I am taking Humira now - it has helped somewhat. But I had to stop to prep for the surgery or else it makes me prone to not healing and infections. I don't mind going back on ...the risk is that it won't work when I go back on....I'll keep you posted on how it goes. I just hope..HOPE that I can lose weight and hope that I don't flare

First off, Congrats on your weight loss! You did great. And BTW, you're absolutely gorgeous.
As for your breast adjustment. I agree, not too over the top. The surgeon did an excellent job and they are very proportional to your body size/waist.
I want!! I've already lost 15 lbs and I feel like they are drooping to Timbuktu!
Thank you for posting, for sure! I'm more motivated than ever!

Here's some recipes that my dietitian gave - y'all may have the same ones. Some of the flavor may help to get the Protein down.

I'm a week post op and mostly my stomach aches when I stand up - and I think it's just b/c my belly is pulling. Otherwise they did give me a LOT of oxycotin. I didn't take any either. I have NO idea what I'm going to do with this stuff..LOL. My incisions do itch tho'. A lot. Which I guess means they are healing.

Two days til surgery - lets get this thing going!! Life has been super hectic since I started the 2 week preop liquid diet... my car was totalled by a wrong way driver the day I started (everyone is ok...my poor new car is in SUV heaven) so every moment I have has been spent on working, dealing with that or trying to find a new car before I have surgery. Which, I will admit, has helped distract me! I cheated big time on Saturday - after 12 hours of car shopping AFTER working a 10 hour overnight shift at work - I was tired, crabby and...yes...STARVING. So...I MAY have had about 2 ounces of salmon with my miso broth dinner. Ok..and a potsticker and a half. Only human

Well I am on day 3 post surgery. My friends, this ain’t no joke. The struggle is real. I was, or thought I was prepared for the pain. I was pretty well prepared for the logistics thanks to everyone on here. But I was not at all mentally prepared to be totally helpless. Sure I knew I wouldn’t be able to brush or wash my hair, but I didn’t think about other stuff like feeding myself or getting a sip of Water. I am usually the caretaker, not the patient. That part is hard for me.
My hands are so swollen that I can’t make a fist. I wasn’t prepared for that either. This is the most I have been on my phone using only my thumb.
I am glad I knocked out the worst surgery first. No regrets! Oh I will find out how much the skin weighed Friday. I am excited to find out and get these drains out! God bless you all.

I've been having mixed feelings as well - from fear to euphoria to terror to uncertainty to wondering if I'll miss certain foods, to wondering if my husband will hate me b/c we won't be able to eat out for a while or the way we used to...to wondering if I'm strong enough. But then I read these forums and the success stories and I get pumped again@!
You can do it. You will do well. It will do wonders for your health and for YOU want in your life.<3

If the person next to you is a bariatric surgery and vomits, they aren’t likely to be vomiting anything with an odor after weeks of a pre op diet and then being nothing by mouth before surgery.
    I wouldn’t worry so much.

I'm in the 'maybe February' pile, but I just wanted to pop by you lovely January folks to wish you the best of luck. It's so inspiring to see how you're going... and I'll admit, I'm so relieved to finally not feel so alone 😃
    Keep being Awesome!

    Surgery Date 01/07/2019

My surgery went well, I was up and walking the next day, drinking my Protein, and wasn't nauseous not even once. So I got to go home the next day

This is day 3 post-op. I am doing well, although I slept most of yesterday away, I believe I needed to catch up on sleep, since sleep in the hospital is in 2 hour intervals, someones always waking you up for something lol

Today I've been up all day, walking around, playing on the computer. I've had some pain but not anything that cant be controlled. The drinking thing has been hard. Making sure i get my protein in. So mainly right now I'm on 2x Protein Shakes a day, i split them up so that I'm only handling 4oz at a time. Drinking Water and power-aid zero all day. And today I measured out 2oz sf Jello and 2oz beef broth for lunch. I think i'm going to do ok with my new stomach. I worry about stretching it, but from what I've read 4 oz. on the liquid diet is not the same as solid food. I usually take my time and get full from 4oz of liquid.

