Tomorrow marks eight weeks since I've had my surgery. I'm down 60 pounds. That number seemed huge to me this morning, whereas the ones before it were a little surreal. But 60 pounds? That's a second grader! My face is looking like my face again. I'm super tall, so 60 pounds on me looks like less than a smaller woman. Here I am in all my dirty hair, makeup-less glory...

Being overweight sucked. It sucked that people stared at me, that I got an endorphin kick off of eating, that planes have middle seats, that the clothes I wore were the best I could assemble out of bad options. It sucked that social events were based around calorie-laden moments. It sucked that I had to spend years trying diets and counseling and have humiliating conversations with HR to get this op covered, then do a complicated insurance switcheroo when they said no, and then scrape up the money to cover the surgery. It sucked that even when I did lose weight before, I’d regain it when people’s reaction to me (shocked praise, aggressive flirting, extensive recitations of all the hideous health complaints I’d now avoid) actually made me REGAIN just so they’d STOP TALKING.
So no, I don’t judge. I feel sad that the other person is likely still trapped in some part of that depressive cycle, whether they’re actively looking to lose or not. And then I treat them exactly as I would absolutely anyone else.
My one rule with this surgery is that if a thin person asks me how I lost weight, I generally don’t spill the Beans because they’re usually looking for random diet tips or are being nosy. But if a fat person asks, I tell them honestly. The last thing I want to do is imply that I lost this weight through diet and exercise alone, and I want them to be able to ask me anything they want to know.

    Hey yall!!!
I just did my vsg yesterday and I have to say I feel really awesome. I am in very little pain if any. My throat did not hurt when I woke up. I was very gassy though. It was a great experience. I was able to ask the surgeon and the anesthesiologist all my crazy questions...like how  are you gonna prevent me from dying...lol... but it was actually amazing. The staff was amazing I had really really awful roommates but besides that everything so far in this journey is good.
I know that we all have our fears. I'm a mom and a single mom at that. I just didn't want to do anything that would cause me to not be here for my son. However I was just so glad that I woke up I was so happy! And I'm writing this to let any other person who has fears know that it is absolutely normal. Ask questions even if you think they are silly. They're in your mind and not asking them is going to make you become anxious and even more fearful. I have to say that I am now home I have been discharged from the hospital.
I am looking forward to the new me. I can't wait to meet her. I've seen glimpses of her throughout my weight loss yo-yo dieting Journey but this too is going to allow me to see you for I really can be. So let me encourage anyone who is thinking about this, for anyone who is about to do this, all will be well. The best thing that you can do is to do your research on your surgeon and once you have a good surgeon with a good reputation you're in good hands.

I have turned to this message board for a while and have gotten great info from a lot of you, so now I want to encourage others. VSG on 3-14-18, have lost 105 since. By far the best thing I could have done for me and my family.

I'm a week post body lift/tummy tuck. I am feeling pretty good. The pain was intense for the first few days. I have four drains in and still fill them up with Fluid. I expect them to be in for a few weeks at least. The results so far are amazing, though. They took off 15 lbs of skin/fat. All insurance covered. I'll be looking at an arm lift in about 6-8 weeks.

    Hi everyone,
I had surgery May 7th. I’m currently down about 75lbs.
At the beginning I had major buyers remorse, nothing felt right everything was new (but not in a good way).
I am just now starting to notice changes In myself in pictures.
I have recently been out of town for school. I didn’t need a seat belt extender on the plane. I walked through the airport no problem, I walked to and from university every day, I was able to fit in the seats with no worry. The coolest thing is last night I went whale watching, everyone gets a coat...it fit!
Never before would I have fit in to some sort of standard issue clothing.
I’m not even sure why I’m making this post, except that I’m so excited! It took a while for me to notice things changing, but they finally did. And you are the people who will understand!

    So I started at 304lbs ( 21' 10 ) for the uk'ers and blimey did I feel every pound!
I have lost steadily and I am now 245lbs (17' 7!) so very chuffed, and cannot believe how much my life has changed.
Here are a couple of before and afters, one at my heaviest and the other, two days ago for clarity.
I can't really see a massive difference myself but others have told me they can definitely see it, can you?

I was 332 when I started the preop diet. I’m 4 mons post op, and I’ve lost over 90lbs. The challenges are that it takes awhile for you to really see a difference. I was nearly 80lbs before I started getting compliments. My stomach is holding on for dear life. My legs, arms, and chest went right away.

kjomorgan reacted to MG1776 in Time to stop losing weight!
Can't believe I even said the headline! Crazy to think that 17 months ago I tipped the scale at 347 lbs and now right around 180-182. I don't want to lose anymore weight! I still have a little belly, which may be quite a bit of skin, but there isn't much else to lose, so my focus must be to building muscle and putting on some muscle mass. Any tips or recommendations would be appreciated.

kjomorgan reacted to BlueCrush in Is it possible to build muscle after the sleeve? I'm about to find out.
A bit about me: I had the sleeve surgery in December 2017 period. I've lost a total of 181 pounds since last May, and now I'm looking to gain some muscle mass. I'm currently sitting at 225lbs pounds and 6'2.5" tall.
So many unanswered questions of not been able to find good responses to. Things such as how to start eating any calorie surplus now that I want to add muscle. Will I be able to eat enough to add muscle? Follow me on this thread and I will track my journey for any others that may follow the same path.
