Find a new surgeon to consult with for sure! Also you asked about follow up. Univ of Michigan requires annual visits for life after the first year.

This happened to me with sinus surgery. It was a long time ago and I don’t recall all the details but I remember I didn’t have to pay. You can take it up with your insurance and the anesthesiologist practice both. There’s no way to know they’re out of network.

I have yet to vomit since my sleeve in August (knock on wood). Came close one time at about 5 after eating some chicken that was too dry but the feeling subsided after 10 minutes. First few days I had a hard time getting comfortable in bed. Needed help getting out of bed for 2 days. Gas pain in shoulder was horrible but just the 1st night when in hospital. Tomorrow is 8 weeks since my sleeve and no regrets here! Down 38 lbs including the 2 week pre-op diet. 😀

I didn’t weigh in at the hospital, for what it’s worth...

@Frustr8–Target sells Hint if that helps.
Also Gatorade Zero orange flavor has been my go-to drink. I hated any type of Gatorade pre-WLS now it tastes so much better than Water to me. -
@planochick I had to travel for work on liquids. It’s not easy but a couple tips. I checked my suitcase and packed the single serve Horizon milks (1%) and packets of Unjury Protein Powder. Also bought yogurt at the airport and everywhere else I could and lots of Vitamin Water zero. There are also SF puddings that don’t require refrigeration. Packed some of those and SF applesauce in individual sizes. Hope that helps!

Agreed with the post by CrankyMagpie! I focused on the benefit of shrinking my liver and what that meant for my overall safety and outcomes during/after the surgery. I was able to follow the 2-week liquid diet with this approach. You’ll be able to do it the next 7 days—I know it!

My advice would be to find a different program... They are basically making you do what you probably have struggled with for years, before implementing the tool, surgery. The recent data shows there is no correlation between pre-surgery weight loss and long-term outcomes with WLS. This approach is cruel and unnecessary. I sure hope you can shop around and find a different program. 😊

Agreed—HR should give you all the forms needed and walk you through them.

I was allowed to drink Coke Zero pre-op but not after.... Good luck Monday!

Every program has different rules but I could not have eaten that on my pre-op diet. broth with Protein Powder was the only Soup I could have.

Same. Less Protein Shakes and more food seems to help. So does mouthwash. It will get better!

I never have back pain but I did have it a few weeks after surgery. Especially when sitting on bleachers or with no back support. It’s gotten way better (I’m 5 weeks post-op). I think my core was just really weak for the surgery. Hope yours gets better soon too!

I’m 5 weeks post sleeve. Getting most of my Protein from cottage cheese and scrambled eggs, both of which taste really good to me right now. Just drinking one shake a day (Unjury made with Fairlife milk) which gives me 34 g of protein for Breakfast. Not a fan of protein powder products though.

That sounds tough... hope you can find a support group. The program in Michigan that I went through has several support group meetings a month. Guess we’re lucky! Good luck going into your second month!

Yes mine is discomfort in the center but sounds similar. I get the gurgling too especially from liquid meals. Less so now that I’m eating soft foods. Today is 4 weeks post sleeve. How about you?

It’s the feeling that nothing else will fit down your esophagus. At least that’s how it feels for me.

For what it’s worth, I bought the Celebrate Vitamins (chewable w/ Iron, tropical flavor) and I find them disgusting. Sometimes they make me gag but they were expensive, so I’m forcing them down. Flintstones taste way better but not as comprehensive of a multivitamin. Not sure what I’ll do when the Celebrate are gone....