So far so good, I am so happy with my decision to do this.

On January 9, 2019, The CDC issued a Level 2 Alert about Drug-Resistant Infections at Dr. Almanza's Grand View Hospital in Tijuana, Mexico. The Mexican government has closed Grand View Hospital until further notice:
    Key Points
Recently, some US residents returning from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, were diagnosed with infections caused by an antibiotic-resistant form of Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. All of the travelers with this particular infection had an invasive medical procedure performed in Tijuana. Most (but not all) of them had weight-loss surgery. About half of those infected had their surgery done at the Grand View Hospital. Based on information provided by the CDC, the Mexican government has closed the Grand View Hospital until further notice. CDC recommends that travelers to Tijuana, Mexico, not have surgery at the Grand View Hospital until the Mexican government can confirm that the drug-resistant form of Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria is no longer there We urge all BariatricPal members to stay far away from Dr. Almanza and Grand View Hospital.

Alright. I need everyone to know. Not crazy when I talk about Water quality. I went away and didn't reup my supply of good stuff so when I returned home I had to drink tap( boil and filter)
Massive heart burn all the way into my esophagus. I thought coincidence because of course it's not water causing reflux, so i employed the scientific method, continued the research and sure enough, It's the F'ing water.
Also, I ate whatever I wanted on vacay... So there a confession.

This is my first post on BariatricPal and my journey started today!!!! I had my initial consult with my doctor today. My starting and heaviest weight is 286 and I'm 5'10. This is my last opportunity at this due to this being a lifetime of yoyo dieting. I met with pa, dietitian, and surgeon today. I have to have a upper endoscopy scheduled for February, pysch eval, cardiac clearance and clearance from a hematologist. My insurance doesn't require any structured diet but the surgeon requires a 3 month structured diet which is understandable. So I just wanted to introduce myself and hope that I can get some excellent feedback from BariatricPal. I will keep you guys updated on my journey... Here we go...

Oh that sucks so bad that you didn't have the PTO days!!!
Mine just restarted, so i am lucky. Plus my boss made an exception and let me carry over a week from 2018 into this year for my surgery. I only get 3 weeks vacation per year, so that is nice.

And holy **** how awesome of your boss to hire you a housekeeper!!!! That is just amazing!!!!! you are SO LUCKY.
I've had surgery before that had me on lifting and bending restrictions, so my family knows the drill. I'm lucky there, BUT now there is only 1 kid left at home....luckily it is our youngest and he is by far momma's boy. LOL He is very helpful so when my husband goes back out on the road a few days after my surgery, he will step in to help. And my neighbor told me last night that she would have him over for dinner any night so I don't have to cook for him. LOL

I had my surgery Jan 7th and I have to say afterwards was awful! My suregon said I had more pain than probably 90% of his patients. They kept giving me morphine which does not work on pain for me (didn't work when my gallbladder was removed either). So finally one nurse listened to me and got my meds switched to dilaudid which helped tremendously. The 8th went pretty good I walked a lot and got in quite a bit of water/broth/ Jello. Yesterday I got to go home the car ride home didn't make me feel so great. But I'm so glad to be home. My pain isn't very bad now and I can move around doing the little things I need to. I'm getting my Protein Shakes in and my Water.

hey there - I actually went back to work Monday? yes, Monday. I apparently ran out of PTO days so! had to go back early. It was ok. My insides are still adjusting to where they need to 'sit'. I have not been able to keep up with everything I need to "eat" as far as fluids. My stomach says it is just too much so I think I'm a little swollen.
I did overdo it b/c I also worked my 8-10 hours, washed clothes, vacuumed, cleaned the kitchen washed dishes and then sat down to work. TBH, it *was* TOO much. I didn't feel the best. But by yesterday I was fine again and today I actually feel as though I never had the surgery. I am taking it slow b/c I don't want to risk anything.
YAY for only a 24-hour pre-op diet!! That's great. But I have to say, I'm not craving anything. It's so wierd. I only ask that my husband not eat anything crazy in front of me that will turn me into a insane person. I think I do have triggers..LOL.
20 days...the time will FLY!!!! Congrats!!
