RSMKEM got a reaction from Healthy_life2 in Post op ladies who wear nail polish
I’m just over 6 months out and gel nails work way better for me. I have them re-done every 2-3 weeks as well. I keep them relatively short because if I don’t, they start to break and chip.

Update! Lol 😂 After “giving up” on making Goal#3 of 130lbs and upping my goal 3 to be 135lbs, calling maintenance, my weight started dropping over the past 2 weeks. This morning I woke up to 130.4lbs! Ha! I’m now calling Official Goal #3 Original (130lbs)!!! Let the “for reals” maintenance begin! And no illness was involved this time! Two weeks ago I was at 139, up from 134 after a 4day shenanigans week!! Feels so great!!!

May I suggest-- Do not go into the surgery looking forward to WHEN you can eat again.
Instead, concentrate on HOW you eat.
You MUST learn to have a new relationship with food. If you don't change that, you just might be setting yourself up to fail.
Before my surgery, besides being on this forum & reading about the experiences of those who have had the same surgery, I spent a lot of time watching videos on YouTube. There are so many! I have my favorites, of course, but I still check out others.
There are even photos of the actual surgery! Don't watch if you're the squeamish type. LOL!
My point is, you shouldn't go into this as if it's some magic wand. It's a tool. You still have to work.
You MUST get your HEAD in the game!

@Sheribear68 Ouch! So sorry to hear about your friend!!! ((hugs)) TG you are escaping that fate with every day of your lifestyle change!!!
I know how you feel and can relate! And for anyone who is genuinely interested in hearing my journey and not just a rubbernecker, I will discuss the specifics. But for anyone else who looks at me, there is no doubt that I'm somewhat fanatical religious about making good choices--cuz like you, we have some big strikes we deal with.
But sadly, no one likes reformed smokers or reformed alcoholics. So we do just have to live our lives. And sometimes the best testimony is through action rather than words. Live your life hon. Let your friends feel safe, coming to you when or if they are ready. ((hugs))

Oikos Triple Zero is the best that I’ve found. Two Good and YQ by Yoplait are also pretty decent.

I saw someone post once, "No one asked me the details about my weight gain or how I got there, so they don't need to know the details of my weight loss or how I'm getting there" LOL!
For me only my immediate family know as well as 3 close friends.

You’ll have to call your insurance company and find out what they cover and what they don’t. That’s your responsibility.

RSMKEM reacted to Screwballski in Nearly One Year Out...LOVING LIFE!
This post is really for the folks who are considering the sleeve, wondering if it will "work" for them, if they should take the leap...
This post is for the folks who just returned home from surgery or are several weeks out..the people who are starting to feel discouraged...didn't realize it would be so "hard".
And, this post is for the folks that have a bit to go before they reach that goal they set thinking the weight they REALLY want to be is unattainable!
First, the sleeve alone will not "work" for you unless you are willing to WORK with it! It's a tool not a cure. And, yes, it is often hard, especially in the beginning when you are creating new, successful solutions to combat old habits that got you where you used to be stuck. But, the very best things in life come from pushing through the hard moments. If you give up before you get to the top of the mountain, you don't get to enjoy the beautiful view. Trust me, it's spectacular when you get here. DO NOT GIVE UP!
Now, about that goal weight...if you are anything like me, you've lost and gained so many times you've become used to failure. You almost expect it. So maybe you set your goal weight at a number that seemed pretty reasonable. Attainable, even, right? And, perhaps, you told yourself that if you got anywhere near it, you'd be happy because, for goodness sake, it's soooo much better than where you started! It's a definite win! I did that. I let my pre-sleeve experience shape my goal. But that wasn't the number I truly wanted. Initially, I just didn't believe that I could ever get back to my teenage and 20's modeling weight. I mean, I'm a woman in my 50's! That could never happen, right?! So, I shot for 5 pounds over the top of the weight chart for my height.
Guess what happened as I was working my way down the scale, working my program, building strong/healthy eating habits, changing my relationship with food? I hit that goal! Then I shattered it! Then I continued on, logging every morsel of food I put in my body, every darn day!
I'm not even a full year out of surgery. But by working with my sleeve and using this tool to it's fullest potential, I weigh LESS than I did as a slim teenager! I'm 2 sizes smaller than my busiest period as a model in my 20's!
This tool requires sacrifice. But, you are only sacrificing the things that were dragging your body down in the first place. In fact, I look at it as finally showing ourselves the respect we've deserved all along.
You are so worth it. You absolutely deserve be healthy. Life is so much easier mentally and physically when you shed the weight that you are carrying.
It becomes easier every single day! Then the months fly by and it becomes routine. All of a sudden you realize your whole life is brighter, healthier, EASIER!
I put everything into getting where I am right now. I truly believe if you give it everything, the sleeve will give you your life back!
You absolutely deserve this! You are absolutely worth this! Don't let anyone make you feel/think differently!!!!
PS....Log everything every day! That's a game changer. Load an app (I use LOSEIT). Log everything. Never stop logging!
    Love to all!

First pic is from late June/early July around highest weight of 282.4. Second pic from today trying on clothes at 204.6. Pardon the weird face, that’s my “hmm should I get this?” face :)

I think my goal is to lose another 25-30 if I can :)

Hi Annie! I’m also Annie! Wow!

I’m a little over 7 months out and I’ve lost just about 80lbs. I originally was sure I wanted the sleeve, but after researching the statistics about regain and looking at my eating patterns and how those would be impacted by sleeve vs bypass, I chose bypass. If you have any questions about the bypass experience/the first year let me know! I just wanted to say hi from a fellow Annie :)

Will do! And I will second what you said about the educated consumer! My doctor and nurses were surprised that I was as educated as I was, because they’ve seen so many people go into this without all of the facts. That’s the stuff, I think, that makes for regrets later on.
