4 minutes ago, allwet said:sounds normal but you dont say how many ounces all those sips add up to.
and what food stage are you on this early, at almost 3 weeks i was still on liquid but all programs are different.
dont worry about what the calories add up to. we all have an over supply of stored energy (fat) so you dont need that right now.
if you are not dehydrated then you are fine.
everything else will come with time. the dehydration can put you in the hospital so that is your priority.
track the ounces you are sipping
Thanks. I’m probably getting about 32oz total per day. I don’t feel dehydrated but I guess I wouldn’t know...

Hi! I’m almost 3 week’s post op sleeve and I am worried about my Fluid intake. I keep a big, cold 32oz tumbler of Gatorade zero, zero cal diet green tea, or Water with me at ALL times. But I can only sip. I feel like I barely get any fluids! Between my Protein Shake and TRYING to eat, I feel like I can’t drink (can’t drink 30 min before or after eating or drinking protein). Since I drink my Protein in 3 sittings, and try to eat 2-3 times a day, that’s 6 hours of the day I can’t drink (bc of the 30 min before and after rule). So I’m trying to sip but I feel like I’m not getting enough! Any tricks?!
Also, I am not peeing hardly at all. MAYBE 3x a day and not a lot comes out. I see my surgeon wed but I thought I’d ask if anybody had any advice/ideas/tricks.
Also..I’m only getting like 8 bites of food in per day. Is that normal? I’m also getting 30g protein and 160 cals from my promier Protein Drink. So I guess that’s better than nothing I guess.
Thanks for any words of advice!

I was on liquid diet the day I got home. Applesauce, yogurt, broth. Everyone’s surgeon is different but yogurt seemed to be the best thing for me!

220 calories, 20 grams of Protein. This is like a donut for Breakfast with your coffee guilt free.
What is this? I’ve never heard of it!

Thanks everyone! I’ll make sure to stay away from pb for a while!

Im officially on soft foods and barely ate today so I thought a tablespoon of Peanut Butter would fill me up and give me a tiny bit of Protein. I’ve felt sick to my stomach ever since. Is peanut butter known to be a bad food for a sleeve? Thanks for any info!

Thank you!!! I thought we all had the same Vitamin regimen...do different doctors give diff amounts?

Has anyone ever ordered the vitamin patches that bariatric pal sells? What were your thoughts? Is it around the same price as pills? Do we get absolutely everything we need? Thanks for any info!

My doctor said no alcohol for 18 MONTHS! I never planned on following this bc I’ve researched and he’s the only one who has that long of a wait time. I do plan on waiting a few months tho. Since the sugar is part of the problem, I plan on drinking vodka and Water and bring a sugar-free koolaid squeeze thing with me. It’s the lowest sugar drink you could have. Someone said vodka and soda but I thought carbonation was super bad for us...isn’t it?

Fuzzy socks or slippers. The socks the hospital gave me were huge! I was so glad I brought my own!

My doctor is VERY adamant that his patients have one. I explained that I didn’t want one and that it would keep me from getting the surgery. He said no problem, we won’t give you one. I think if you explain it to the doctor and he or she thinks they might lose a $40k surgery over it, they might let it slide. Just my opinion!

Healing has been ok. The first three to four days was pure misery for me because of the Gas bubble they pumped inside of me during surgery. Other than that nothing really hurt at all. All my incisions are healing perfectly. I was really sick of the liquid diet afterwards so I start my soft foods diet five days early and I’ve been doing great. I was super hungry the first 10 days after surgery, but the past three days I could have not eaten once and never would have thought about it. I have zero appetite which is great! The diet before sucks but believe me, unlimited veggies and one lean mean a day is better than anybody else’s pre op diet I’ve ever heard of lol

An issue I had too (I know it's TMI) was I pretty much never pooped either. I was on a liquid diet for 2 weeks pre-op too, then clear fluids, then full liquids THEN puréed then FINALLY soft food. It took me some time to lose at first but then it started and stalled and started again (we all will have annoying stalls) now I'm on a streak of great loss. You'll do great! Go slow with soft food.
Thanks for the advice. I’m doing ok. Still not losing weight but I’m feeling a little better and started myself on soft foods. I’m eating tiny portions and chewing a lot and I haven’t had a single problem! I am pooping here and there. But not a lot. I’m hoping that when I go to the dr on wed I’ll have made some progress!!!

You’re soooooo lucky to have a lean meal a day. I got nothing, only liquids. I took a pudding, applesauce, and yogurt (all in already packaged cups from the grocery store so I didn’t have to physically pack anything) to work everyday and drank lots of fluids to help me think I was full. Of course I was starving lol but I got through it.

Im on liquids (phase 2) for two weeks then I move straight to soft foods. No purée phase. I start soft foods Tuesday but today I wanted to see if I could stomach some soft foods bc it was my kids’ bday party and I had Mexican catered and also bc I didn’t want ppl asking why I wasn’t pigging out like usual. I ate about 6-8 bites of refried Beans, ground beef, salsa, and cheese. I felt GREAT! Not a single problem. Man did it feel good to eat normal food (well normal enough for now). I think introducing a bite here and there won’t hurt. I do think eating hard stuff and too much of it might hurt! Hope this helps!

I did liquid diet TWO weeks prior. So FOUR weeks total. I just don’t understand

13 minutes ago, magpie26 said:I constantly forget to drink my fluids! Granted I'm 11 weeks out but if I don't drink 8 ounces first thing in the morning it's a bad start for me. Your body is all sorts of confused and your scale is your worst enemy right now. Drink your fluids, I seriously have to put reminders on my phone (still!) all day long! It's going to happen, you won't be fat forever, I thought the same thing. I sometimes still think that because I've lost 53 pounds since April and I'm only 1 size down in pants but I'm like 4 in tops. It will happen, put your scale away for at least a few days and you'll step back on it and you'll have gone down like five pounds. It happened to me just a few weeks ago after a almost 2 week stall.
Thanks. I didn’t know we could drink 8 ounces at once. I just always have a cold drink handy and sip all day. Maybe after a few weeks I can drink more at once?

16 minutes ago, FancyChristine15 said:I'm 3 months out. I'm not gonna lie, I HATED the liquid diet phase. It was tough, but you have to do it to give your new tummy time to heal. Like Orchids said, your stomach is probably swollen. A lot of people gain weight while in the hospital due to Water retention. Don't have a negative attitude toward the procedure this early into your journey. If you follow your doctor's advice, it will work. Don't be discouraged. Keep going. Call your doctor and see if you're ready to move into the next phase. I asked my doctor if I could move on, and they let me do it a couple days early.
Thanks, I guess that’s the best way of putting it, I’m discouraged. Especially when you read all these other post about ppl losing 40 pounds after week two. It’s exhausting

Thanks. I don’t transition to purees, my doc has me go straight to soft food next tues (two weeks post op).

I had my sleeve done June 26th so I’m still on the liquids diet. I physically cannot do it anymore. I can’t take another bite of yogurt or pudding. I can do my Protein Drink, drink some liquids, and have maybe half a yogurt and a scoop of cottage cheese throughout the day. I’m drinking some liquids but I keep forgetting to drink constantly. Additionally, I haven’t lost a single pound since surgery. I know ppl will say “oh your body is in starvation mode”. For ten days? And not a pound? I don’t think so. I feel like this surgery literally didn’t work for me and I’ll starve and be fat forever. Anybody else feeling his way?!
