@Georgetown—I’ve never heard of a program that RECOMMENDS daily weighing. That’s strange. Usually the recommendation is weekly or less. If it’s not working for you, I’d say don’t do it. Go to twice a week or once a week and see if that is more motivating.

To those who have said they look forward to summer it has given me some hope for many things including not sweating my way through everything in summer and not sweating when I am asked to do presentations for work. Part an anxiety flop sweat cos it involved standing up in front of a 90% male dominated group of peers to be judged, and part a fat sweat cycle as venues were always boiling and knowing how bad the sweating fat woman optic was made me sweat more, and so on.

If that cycle gets broken it will be worth every gas pain, pureed meal, and frozen extremity.

I never ate baby food either. Lots of yogurt, cottage cheese, Protein Shakes. The only thing I puréed was canned peaches since I wasn’t allowed fresh fruit yet.

I was more constipated on the liquid diet than I am regular foods so not sure that would be the answer. I am 6 months out, trying to eat more fruit & veggies for Fiber, but still take a stool softener every day. When things aren’t moving for a couple days, I start using Miralax 1-2 times a day and that really helps.

Super excited and had to share with people who understand! I hit 199.7 lbs today. First time I’ve been under 200 lbs for at least 25 years (almost 1/2 my life). I was sleeved on Aug 20. I’ve got a ways to go but it’s really encouraging to see this progress!

    Weight before 2-week pre-op diet: 265
    SW: 255
    CW: 199.7
    GW: 150

I can only share my experience. This is what works for me.
I am just over 8 months out. I CANNOT EAT OVER 1000 calories on the reg and lose weight. I can maintain at 1050-1100. Anything more and I gain. I'm at 126 lbs. My original goal was 150. Crushed it. My surgeon said I was perfect at 135lbs. Good for him. I WANT to continue to weigh 125-127lbs.
But, to maintain this weight, it takes constant vigilance and work. It's a drag sometimes. Isn't everything?!
For me that means I have to eat high Protein and super low carb. I have to be very strict almost all the darn time. Like, under 55 carbs a day. And, those carbs have to come from good foods. I enjoy Friday Funday every week with my husband now that I'm at my happy spot. Here's what that looks like; the toppings from two small slices of supreme pizza. One small bite of thick crust, (my only bread, ever), a 2oz cup of trail mix (the kind with dried fruit AND M&M's) and 1 tiny handful of popcorn. This is over 2-3 hours. I also have a double Tito's screwdriver--light on the OJ/heavy on the ice--long before I eat anything. Add to this a Protein Shake and a Keto coffee with chocolate Greens throughout the rest of the day and you have summed up my wild and crazy eating adventure day! I usually gain 1/2-1 full pound. Then I have to lose it!
You can imagine the rest of the week.
That's how I maintain my ideal weight. If I feel like losing a pound, I cut a few carbs. If I feel too slim, I add some.
I never worry about fat...never buy/eat low fat products because they have added sodium and sugar. Good fats are good fats. I don't cook with salt, eat fast food (except a few bites of Wendy's chili every now and then). I keep my bag primed with Protein Bars. And I don't put junk in me because I didn't come this far to fail my body after the amazing response it's given me with this fab tool.
But, it's not for everyone. I have a butt ton of support from my husband. I am retired and control my environment. I have a "piss off you psychos" attitude that makes me hard to corrupt when I'm out with girlfriends who are trying to get me to drink or eat crap.
To most people it sounds like my food situation sucks. To me, I finally feel like food isn't controlling my life. I don't live for it anymore. It's just a survival mechanism. It's not a pleasure or a comfort. It just keeps me alive and healthy. Then on Fridays? I add a little sparkle! (It's always enough.).

