Hi, I'm in the UK so think the rules may be different here but my BMI is 32 and I've just had a band fitted. I wasnt able to get this on the NHS (our miracle healthcare system) because of my low BMI so I took out a bank loan to pay for the op myself. Here if your BMI is over 30 you are eligible but there has to be genuine reasons for you wanting to go down this route. For me, I was similar to yourself and have tried every diet in the book to no avail. My weight yo-yo'd for around 15 years and once I turned 30 I just got heavier and heavier despite my attempts to lose weight. I know my problem is my relationship with food so for me the band will eventually allow me to eat what I want but I will only be able to physically eat so much of it before I am sick. I need this kind of control. I had to sign a consent form as this wasn't a medical referral but a medical choice. I have recently been diagnosed with arthritis and believe if I don't take my weight under control that my condition will get worse. I'm also leaving myself open to diabetes and this is something I don't want in my future. My doctors accepted these as valid reasons and I was able to get the band. I'm sorry I really don't know too much about US healthcare so I'm unsure if any of this is helpful! Best of luck x

Congrats to you!! I had sleeve done 2 weeks ago, I was given tylenol with codeine but only used it for two days after I as the pain was not that bad after I left the hospital. It's hard to say what would work for you pain, everyone's tolerance is different. Maybe try otc tylenol and if that doesn't work ask your surgeon if they could give you something.
My brother had band surgery years ago. I won't say the band failed him but rather he failed the band. His will power was not strong and very soon after having it he gave into temptation and started back on old bad habits. He even went back in a few years later and had it readjusted. Still he failed it. He's lost some weight in the last year or so and has been talking about having a sleeve done.
Best of luck to you on reaching your healthy place!!!!

Good luck with your weight loss challenge! I only had my surgery on 23rd and I'm apprehensive and excited at the same time. I know I've made a good and positive choice to have this surgery. Here's hoping we get healthier and happier with the work we'll put in! Xx

Congratulations!!!! We all get stalled along on our journey. 31 pounds is fabulous. Your body is adjusting to the change do not get discouraged because you only lost 11lbs one month. That is excellent. Our bodies all loose at different paces and it is ok. I am one yr and 2 months post op 84 pounds down. I had stalls some months 4 pounds others over 10 pounds and as you get closer to a year you will start loosing slower and it is ok. Just follow Drs orders and you will be fine. You look amazing and congrats again!!!![emoji6]
