Surgery this month, wife threatening divorce
Why would you be eating weird food? I'm not. I'm eating a normal balanced diet in small portions. Go ahead with the op and look after yourself. She'll either be pleased for you when she sees how much healthier you are, or she won't. The onus is on her to sort her head out while you sort your body out.

What's the immediate recovery like? (Days 1-4 post op)
I've had 5 lots of abdominal surgery...this one was the easiest recovery (because I wasn't actually ill to begin with).

Orthostatic Hypotension
I used to get it regularly, but its eased off now. Maybe yours will too!

Constipation
I've said it before and I'll say it again - prunes, prunes and more prunes! ??
-
Regain
Intermittent fasting might do the trick.

UK forum users
Once you're on sloppy solids, tuna mashed up with mayonnaise packs a lot of protein and slips down nicely.

Loose skin dilemma
You've put whoopy on the back burner because of this? Nooooo! It's your basic human right! If you are afraid to get your kit off in case your amore judges you negatively, then replace him/her with someone less shallow. If you are afraid to get your kit off in case you judge yourself negatively, you can always do what my Other Half suggested to me (when I was feeling similarly sensitive): - "Stop looking in the mirror so much." ? I know that sounds glib and insensitive, but that's what it boils down to. I took his advice, and my floppy bits don't bother me so much any more. ?

Could i smoke after 1 month ?
I really have sympathy for you: this kind of addiction can't be beaten just by motivational platitudes. Initially giving up smoking is not the hard part - you have to decide to give up every day for years and years - that's the hard part. Finding alternative activities is helpful, but some day you will fall down and smoke again. Having a plan for when you fall off the wagon is the key. I suppose some people could say that that is just planning for failure, but I disagree. It's just planning for the day that your human weaknesses get the better of you. Everyone here has those days. You're giving up two addictions at once and that's harder than giving up one(!) Having re-read this, I realise that I sound quite strident. I don't mean to be disrespectful of anyone who has given helpful or genuinely-meant advice.

First signs of gallstones?
Thanks for the reply. I just had an ultrasound scan and gallstones were visible on it. My GP appointment isn't until 16th January, but as I'm not in any pain at the moment, that's OK. I will ask about bile salts when I see her!

First signs of gallstones?
Well I had my scan today (told you it was a long wait - but at least it was free!). Apparently, I have several small gallstones. I've been told to make an appointment with my GP and discuss what to do. As I've only had 5 attacks of severe pain in the last 17 months, I'm thinking I might just grin and bear it, especially as I've heard that having your gallbladder out can alter the way you digest fat and cause the trots in the long term. Has anyone here done that? Or, has anyone had the op and not experienced any digestive issues after it? Thanks in advance for any replies!

Confessional - Lets post our cheats/confessions/etc so others can see that we are all human
Well I've put 2 lbs on over Christmas, but I enjoyed eating all the special treats - in small portions! I don't mind though - I know how to get it off again. Think I'll do a bit of intermittent fasting in the new year!

Cold
I use microwavable slippers and gloves!

Shorter menstrual cycles, lighter flow, Endometriosis, constipation, fertility
My heart goes out to you. I experienced exactly the same as you with endo/painkillers/constipation. I tried everything to ease it. In the end, it was a combination of Dulcoease, prunes, lots of water and suppositories that made it bearable (though it was never easy). Ultimately, I had a hysterectomy because I had Stage 4 endo and 3 lots of surgery didn't fix it for me. However, I know 2 other women who had endo and did conceive. It was a struggle, but they succeeded in the end. Fingers crossed for you.

Weight Standstill
I do weigh myself every day. Sometimes I stall, sometimes I lose weight, sometimes I put on a pound. But over the months, the overall trend has been downwards. If you're doing the right thing, it will come off.

Non Scale Victories
I actually sat on my OH's lap at the bowling alley, without crushing him and without sliding off! We were both so chuffed, he jiggled me about and we engaged in a bit of comedy-canoodling.....at which point, I heard a small voice in the next lane saying "Look mum! It's Miss H____ from school!" Typical, eh?! ??

Those last 14 lbs....
Somebody on this forum recommended using Smart BMI as a more realistic calculation (especially if you're not a spring chicken like me!). https://www.smartbmicalculator.com/ According to this, my weight is acceptable for my age and height - yours might be too!

First signs of gallstones?
Went to the doc's today...she reckons I might have gallstones, so is referring me for a scan...so I wasn't barking up entirely the wrong tree.

Switching to soft foods
tuna mashed up in low fat mayo...yum yum yum yum yum! ?

First signs of gallstones?
Thanks for the replies guys. I haven't been in agony like you've described, so maybe it's not serious. I'll see the doc anyway though. ?

First signs of gallstones?
Well....the title says it all really. I was wondering what the first signs of gallstones were for those of you who suffered from them after being sleeved. I've had a couple of episodes lasting a few days (a couple of months apart) of severe abdominal pain after eating anything containing even a little fat. I wasn't sick or nauseous and didn't have diarrhoea (though my stools weren't right). It didn't feel like dumping syndrome. I've tested my urine with a dipstick and there's elevated levels of urobilinogen in it. I've got a doctor's appointment, but there's quite a long wait for it, and the pain seems to have passed. I've had recent blood tests that show I've been getting adequate vitamins and iron. Does that ring a bell with anyone? ps On the plus side, I lost 4 lbs in a week while my tummy was dodgy!

Sleeve Tips for the journey
I'd like to add to the list.... 27. Budget for replacement clothes...it will cost you £££££s (or for most people here - $$$$) and you will probably need to do it after 6 month, after 12 months....blah blah blah...

Lowest point before surgery
Hey NYJenn - I've just looked at your stats and we're nearly gastro-twins! Roughly the same surgery date, starting weight and weight loss so far! (Although I'm 51 and you're still a spring chicken). How cool is that?! ? My turning point was seeing a very obese woman in a mobility scooter trying to get up a steep hill. It looked like it wasn't going to make it. My first thought was - how is she going to get up that hill if the scooter breaks down? My second thought was - that's going to be me in a few years if I don't sort myself out. Scary stuff.
