I was devastated the first time I quit losing, and it lasted for two weeks! They say we've "stalled" but the term has a negative vibe to it. I realized it's a period for the body to ADJUST and catch up to the changes going on. And odd issues can happen anytime - I'm 12 weeks out and sometimes my stomach threatens to reject what I sent down there. Some days are great, others are iffy. I've learned to treat my stomach with respect and delicacy. And I don't mind losing slowly, averaging aout 8 oz per day. Slow and steady is just fine.

I’ve only told my husband, my best friend, and people who have had it. I have terrible chronic back pain, which is part of why I am having it, so I’ve told work I’m having a procedure and I’ve mentioned to a few people that after, I will be on a medically supervised diet. I don’t want to tell people and it’s none of their business. :)

yes, your appetite will be non-existent during the initial rapid weight loss phase.
then, as you get to your goal weight, you will notice that you will experience normal hunger sensations again and can comfortably eat more food. this worries a lot of people because they think they are "stretching their pouch" (not a thing) and are on the road to regain. but that is not the case. rather, your body is saying "okay, i'm at the weight i should be at now, lets eat some more food so i don't waste away to nothing!"
in short, as long as you eat healthy whole foods a good 90% of the time, you can let your new appetite be your guide. if your body is hungry, feed it healthy food until you are satisfied. no need to count calories or portion sizes. if you have no appetite/hunger, don't eat! it's pretty simple.
the danger is if you go back to sugary/processed food. don't do that. fast food, junk food, processed food, alcohol, sweets... all of that should be part of your past. those foods distort your body's natural hunger signals (insulin rollercoaster, food reward balance) and you can very well gain weight in the long-term by doing so.

I just tell people I eat the right food, stay away from the bad, control my portions and exercise. All true statements. My medical history is no ones business.

That was me today. We went to get a few groceries and had tea at our favourite cafe. Once we got home though I was exhausted and nauseous. But I'll tell you, a shower and hair washing does wonders to make you feel better, doesn't it?

I make pumpkin Soup for my partner with the pumpkins I grow. Recipe below:
1 Kent pumpkin (it's a green skinned one) peeled and cubed - use whatever you can get
1 sweet potato peeled and cubed
    1 onion diced
Water to cover & 1-2 OXO chicken cubes
Simmer everything over low heat until very well done and mushy. Let cool to room temperature and then puree with a stick blender until it's smooth. Add about 2 cups of skim milk, a dash of ginger and a small dash of cayenne. Puree again with the blender and reheat before eating. It freezes really well, too.

Have you tried strained cream Soups or broths? You need something savory and tasty to fight off the cloying sweets! Good luck, REMEMBER this stage isn't forever. Although after 3+ weeks I Will Not Swear that it ends, Precious Pouch is certain some pureed are EVIL, how do you reason with something without ears. But keep fighting the Good Fight, we all make it through 👣to the sunlight!⛅☀⛅

@H2Nealn Kbridge, Planochick, you have done all you can do, you have prepared to the best of your abilities, lean back, lay quietly, let God and your surgeon handle it from now on. You gals are my T-birds, Texas and Tennessee. And you will do fine, I will be proud of you, and more importantly YOU will be proud of YOU. our approval is cool but this is a🎁 present each of you are giving yourself, A FUTURE. Love, hugs and a kiss on your cheek! Frustr8

The losers bench can be a strange piece of furniture, but it was constucted of our hopes, wishes and dreams. Not Victorian, Chippendale, not even Danish Modern, but most feel it fits them very well. So kbridge and MMME come on down, we are saving a space for 2 here!💑

Hello everyone! How is everyone doing? It has been 15 days since surgery and I have lost 15 lbs (24 lbs total) and 13 inches overall. I saw the doctor and nutritionist yesterday and everything is on track. I had a small blip with a scrambled egg getting stuck last Friday but after calling the doctor, I waited it out and went back to eating pureed foods. I am now on soft foods for the next 2-4 weeks depending on my tolerance. It really boggled my mind when my nutritionist said I could have toasted bread or crackers (saltine or Ritz). After years of different diets, I have to concentrate on the new rules. I don't plan on eating these because I know before surgery I would sit and eat a whole sleeve of Ritz at a time. Thank goodness that my tool will no longer allow me to do that.
I have been very fortunate that I haven't had any of the nausea or dizziness. I have had low energy but I make a point to walk a mile every day (weather permitting). I am suppose to increase that mileage as time goes by to 3 miles. I also am having regular bowel movements which is a relief! LOL
I am heading back to work on Monday to a desk job with a restriction to not lift more than 10 lbs for the next 4 weeks providing that Medical at work clears me.
The only thing is that I am still having pains in my left lower abdomen. My doctor said this is very normal since that is where he did the most work and to expect it to continue for the next 4 weeks. I am no longer taking any pain reliever because if I do, I will over do it. Doctor told me no vacuuming, mopping, reaching, bending for the next 4 weeks because I am still healing from Major Abdominal Surgery!!! LOL I have found that if I wear my binder at night, I can sleep better since I tend to roll over to sleep on my side. I do not wear it during the day because it can still be uncomfortable to sit in certain chairs and the binder adds extra pressure.
Overall, I have to say that I am extremely happy that I had gastric bypass. I am no longer aching in my left hip and other joints. This tells me how much food plays a part on inflammation on my body. Now to remember this so I don't go back to eating and drinking things that I shouldn't. I know they say that eventually everything in moderation is okay but I don't want to feel horrible again.
    Have a great day everyone!!!!

After thinking I might make May-June-July-or August for my surgery, it turns out I will be singing a SEPTEMBER song. Do I have a surgery twin, someone who will be going through this wonderous transformation with me?
