Okay, October sleevers, its April 1st tomorrow and that means we will all be hitting our 6 month marks over the next 30-31 days. Would love to hear/read about everyone's progress and updates as we all reach our 6-month-surgiverssaries (yes, i know that's not a real word, so I don't know how to spell it!).
Hope to hear from everyone (even its its just to say hey whats up...)

Hi there, I’m in Mobile AL. I was sleeved on 5/10 and I’m slowly getting used to this new way of life. 5 weeks out and I’m 50lbs down. It’s been a wild ride so far!

Amy’s Soups are nice, I’m near end of my liquid phase and still can’t keep my 4oz warm past 10 mins. I don’t have a mug warmer so I’m eating cold food and that turns me off what I’m eating. Guess I will be eating cold food for a while

I had my first dr appointment last week and met with my NUT. I told her about the Multivitamin being horrible, she said to try either Celebrate or Flinstones complete (orange box). I found flinstones in my local grocery store and they are small and don’t taste of much...I’m staying with them!

Some inspiration for all of you!! I was sleeved oct 1 and was feeling a bit down because the scale hasn’t moved much since surgery. Just tried on my slacks for work next week and they were too small and now they are baggy and hanging off me!!! 😁

I’m on day 2 of 10, and Protein Shakes are vile...I never drank milk shakes. I’m only feeling hangry when I get bored. I think your on same day or near like me, I would put what you did behind you and just look forward and keep up with the liquids...I’m sure you will do just fine 🙂

Stopping in for a minute to update with information others might find useful:) Don't intend to stay cause leaving the forum was a REALLY good idea for me:) It had become a daily habit that was sort of obsessive and weird...too much time spent here. It was time to refocus on other things, and I'm glad to have done so. I'm rooting for all of you in the trenches, though, and wish you every success!
Hit goal at the end of July, 170 lean mean pounds, eating mayo Clinic Diet around 1400 calories per day. Yep, I eat carbs. Tons of them. LOL. Mostly good carbs, though. I avoid refined stuff for the most part, but I do eat a lot of whole grain bread, Protein Pasta, whole fruit, and Beans.
Went on an amazing cross country camping trip with my daughter in August and continued to lose weight...which didn't make me particularly happy. (the trip, however, was amazing and I loved every minute!)
I look a little like Skeletor past 165 and I'd gotten down to 162...I was not feeling the love for that aesthetic at all....so I upped my calories to 1600. Couldn't gain, so started doing 1800 every other day...and that seems to have worked. I'd rather be 170....but I'm at 166 and holding...and I'm ok with that:)
This weekend I did my first community bike ride. Twelve miles! Hubby rode, too, and was insanely proud of me for finishing with the group. My hips and calves are feeling it today, but getting out in the sunshine and being physically ABLE to do that pretty comfortably was such a fantastic victory. Total freedom. God, it felt good! Also rediscovered my love of canoe river camping with my daughter last month. Sometimes I feel like losing 100 pounds has been comparable to getting out of a wheel chair. There are so many things I can do again. My favorite thing about the surgery has been the physical freedom and health benefits. The smaller clothes and aesthetics are great, but nothing compares to being able to move as much as I want for as long as I want. It's pure freedom and I'm so grateful. My walking obsession has recently turned into a running obsession and even with 46 year old aches and pains....it feels so damned good.
Best advice I can give on this whole adventure..... I think diet is a small part of this equation. What diet you prefer isn't particularly important. The bottom lines is fewer calories in, more calories out. Any balanced healthy diet works. Limit junk.
I think most of the challenge is in our heads......figuring out the crazy shite that made you hurt emotionally and made you eat. Figuring out what makes you ignore your Portion Control and eat when you're not hungry. Figuring out how to fix this stuff and redirect your psychological needs without ending up with another addiction. No one talks about it...and it's the core injury. It's what's wrong. It's what needs to be fixed. All this psychological crap that manifests in self destructive habits...the stuff we love to deny.
I hit a bad stall about month three after surgery. Best thing I did....was start to see the psychologist about the causes of my lifelong overeating. I credit my psychologist with my success almost as much as my surgeon. But mostly, I give myself the credit, because dammit, I worked really hard to figure this out. I'm grateful for all the help and support I was given, but in the end....I earned this:) I did the work. Yay, me, dammit! LOL:)
Will update with pics after the Bariatric Formal Event (as I lovingly call it...the Fat Prom...put on by my group). LOL:)
Best wishes to everyone! There are gonna be victories and stubborn spots.... and times your head pulls some absolute crap on you. Hang in there. Go to your appointments. Get mental health support even if you don't feel like you need it. Don't do exercise you hate...find things you love and enjoy. Don't eat food you hate. Eat stuff you love that is balance and healthy. Eat less. Move more. Gratitude is good medicine. Love your life. You deserve a life you love:)

Definitely no caffeinated coffee for the first 4 weeks after surgery and then we’ll see if it’s tolerated... I think decaf might just make me sadder haha. I heard it referred to as “brown sadness Water once” :)

I've started a list to help people find their surgery buddies. This is supposed to just be sleevers, but I bet some others snuck on. It's supposed to be all the October sleevers, but I'm 100% sure I missed some, and some don't have dates yet. Let me know if you aren't on the list and want to be on it, or if you're on it but want to be, and I'll edit this post! (Please please please don't quote the whole post; just type "@CrankyMagpie" to get my attention. I mean, also, I'm following this thread, so I'll see it even if you don't @ me.)

I just found out that my insurance approved surgery!! I won't be able to have surgery until October because of my work schedule. Anyway, I really wasn't getting my hopes up in case insurance didn't approve it, but now it's real omg. I'm nervous and excited and would love someone to be buddies with through this. Any takers?
I'm 37. I have 4 kids (14, 11, 4 and 2) and I'm a teacher. I am starting with a BMI of 40 exactly with no comorbidities. Anyone out there with similar stats? Even different stats but you are having surgery in October? My date is 10/4.

I got my date on July 17 at the conclusion,of my appointment with Dr Needleman at OSU Bariatric Clinic. Suzy the scheduling Secretary plan to arrive by 5 AM for a 7 AM surgery on September 5 2018. Said wanted me to be first that day, that way if my surgery became, more complicated he could devote total attention to me. Hey, I feel honored, first time I have been first for anything. When you get repeatedly a fuzzy lollipop while the rest,of the world. gets cotton candy, you resign yourself to 2nd rate treatment, and I never stuck up for myself. How could I when I was my parents daughter, my husband's wife, my children's mother, I had no independent life, just an extension of someone else. Sad isn't it, I was never me, raised that way, lived that way. When my husband died, and I had to become me, it was scary. See, I had been browbeaten that no one could like me for myself. Been a rough 6 years establishing ME, but guess what -people do like me, I can finally seek the surgery I have wanted , that my parents and husband wouldn't permit me to have. And now I am doing it, and now I can be first in line on my surgery because my future health and ME matter, and for a few minutes I am the Empress, the person extraordinate the world waits for. AND it is Heady and thrilling!

And I love how the scheduler is like it's no big deal. B*** I just one more liquid diet added to my week!

So then I tell my husband and this is the text I get back: "Do you need me to change my days off or can your mom take you home from the hospital?"
GRRRR - You know what, I'll just take a damn Uber home. At least I know they'll be there for me!
