    Before and After Pics

I had 70 lbs to loose and have lost it all
  2. Hopeful , Maybe my experience will help give u a realistic expectation . i started my journey at 245lbs in fall of 2018 and was 231 the day of my surgery December 18. I lost about 25 lbs the first 4 weeks and then about 10 -12 lbs the. Next 2 months , so 50lbs in the first 3 months . Weight loss slowed after that but of course it should cuz I was 50lbs lighter ! The first month I probably ate 400-500 calories. A day and got my 10k steps in and did spinning a few times a week . Months 4 and 5 I lost maybe 5lbs a month and now I am losing at a rate of 2 lbs a month . I eat 1000-1200 calories a day and weight 171, am 3 lbs from my goal . 2 lbs a month isn’t much but hey , slow and steady wins the race! I still eat protein first, don’t drink with meals, get my water and exercise in every day and am really loving life . it seemed to happen quickly .. stay focused on the long game .. u can do it ! But I never thought to “experiment”with food until after month 4. I was on a mission . Even so there are things I just will never eat again .
  3. Not with the sleeve
  4. Take a deep breath . Am shocked u could eat that so soon after surgery ! But put it in ur journal and recommit to urself that u will follow the steps . It is the only way

    Self Payers in Florida

Dr Shillingford is the best ! He did my gastric sleeve 12/18 /18 and I am down 70lb with no issues at all. Plenty of restriction , am 4 lbs from goal ! Love my tool!

    Self Payers in Florida

I had thought I was going to do in NJ so did a lot of the pre op in nj ( an endoscopy ) and allergy testing and bloodwork in nj. But think U could with ur regular doc at home . I had a phone consult with dr Shillingford in mid November and did surgery in mid December . Just had my dr send them the results
  10. Maryec , I haven’t needed any follow ups really and they don’t require them . My acid reflux is a little worse post surgery and I just did a phone call with the dr and then changed my Med . I do all my own weight loss charting and use my local dr to do bloodwork . I am in NJ so really too far to use him for anything but there has been no need . I read so many of these post where people don’t have enough restriction or have other issues and so happy I used him . I have had no issues and there is plenty of restriction.
  11. So i am almost 6 months out and was a low BMI to start with. A 34 i think at 241 lbs. was 231 the day of surgery and started walking 3 miles a day within a week of surgery. I also had been spinning 3-4 days a week and was pretty active. My calories the first 6 weeks were probably under 500 a day , all protein but i was really good about getting water and protein drinks in. I continue to do so. I lost almost 50 lbs in 3 months and have been slowly coming down the last 3 months to within 5 lbs of my 168 goal. I have had stalls, but found that i need to make sure i ate enough calories and carbs (i think sometimes i went too low), also drinking water helped tremendously. Especially a glass of lemon water a few hours after dinner but before bed. The Nut suggested that sometimes the stalls are just the fat is gone but fat cells are holding onto water. The lemon water works as a diuretic . I would always lose 1/2 to 1 lb when i did/do the lemon water. I made sure to get 10k steps in every day and often tried to do spinning and weights as well. The weight loss caused me to lose a lot of core strength and i have been slowly working to get that back. Most importantly, stay positive. We are in this for the long haul. I just ignore the stalls and stay the course and try more water and more exercise , but i have had them last 3 weeks.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

That’s so interesting ! I too find that if I eat a little more , a stall will break . Although also a good spin class and tons of water with lemon helps too !

Thanks Steve ! Yes very happy ! About 5-6 lbs to goal !
  14. I had it done at 57 last December
  15. Thanks ! It’s not he’ll, just annoying . No take lansaprozole am and pm now . And avoid eating close to bed time . It’s manageable but disappointing

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Wow , whomever posted that chart , thanks ! I lost 10lbs before surgery and 60lbs in 3 months . Was sleeved in December . Only losing 5 lbs a month now but 6 lbs from goal so expect it to go slow !
  17. Hey I hat a hiatal hernia repair and did a gastric sleeve at the same time . Thought it would cure my acid reflux but although I’ve lost 62 lbs and am a normal BMI my acid reflux is worse ! What’s up with that ? Does it mean I will have to eventually do a revision ? I don’t eat a lot of dense foods , mostly shakes , cottage cheese , fish and yogurt but sometimes it’s really bad , particularly at night. Anyone have any advice ?

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Steve274 do you really think the benefits of the sleeve wear off over time ? I certainly can eat more than I could at the outset post surgery , but still have trouble with any dense foods . I am still living on and frankly loving my protein drinks , cottage cheese, yogurt and eggs with a little cooked veggies . Difficult to eat salad quite frankly . My sleeve still seems very restricting

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Wow! Well done Steve ! Sounds like u r using discipline with a little craftiness to keep your weight in check . I am about 5 lbs from goal although most people say it’s enough . I am in size 10 clothes which at 5’9 is pretty thin . Still can’t believe it and I haven’t gotten used to shopping in this size ! Surprisingly I have done well using the inspire cookies and protein snacks to help a lot with any sweets cravings . Also use protein shakes a lot to substitute for the ice cream craving . It seems to be a plan I can live with and I am losing about 3-4 lbs a month which is more than fine!
  23. Good for u! I did the sleeve and wish I had done it sooner !

    December 2018 Sleevers!

I weigh every day and try to keep calories under 1000, carbs under 50. Workout 5 x a week . Have been doing great , down 60 but this last month I only lost 6 lbs . Still I am about 12 lbs from goal so it’s the last bit and I am in size 10 and honestly wouldn’t be unhappy to be at this weight long term . No just dear regains when I am 6-8 months out from the sleeve so I want to overshoot my “comfortable “ weight
