-27 and by 8-31was completely back to my normal routine! Surgery day was fine; all the good hospital meds. The morning after my nurses gave me a pedometer and told me to walk, which I did. I was a sore and the gas was uncomfortable, but not painful. If the Dr. says it’s ok...Walk, walk, walk!!!!! I did not take any oral painkillers after I came off IV as they usually make pretty sick, and did not need them. I did take some liquid Tylenol for a bad headache on the third day and that did the trick. I have Barimelt Vitamins and so far so good. Good luck! By next Saturday this will be behind you and you’ll be well on your journey!

    August surgery ppl

So, on vacation with my family in Virginia. Not “ dieting” per se, but being careful and getting in at least 15,000 steps a day. I told myself I could have whatever I wanted, but oddly enough I don’t want much. No desire for ice cream or sweets even in an amazing chocolate shop. I’m anxious to get a jump start on the the whole wright loss process. Toying with the idea of going just with liquids the week before surgery(8-27). Have given up diet sodas and coffee. LOVE my Coke Zero so this has been super tough.
