Selmeeka got a reaction from LearningToLoveMeAgain in Not telling anyone
I told some people at work. I find it's easier to tell people to their face.
On the other hand I did not say anything on Facebook. People tend to be braver behind a keyboard. It's my business not theirs. You do you, and whatever makes you happy and most comfortable.

Don't wait for something bad to happen! You're just one of the lucky ones that didn't have a bad experience. Accept your good fortune!

I am 10 days post op and I have had ZERO issues. Even in the hospital things moved along smoothly. Maybe it’s my own head just expecting it but I feel like this should be more complicated. Anyone else just have a fantastic experience?
The worst pain I’ve had is from the blood thinner injections. Swelling and bruising that just won’t quit. Even nausea, I’m expecting that to kick in any moment. I know so many people struggle and I guess I have psyched myself out. Anyone else have smooth transitions?

Two weeks post op today woohoooo
I was walking the same day as surgery and walked every hour the day after
no gas pain just slight incision pain that was managed well.
Water was difficult in the first few days but got easier daily.
Still on liquids - making lots of good wholesome homemade Soups but last few days I’m making them thicker and they are still fine , so next few days I’ll move to mushy foods.
Not sure how I’ll be on that ... anyone moving to mushy foods in the next few days ? What are you planning to try ?
I weighed last week just one week pre op and hadn’t lost anything , I think due to water gain so I’m not going to weigh again until my check up 16th May.
I’m so grateful things went smoothly for me . I did stick to the ore op 100% and the surgeon said he could tell as my liver was really small. I also walked a lot very soon after the op. I believe that helped a lot too and also the attitude you have to mentally be well will also help

    good luck to everyone x

Selmeeka got a reaction from Healthy_life2 in Surgery today: Feeling hopeless
First of all, I wish all the luck in the world today. I’m going in on Wednesday. It’s a very nerve racking thing to go through.
My surgeon recommended this course to me that helped me have a better relationship with food. It’s called intuitive eating. If there is a class teaching this near you, I recommend taking it. It really is a lifesaver.
You mentioned that you Celebrate and reward yourself with food. Maybe finding other ways to reward yourself, new clothes, shoes or something that you have wanted for a long time.
I come from a family where no matter the occasion, sad or happy, food is always the center of that. That’s been the tough part for me through all of this. My mother is a self classified “ feeder”.
i have faith in you! If this is what you want then you will succeed!!

In the pre op room they anesthesiologist will come to see you, at that point tell them you are anxious and they will give you something to take the edge away. They actually let me hold the breathing cup in the OR to get things started. Don't rush the pain... it will come but to make sure the pain goes away sooner..... walk... walk... walk... and sip sip sip. Before ya know it you'll be on the sleeved side

I'm sure it will. sometimes I believe that we are our own worst enemies doubting ourselves or anything to do with us. You're mention being very nervous, I can totally relate to as those thoughts of insecurity start to surface... what if something goes wrong, this is not reversible, blah... blah and more blah thoughts ran through my head.
But what should have been running through my mind is that I am happy that I have this opportunity to get this surgery. Along with weight loss to a normal size where I can enjoy life, Be more active. Have better health and a longer life due to this change.
I know its hard to not think of the negative thoughts, but try to focus on what got you to this point and why you want the surgery. Keep me posted with your progress and all the best.
