    Freedom Fighters Weekly Weigh In

Well, my weight loss has slowed up - oh well! 3 weeks post op...dr appt friday! I can hardly wait for a first fill - but thats still 3 weeks away! Surgery 7/7: 244.7 Last week: 237.5 Today: 236.9 (big whoop - .6 down lol) Total so far: 25.8
  3. Hey Kim! Nice to hear from you! Im doing pretty good. Ya know, i'm 3 weeks post op and still on full liquids. So far, all i eat pretty much is creamy soups, protein drink, s/f jello or pudding and yogurt and crystal lite - so basically the same stuff you are. I go see the doctor for a post op appt on friday. I wont get my first fill for about 2 1/2 or 3 more weeks. I do feel good...and i do worry about starting to eat normal foods again - right now there is no restriction and after 5 weeks of eating like this, i'm just afriad of going overboard or hurting my insides!

I've played with a 8 lbs loss since surgery - up 1/2 a lb down 3/4's etc. but i can see myself losing--i guess inches..people are just starting to notice and say things (25 lbs you'd think someone would notice!)

I th ink once i have a fill and KNOW i can't overeat, maybe i'll calm down some lol.

Glad to hear your doing well! I just wish we could lose as quickly as i seem to put the weight ON ! LOL

    was your tummy swollen afterwards?

Yes! I'm 3 weeks post op and i definately had swelling around the tummy--around the incision areas...it has gone done somewhat now...but it was wierd to lose weight, yet have that area so "poufy"...i guess it is normal tho.

    Newbie banded on July 7th

Tracy---i responded to the question on another thread about challenges--you had a big one - mine is this weekend (parents 60th bd).....i'll be bringing my own soup to a dinner cruise! I was banded 7/7 too. I'm down 25 lbs. since pre op so I'm happy there....I wont get a fill until 6 weeks from surgery date...so many doctors are different on fills, food etc. But, its all good - and we're healthier already!

    Temptations

I have my challenge this Saturday---also my parents 60th anniversary. We arranged a party bus/limo and we're going on a 3 hour dinner cruise. The cruise does not serve soup of any type (im startign 3 weeks post op) so i actually have to bring my own soup and bowl! Granted, the charged me the childrens price ($50!) and i'll have them pack up my food for my other daughter who is staying home...but it will be a night of food and drinks..and I'll be there sipping whatever soup i bring!!!
  8. I hear ya...i'm still healing and i do feel that...i'm trying not to stress. I do hope to feel a restriction with the fill---but my dr wont do a fill for 6 weeks...wierd how these dr are so different. I've been eating cream of brocolli soup and there is an awesome tomato basil soup that is creamy and sooo good--they have i at Albertsons and Vons..not sure what grocery stores you have , but they are good. I've had cream of potato too. I got my kids some pizza last weekend..and i woudl have been so happy to sit and just off the toppings, lol not even the pizza crust! My treat is the s/f jello with some cool whip. Yum.

Well good luck with your fill! Take care.

I'll be glad when I can........

Love this... I'll be glad when i can: ** pass the plus size clothes stores ** stop taking diabetes meds ** Not worry about fitting into a ride at an amuzement park ** Not worry about squeezing in airplane seats ** Not be self conscious about being seen nude! ** Dress in super cute/sexy clothes ** Be able to go dance my A** off and not have people looking for the wrong reasons. ** Have the scale reflect 'ONDERLAND!' Smile
  10. Hello there! Are you still be banded tomorrow??? Good luck to you ! Get rest, take your pain meds and good luck with your new life!!!!! I'll be thinking of you!

  11. Hi there CeeCee. Well, Im doing pretty good..but my loss hasnt been as good post op as most of you guys...Im down 6 lbs. since surgery....i wonder what i'm doing differently....in any case, i dont feel any restriction, so i'll be anxiously awaiting my first fill. Im on "mushies" now...so i had some cottage cheese, lol Big whoop huh? :)

  12. Hello there! I'm doing ok thanks...Your right - i cant believe its been two weeks - starting this 3rd week now i'm allowed "mushies" = i'm still doing thicker soups....today i actually had some cottage cheese....The best part is my blood sugar levels have been pretty low - thats a good thing. In the past 2 weeks, I've only lost like 6 lbs....but in any normal diet, thats alot. Yet i'm sure others are losing more....i can see a slimmer face - thats exciting...and clothes are fitting nicer. but i really feel i have no restriction at all right now - i have a dr appt next friday but another 3 weeks after than before the first fill. Are your incisions healed up???

