Separ1418 got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Will this change or is this how it will be?
I am about 4 months out - up until about a week before Christmas I was losing a pound a day - awesome right? Well then I had a stall, and now I have lost about 10 pounds in three weeks, which, believe me I am very happy about. I've lost about 92 lbs (including 25 pre surgery pounds). Should I just relax and expect this slow down or can it pick up again? Thanks!

You can likely expect the days of losing a pound a day are over now that your BMI is under 40.
If you are losing 3-4 pounds a week that’s a pretty great loss rate, and it will considerably slow down from there as you continue to lose. My last follow up at nine months my surgeon was thrilled with 29 pounds in three months.
Congratulations on your success so far!
Do not be discouraged when your loss slows, it is completely normal! Just stay on task!

    Congrats on your upcoming surgery.
We understand your excitement but, will it matter when you start seeing results? Enjoy knowing you will lose weight and get your health back.
Its work. Nothing happens overnight. ....Surgery is not the easy way out.

Hmmm, current nsv, not gaining over the thanksgiving holiday. I mean I don’t cook for thanksgiving but still. My weight has been stalling like crazy but my measurements are still shrinking. I was able to fit into a size 14 pair of jeans earlier in the month. Impossible!

I’ve lost about 80lbs and suddenly I’m walking hunched over - practically folded in half! Should I add sit ups or something?

I promise I'm not judging anyone. I promise, this isn't in response to any particular thread already existing on this forum.
I'm genuinely confused. I "think" in the US that most of us who are in programs paid by insurance, must go through a supervised weight loss period prior to insurance approval. It ranges from 3-6 months or even longer--maybe even a year or more? During that time, in my plan at least, we painstakingly go over my doc's pre-op and post-op diet regimen along with the Vitamin and Water schedules so that there isn't any doubt about what I'm supposed to be doing at any point in time after surgery.
So how is it that I read all over the internet (not just here on BP) about patients asking what they're supposed to eat immediately post-op, or x days post-op, or x weeks?
I swear how I don't understand this scenario? Is it different if you're self-pay maybe? I'm sure it's quite diff if you have surgery out of the country through Medical Tourism, perhaps? Do surgeons really put their patients through this life-changing, anatomy-altering surgery without fully explaining what to do once the surgery's over? It just seems so scary larry sketchy...as in a recipe for disaster!?
So confused and concerned about these peeps! (don't mind me...I'm easily amused by the googly eyes on these guys!)

I don't think your taking in enough protein. I had the bypass also and my protein intake is 60mg of protein and 64 oz of liquids per day. I had my surgery on the 3rd and I've lost around 25 lbs so far.

The hunched over posture is also connected to working a desk job. My massage therapist said at the beginning that alot of the muscles in my upper back were hyperextended. All exercises that work your back side from shoulders down to ass will help with this. I also find that alot of my poor posture is connected to inflexibility in my hips and I have to routinely practice sitting straight when i am at work.

I lost about 25 before surgery - and I'm zeroing in on 75 lbs lost altogether so the majority of the weight was lost after surgery. I started a lot higher than you did though.

I forgot that I posted this so I had to read what I found out to re-educate myself. I guess I've lost more than just weight... plenty of brain/memory cells as well.
I also have an autoimmune thyroid condition called Hashimoto's thryoiditis. It's hereditary. My point is, having an out-of-whack thyroid tends to interfere with one's tolerance for cold and heat. I tend to have a problem with heat more than cold, but after losing close to 100lbs, I'm having a problem with cold more often now. That said, I'm not interested in regaining those 100lbs so I can be warm again!

I've been cold for coming up four years now; it's probably the side effect of WLS I enjoy least. I have to wear layers year-round (yes, even in the summer!). On the other hand, visiting hot countries on winter vacations is a lot more fun now.
I also really miss Water sports; I find being immersed in cool water too uncomfortable now to enjoy swimming like I used to. I had to buy a wetsuit when I rebuilt my wardrobe about a year out from surgery!

I used to sweat just from standing, yesterday I walked almost 17000 steps and I barely shed a sweat. I am layering up always especially in the mornings that I walk the dog out it’s soooo chilly. Also if I just sit at home even with heat on Have to wear slippers on (that I never ever had to before!) and maybe even a blanket or an extra sweater on top. I would have never thought that possible, as I am not yet thin, not even reached yet the thinnest I was on the past 10years!

I think it's a combo, and none of it your fault. I agree that the guys are likely engaging some weirdo coping mechanism by broadcasting that you like them, likely to both seek attention (attractive woman is interested in me!) and to create a social barrier (...but I'm MARRIED and wouldn't DARE!). It's an alien approach to most women, because it is self-aggrandizing and dumb and easily disproven. But then there's the stupid gendered thing where a woman who refutes such a rumor is seen as protesting too much, and a man who says he's not interested is just telling the truth. Down with the patriarchy, etc.
HOWEVER. The other thing is possibly that you're so used to having your physical form negated by others that you poured most of your attention into your personality. So when people met you, they mostly liked you for your awesome communication and engagement traits, because you'd spent a long time honing them and were awesome. But NOW, you're SLIM. And that means your knockout personality now ALSO has a level-up of them liking you hormonally, so now they like you even MORE and some of that liking is sexual, and now their brains are fried. Because you're an attractive woman with a great personality and you're talking to them and that's unusual (which is likely also a quirk of having lost weight, because lots of women who fit in that category but were never fat have learned from past weirdness to tone things down).
Don't change who you are because of two dumb himbos. If it eventually gets to the point where it's too damn annoying to talk to men because they keep doing this, then you can think of changing things up. But for now it's just a couple of guys short-wiring because their brain and their pants simultaneously find you attractive.

I wouldn't limit your interaction with the opposite sex due to 2 weird eggs. Like someone else mentioned, this could totally just be an ego thing with the guys. Women do the same thing. Men are just as weird and complex when it comes to feeling inferior, they'll do anything to make themselves feel/seem less inferior even at the expense of others' comfort. There ARE decent people out there who would be excited to meet an awesome person like you for plain ol' harmless, decent adult conversation. Finding them is the tougher part. I'd just say stick to your comfort zone and don't feel bad about bailing when you don't feel comfortable. Be picky about who you decide to keep company and vice versa especially in public. There's nothing wrong with that 💓

Any core building exercises will help! I'm in the same boat. Being overweight we hunch and don't realize it. I had the added surprise of finding out I had spinal arthritis, but didn't know because all the visceral fat was protecting the nerves. I picked up a posture corrector on Amazon and I use that on and off. And I make a consious effort to keep my head up, shoulders back and spine upright. It's such a weird feeling! It took years to screw up our posture, it's going to take time and effort to get it corrected.