lzucks reacted to KT1981 in A terrifying and hilarious NSV
First, let me say that this week I got my first, "I didn't recognize you!" from a coworker I hadn't seen since before the surgery. (I could tell something was weird because she was acting oddly shady toward me during the first part of the meeting, and then suddenly became normal several minutes later. Must have been when she put 2 and 2 together.)
Anyway, on to the terrifying and hilarious NSV. So I'm walking rapidly down this long, empty hall at work and focused on the door all the way at the other end. I'm trying to take a quick bathroom break and I don't have a lot of time. I kinda glanced down to check my path ahead of me (since I'd previously been focused on the door and not watching where I was walking) and as I glanced down I suddenly saw something scurry around my feet. We've been known to have the occasional mouse in the building and I live in the midwest where it has been bitterly cold, which can push critters inside. Naturally, I freak out and do a little jig and start looking around, but I see nothing.
I'm not sticking around to meet a mouse if I don't have to, so I start power walking to the door/end of the hallway and I see it scurry by my feet AGAIN! Suddenly, before the panic set in, a realization set in and I test my theory by walking slowly at first, then faster. Yep. It's my own feet. I can now see my own feet when I walk because my stomach has shrunk in size. No mice. Just my own damn feet. 🤣

500-700 calories seems very low. I’m 5 1/2 months post sleeve and eating about 900 cals/day (ranges from 700-1100), at least 70 g of Protein. Still losing about 10-13 lbs/month.

SIDE NOTE: I was allowed to add carbs (whole wheat, sweet potato, brown rice) when I got close to my maintaining weight. This was to slow/stop weight loss. Again, all plans look different.

now my athleisure (athlazy) wear is loose and I can't justify buying new ones that I'm not really going to use... And it's real hard to tailor netting on spandex
I wish the weightloss would come from targeted areas at this point

@AEdoesRnY I'm sorry to hear of your separation, but saying prayers that this change brings you peace, joy, and happiness. ((hugs))
@GreenTealael So I think you should cut yourself some slack, cuz what I see is that you're doing what we ALL do when we don't feel motivated to be Betty Crocker. We figure out quick solutions for meals. In the old days, that involved a comforty aspect and may have been fueled by drive-thru and rich take-out or even healthy take-out with big portions. That was our quick solution to unmotivated.
Now your solution is that you've found easy and simple meals that still comfort you, taste great, provide really solid nutrition--and bam! You're done! So what that it's healthy. Right? So what that it looks different from other peoples' definition of a quick takeout comfort meal?
I think you've evolved and found a great solution to the food doldrums. You know?

Hi there! I'm a 21st Jan sleever in the same situation as you. Hoping the pizza my kids ordered in would disgust me, but it didn't. Also delving into research I didn't see before surgery on long term outcomes...then remembering I'm unique and was 44BMI pre-surgery, up from 35 BMI 9 years ago, and relatively well considering, so I'm not in those big risk centiles. Still blows my mind I had major bits cut off instead of hitting the gym, then sensible head weighs back in to remind me how that never worked and even dietician was baffled how I got here when I gave a full and honest account of daily diet.

Please rant and doubt however much you need. Decisions get better the more we examine them and just because you can't reverse isn't a reason to shut up and put up. In future they may untangle all the electrics, hormones, thousands of genes that change with the surgery and synthesize a way to save folk the knife. In the mean time you have bought yourself a dramatic decrease in the risk of leaving the people who love you too early. That is courageous, as is the work you are doing now to make the best of it.

Finally...hugs. It can be so lonely

Sleeved in late October and I have the same thing. Losing all my weight in my legs, butt, and boobs. I had to lose 50# before I dropped a pant size. My old pants still fit perfectly in the waist, and were droopy drawers in the butt and legs. Not at all how I lost in previous attempts (except the boobs - they're always the first to go). For example, my first month, I lost a half inch in my waist, 2.5 in my butt, and an inch in each thigh. way out of proportion to their original size. I can only hope that it'll eventually even out. I suspect that since I'm in my 40s, the belly weight will just come off slower. It did catch up a little in month 2 in terms of inches. I'll have to see at the end of the month how its looking now.

I’m happy with my weight loss but it’s coming off in some areas and not others... Sleeved 8/20/18, down 76 lbs since pre-op diet (HW 265, SW 255). 39 lbs from goal of 150!! However, my calves and lower abdomen are still fat whereas my thighs/butt have almost disappeared. Anyone else experience this? Thanks!
