  1. Congrats!
Jingle123423 got a reaction from Fluffy Grandma in NSV
Other than me regularly marveling at how little I eat, I just produced my first garbage bag full of clothes that are too baggy now. It feels good to be donating and making room in my closet! The best part is I am still relatively new so I know there are many more NSVs to come!

Happy birthday Frustr8. Wishing you many happy returns of the day. Have a virtual slice of cake. (I have a small cake business from home and can attest that this particular one was lovely! It was a 6 layer rainbow sponge with Swiss meringue buttercream icing)

I am in MA. I am having mine done at Brigham and Womens. I have a two week pre-diet.
    Pre-Operative Diet
The preoperative diet is required for all patients before weight loss surgery. This diet will help to make your liver smaller which makes it safer and easier for your surgeon to perform surgery.
Start this diet 2 weeks before your surgery date.
Every day during the pre-op diet, you will do these 2 things:
Follow the instructions in each box. For boxes A, B, C, and D, choose 1 item to eat or drink during the day. For Box E, consume 1 meal. Drink at least 64 ounces of sugar-free beverages (water, Crystal Light, Fruit2O, etc.). With 1 item from each box, you will have 5 eating events per day.
Box A Choose one Protein shake: SlimFast Advanced Nutrition (RTD shake only, not powder) Pure Protein (35 gm can) Premier Protein Atkins EAS Advantedge Unjury (in water) Syntrax nectar (in water) Syntrax Matrix (in water) Designer whey (in water) Quest Protein (in water) +
Box B Choose one protein shake: Syntrax Matrix (in milk*) Unjury (in milk*) Glucerna Hunger Smart Core Power Light EAS Myoplex Lite Boost Glucose Control Boost Calorie Smart Designer Whey (in milk*) Quest Protein (in milk*) +
Box C Choose one snack: 1 cup non-starchy vegetables + 2 Tb Salad Dressing or guacamole ¼ cup unsalted nuts ¾ cup low-fat cottage cheese, ricotta cheese 6 oz Plain Greek yogurt 2 eggs (any style) 2 oz turkey + 1 string cheese 1 Protein Shake from Box A +
Box D Choose one snack: Nature Valley Protein Bar Pure Protein Bar (190-200 calories) Detour Whey Protein Bar (170 calories) Fiber One Protein Bar 1 serving fruit + 1 TBSP nut butter 1 protein shake from Box B +
Box E Eat one meal: Meal should contain: 4 servings of protein 3 servings of non-starchy vegetables 2 servings of fat *Can choose skim (fat-free) or 1% milk, lactaid milk, or plain soy milk.
Please choose only the items listed on this sheet.
Bread, rice, Pasta, starchy vegetables, and alcohol are not allowed on the pre-op diet.
    Important Notes:
Use the Serving Size section starting on page 20 of the diet guidelines book to remind you which foods are in each food group (protein, non-starchy vegetables, and fat) for your 1 meal in Box E. Eating every 3-4 hours and drinking plenty of fluids in between can help to prevent hunger. You choose the order of your items. Sample Pre-Op Meal Plans
Remember to drink at least 64 ounces of sugar-free fluids throughout the day.

One thing I’ve noticed is that I can have half of anything. Half a hot dog, half a McDonalds Breakfast sandwich, etc. etc. So, one day, at minimum, you’ll be able to have half an enchilada.

Hellooo everyone. I am new here, sleeved Tuesday October 23rd. Will I ever be able to have just 1 single cheese enchilada ever again? This breakup hurts. In between sips of Water and Protein (BLAAH) drink, I long for a cheese enchilada, and do feel a bit hungry.

I going to be super honest with you. I feel legitimate hunger and *can* eat like I have zero restriction. It's called eating around your sleeve, and my surgeon did an amazing job.
I don't do it because I'd never lose weight. You can totally eat around your sleeve and feel real hunger and still have a perfect tool. I don't know if that was ever fully explained to you but that's in the past.
Try to focus on how you can move forward, succeed within your current framework and advocate for yourself ( maybe with a new team)
Don't go crazy on conspiracy theories until you have proof. Try to concentrate on the changes you can make, things you can control.

I have been clean and sober 7 years. I am active in aa and my home group is actually an online group. So for any women that has drinking our drug issues and need advice or want to talk, message me. I'll give you my number and we can talk. Men too, I can help guide you to a feeling make in this area. I always say I'm a "true addict". I take anything and make it unhealthy; cutting, sex, drugs, alcohol, and especially food.

I'm not trying to make my message a public service announcement, but I want those struggling with other unhealthy coping mechanisms to know that they're not alone.

Yes, your surgeon does sound like an ass, BUT how have you been eating? I doubt that he opened you up and just didn't do anything. I get hungry too. In fact, as I'm writing this, I'm hungry and wanting some lunch! I just can't eat a lot at one time. The food choices that you make, affect how much you can eat of something too. I don't know how you're eating; you've been asked a few times, but you haven't responded. How is your diet? The surgery is only part of weight loss equation. My surgeon explained that the surgery won't do it all for me, I have to eat right, exercise, and drink Water too. Do you keep track of your food, Protein, and water? The surgery will not fix it all for you; you have to make changes too in order to see results.

Request a barium swallow test with copies for your records. You can then seen your sleeve and proceed to choose your path from there, whether a consultation with a new team or a follow up with this doctor. Don't take no for an answer. Take charge.
Also, let's be really honest because I don't want to speculate: how's your diet, forealsies...?

I am nearly 7 months out and from my experience, the hunger doesn't really go away. For me it is a constant daily challenge of managing what I eat and dealing with being hungry. I hate being hungry and I hate being cold, but for me that is the price of getting to the weight that I have set as my goal. Undoubtedly it has been hard, and I am frustratingly close to my goal, but you get out what you put in. The question I would have or you, is how much you can eat in one session. If you can only eat a cup or less, then the surgery was probably done properly. If it is more than that, then I would agree that something is probably wrong. My suggestion is back to basics, maybe start over from the liquid diet and do a complete reset. Follow the guidelines you got following surgery slavishly for a couple of weeks and see what that does. Personally I keep a food diary in myfitnespal, something I never thought I would do. However it helps keeps me honest with myself about what I am eating,

Also I agree your surgeon is an ass... No-one should call you a failure, this is really hard.

Congrats on your weight loss! You look FABULOUS! I'd say that your breasts are not proportional to your body now. Even if they aren't bothering your back now, they will likely later. I wouldn't be worried about smaller breasts making your stomach look larger... girl... your stomach is pretty darn flat!
    Again, way to go!

Oh! And while I still have to treat my sleep apnea, it's mild enough to treat it with a dental appliance instead of a CPAP machine! The insurance company approved it and they're making it as we speak!
