  1. I had lapband surgery in August of 2008. I only ever lost 35 lbs. About two years in, half of my band collapsed and wouldn’t hold fluid at all. In 2015 I went to the doc for a revision to sleeve. My doc would not convert from band to sleeve due to increased leak risk. He recommended bypass and my insurance quickly approved. I didn’t want bypass and didn’t go through with it. I tried keto and lost 50 lbs. I didn’t keep it off and was back up to 285 which was my initial band weight the first of this year. I decided to have bypass this year and had to fight insurance for 5 months which was crazy because I was in the same position I was in in 2015. On July 2nd I had my band removed, bypass and my gallbladder removed. I stayed one night in the hospital and went back to work part time a week later and full time a week after that. I’m due to start any diet I want this weekend. This surgery has been a walk in the park for me. No problems at all and finally no stuck food in my throat! I’ve lost 18 lbs and am excited for what’s to come. Why did I wait so long?! If you are on the fence do it ... your life will be so much better. =)
  2. I had bypass 9 days ago and went for my follow up today. The doctor told me I could use tub and pool this weekend. I’m flying out of town at end of the month which his office okayed before my surgery. I would play the jet skiing and such by ear but otherwise I think you’ll be great. I’ll be on all solids at 5 weeks. Maybe check with your doc about their stages for food and make sure you’ll be released by then.
  3. I was just revised to bypass from band last week. I only ever lost about 35 lbs with the band but would have stuck food constantly which made me eat sliders. So far so good. I waited 10 yrs too long to make the change. Good luck!

    Vitamins I love

I have to take two multivitamins in AM and calcium chew two hours after. I then have to take calcium chew at dinner and bedtime as well. I was told not to take calcium with multi so you may want to check into that.

    Pureed Diet Sucks

I started puréed today. I had cottage cheese, retried beans with taco sauce and cheese with sour cream on top and applesauce. It was great to have something different.
  7. I get to start puréed foods Monday. What’s the first puréed food you ate and what was your favorite?
  8. I have the same thing. I had my lap band removed after 10 yrs and my gallbladder out and conversion to bypass on Monday. The doc told me he had to scrape my band away from the muscle and that is why it’s more tender there. The first few days weren’t bad. I quit taking pain meds on wed am but starting yesterday I have those horrible pains and spasms. I can’t take a deep breathe or sneeze without dying. It hurts so much. I called the doc today and they told me that is where the majority of the work was done. It’s weird because I don’t even have an incision where it hurts the most. She told me to splint my chest when it hurts with a pillow but that doesn’t really help. She said time is all that will make it go away.
  9. I had bypass on Monday. I also had lap band removal and my gallbladder out. I left the hospital Tuesday around 6 pm. I stopped pain meds about 6 am Wednesday and have been up all day today. The pain meds we’re knocking me out. I’m having two protein shakes a day, sf popsicles, yogurt and chicken broth. Getting water down is easy for me but probably because I’d been drinking that way with the band. I drove to the mall today and took a short walk. My upper stomach is so swollen and numb. Do you have that? I’m lucky I didn’t have gas pains this time around because it was awful in my shoulder from my band. Ohhh and I was so happy to poop yesterday and today too. =)

    Heartburn

It was a really sharp pain in my chest. I walked and laid flat but it took until the broth was down to go away. I talked to the office today and she told me hot liquids could cause pain for a few weeks but I’m eating warm now lol

    Heartburn

I just had my bypass surgery on Monday this week. I’ve been doing good but have been having pain at my incision sites. I have six of them. One hurts really bad and the doctor said it’s where he had to scrape my band out. I also had my gallbladder removed. I ate broth in the hospital and was fine. I just tried to drink some more and it was hotter than the hospital. I had the worst heartburn feeling. It really hurt. I’ve not had heartburn before. Has anyone experienced this?
