Hi all. Today was a milestone for me. Had sleeve surgery July 10th and today was my first big family get together. Lots of family and food. I am proud of myself. Asked ahead of time for chicken and veges I could eat. Stayed away from hamburgers and hot dogs and birthday cake. Not easy but I did it.

Its totally normal to feel the way you do. I am just over 3 months since my surgery but it does get better!

For the first few weeks, I felt the same, as though there just wasn't enough time in the day to get all the calories and liquid in, but you do have to keep trying.

Don't worry too much in the very early days about the calories, just remember to eat your Proteins first, followed by the veg and then if you can manage it, carbs. I aim for three meals a day with two healthy Snacks.
I have read on here that keeping hydrated will aid your weight loss as your body needs fluids to flush the fat out. The whole reason we are doing this is to get rid of that fat so days when I am struggling and really have no desire to drink, I make an effort as I keep thinking if I drink more, I will flush more fat out

While I agree with honesty is the best policy, you can always use the Hernia/gallbladder defense. You will be on a liquid diet at work, and if people notice that you aren't eating out with them or see you not eating there wont be any question when you say, I'm on my pre-op diet for gallbladder/hernia surgery and it sucks!!!! It shuts down any questions immediately, because most people know that abdominal surgeries require a fast. When you start losing weight you can tell them the dietary change you had to make post op led to better healthy choices and over all you feel better so you are going to stick with it. Just a thought. I know how hard it can be revealing your plans and when you are already vulnerable you don't need other's opinions.

You're welcome. I am not sure any of it will help, but I really don't want to lose my hair so I am trying to take all of this for prevention!!

My doctor sells something called “Uninjury” I believe and it is the only one I can tolerate for a Protein powder. He also has liquid flavor packets for Water that contain 14 grams of protein and those I can tolerate...for the most part tastes like Koolaid.

I was just curious what are the symptoms of sleeve leaks? My doctor doens’t do the swallow test anymore....found it to be unnecessary. He’s good at what he does, but I want to know what to possibly look for in case I do develop one. I want to catch it early instead of having something that keeps me in the hospital for weeks at a time. Thank you in advance.

If you let the Soup cool down a little then add the powder it won’t turn to a jelly.