My turn! Surgery 7/7 Surgery Wt: 244.7 Todays Wt: 237. 5
  14. Ok....im probably not alone, but help please! I was banded on 7/7. On my pre op i lost 18lbs. So far, one week post op i'm down another 6lb. So the pre op and post op diets have been good for me. I'm looking forward to being off soup at some point..but....I am thinking ahead and i'm so afraid to start eating and having to make choices again! How do you forgo the protein drinks and eat normally and still lose weight??? This is so foreign to me! I'm so afraid that when i'm no longer restricted with my meals, that I will go b ack to chosing the wrong things and then will gain. Its been nice seeing the scale go down a little each day----it will flip me out to see a gain--yet, if i'm barely eating about 800 calories right now...once i start to eat normal every day food again---it seems to me I would gain. Granted....i guess i dont feel any restriction yet (dont get fill till week 6).... I guess i just need some of you seasoned bandsters to let me know its possible to eat regular people food (including carbs) and lose. I'm just afraid of failure i guess~~~i welcome any and all comments!
  15. Wow...great advise thank you! Do you just get regular chicken cook it up and make your own chicken salad? I'm such an on the go single mom of 2 that i dont have alot of time for myself....simpler the better. Wow..losing 27 lbs post op was huge! I'm only about 6 lbs down at 1 week, 2 days...but nice to know its "normal" to gain a few back...
  16. Thank you Sharon! You give me hope! I'm anxious for my first fill. I'm confident i can make good choices..i just so want to be successful here! I sure hope i recognize my "sweet spot" when i get there! lol.
  17. Jackie - thank you for this post! This is precisely what i needed to hear..that once i get a fill..and i can eat regular foods..that I'll be able to eat whatever (protein first of course) and be satisfied with small amounts of whatever it is! I have about 3 more weeks until i have any fill...but omg youve lost 40 lbs in such a short amount of time..im encouraged by your success! Thanks!
  18. Ya know, i try to stay off the scale but it just calls to me, lol....Actually im on my 2nd week post op - I'm on full liquids - having 2 protein drinks..supplemented by creamy soup, water, crystal lite an occasional s/f popsicle..just depends...I am staying with what they told me to have...
  19. Hmm....there was a tread on this site somewhere and alot of people went back to carbonated beverages..some didnt. Personal preference i guess....I can imagine taking small sips of a diet coke here and there (love them)...but defiantely not for awhile.....today i was actually UP 1.2 lbs. I was mad! How can that be? lol. Someone told me to stay off the scale - yet, thats hard to do. We went through this to ultimately lose weight..granted maybe i shouldnt weigh daily, but stay off the scale? Um.no. lol.

  20. Very good! Glad you persisted..you definately didnt need a weekend of pain!
  21. well heck..and today i jump on the scale, which has been slowly moving downward for the past 3 weeks...and i'm UP 1.2 lbs. I know that is a minimal amount--but UP??? When i'm still on full liquids and not eating a whole helluva lot? Grr! lol.

One week post op and Hungry!!

CeeCee: Hi there! I hear this. Last night i got into bed and my stomach was growling soooooooo much--yet i would never have gotten up to have anything. My doctor told me full liquids after day 1. Meaning creamy Soups, s/f pudding and my Protein drinks. I'm not sure why you would still need CLEAR liquids after one week...but protein would be key. Hmm are you taking the isopure that looks like a gatorade type drink? Man, i tried one of those and couldnt tolerate the aftertaste...I guess i'm also surprised you had staples....i got superglued, lol..and i'm grateful for no stitches. I'm sorry you are struggliing..but even with me being allowed to have these other things...it hasnt stopped my stomach from rumbling! Hang in there!
  23. My doctors nutritionist told us to take childrens chewable Vitamins (like the flintstones ones) - but to take 2. And to Vicatin (sp?) chewable calcium Vitamin chews. So thats what i take.
  24. My surgery was At Arcadia Methodist Hospital. Wow Donna! You've lost 54 lbs since April? Thats amazing.
