  1. Why would you have a beer? From what my doctor told me, alcohol is abrasive on the staples, and the little bits of flesh that were stapled can erode and you can get a leak in your stomach that can be life threatening. I cannot imagine why on earth you would risk it.
  2. I just did this on Friday. I called the regular customer service line.
  3. No alcohol for at least 6 months.
  4. Pre-Op classes? What do you mean? Typically any kind of group meetings are included. Are you specifically asking about Tobey Hospital? You should call them.
  5. Has anybody tried proactively using Rogaine for Women? Just wondering if that helped.
  6. Thank you. How long did you have to wait for the swallowing test after your surgery? What's a swallow test?
  7. I've shared this before on this site, but I think it applies here too. The best single piece of wisdom I ever took away from therapy is "just because you think a thought, doesn't make it true". Try to be ask kind to yourself as you would a friend.
  8. The something worse has me worried for you. Are you safe? As far as the weight gain, your doctor isn't there to judge. Just be honest. And you are taking steps in the right direction by going to therapy and working towards getting your pill/alcohol consumption under control.
  9. Hi All- I am having my final pre-op appt with my surgeon tomorrow. The only two questions I have for him are about my perscription drugs after my surgery, and how long I need to wait for sex. What questions am I missing? What do you wish you had asked before your surgery?
  10. I'm enjoying Hint waters.
  11. I am not a single mom anymore, but I was for about 6 years. You'll get there. The best advice I can give is make sure you are in the right headspace. Oh, and think about dating against "your type". I went on a date with somebody I never would have thought would be a match for me, and he ended up being the best guy ever (and is now my husband!).
  12. One statement a therapist made to me eons ago really resonated. She said "Just because you think something, doesn't make it true". I can relate. I remember thinking I was fat at 125. I wish I was that "fat" now.
  13. No, I will be doing mine at a hospital in Boston. I am thinking of going to Mexico down the road for plastics though.
  14. Gosh, you sound like me. I'm 5'2 and in my 20s I was always around 125. The psychiatrist said that because of my age, it is an unrealistic goal (I am 45). How old are you? What has your doc said?
  15. I'm just impressed you know what succession planning is!! : )
  16. September 5th! I work from home at a desk job (I do everything via the phone).
  17. +1 for the IUD. I love it.
  18. Of course you would like her support and approval, but at the end of the day only you have to live in your body. You have to make decisions based on that.
  19. She just did a basic physical exam and talked to me about options. It was a light appt.
