I am 4 weeks post op today and have lost 17 pounds total. Slow go last couple weeks but doctor said all is normal. Have lost 3 inches around my waist and an inch on my arms. I have also noticed alot of change in my face. So that makes it all worth while. Even if the scale is not moving the clothes are!

I have not posted in ages and all was going good til yesterday. Went on my first long hike and ended it with major dumping syndrome. I mean bad news. I even got an extra added bonus of my extremeties going completely numb for about 15 minutes which sent me into a panic attack. Horrible experience.. So been resting today and eating cautiously.. I had not even eaten anything sweet or naughty before the horrid event.. all in all been happy and down 35 since 9/13

So my son, who is 13, asked me today what it's like when I am hungry. I said its the same as when you are hungry. My brain wants to eat a horse! But then i get my food and eat my few bites of whatever and get this sense of having to stop through discomfort not through mental satisfaction. I had to explain that the joy of eating is not there anymore. Like looking at yummy things is all good and my brain still says YAY.. but my body just says.. ya right. So this is the hardest thing for me. The mind bending fact that having a nice meal will never be. I mean I know we can eat whatever we want etc.. but the factors of sitting down to a nice dinner out or holiday meal.. its all gone in that way. My brain is depressed about the social factors of this surgery. My body is stoked to be down 25 pounds in 2 months ofcourse.. but i'm just hoping this is all newbie syndrome and my mental state will improve.
    Just had to rant.

One thing I’ve noticed is that I can have half of anything. Half a hot dog, half a McDonalds Breakfast sandwich, etc. etc. So, one day, at minimum, you’ll be able to have half an enchilada.

I've been charting BP since home from hospital on spreadsheet along with oximeter and weight. Cardiologist said stop, PCP concurred and gave me numbers to watch for if it creeps up so I could resume meds if necessary. So far, so good - don't need 'em!

Hey Ellie! Hope all is well. Frust8 good luck on your thing too!

I’m down to 207.6!!!! I have been this low since 2012!!! And I was on some crazy diet and diet pills to get this low!! (Basically a super concentrated caffeine pill, was eating nothing for breakfast but an apple and Water, lunch and dinner were freezer meals that were low cal and supposedly healthy and I was doing Zumba every day for an hour and I still couldn’t break the into the 100’s)

I noticed some loose skin yesterday and it threw me off I knew it was coming but omg it’s terrible!! I’m going to up my water intake and run oils on my skin and add weights in. I ran out of my 9 round trial :( sad. So I downloaded p90 and am starting that today.

Kind of scared of the lose skin.

I made it to London with out a Sticture!!!! Got a hotel with a kitchen, grocery shopped for good stuff and my USB blender did a fantastic job of making me Green Smoothie this morning! Today I packed some healthy Snacks to take, went walking in Hyde Park where I had me a picnic, then focused on touring Palaces and such (saw Lady Diana’s gowns on display at Kensington Palace (men she was 5’10” and skinny!!! How in the world did she do it!?), and ate the world with my eyes not stomach. Then came back to hotel to my simple meal of British Sut pea Soup, various Beans, hummus, Babaghanouch salad
, yesterday I had chicken veggie soup and huge Blueberries There is a LOT of temptation here, even the breakfast buffet croissants gave me a hard time passing them by... gosh I wanted one so bad! But I did not give in! Taking it one day at a time...

oh oh and I brought my Travel scales with me to keep me honest!

My Dear Bari Sisters and Brothers. I’m alive! Hallelujah! But I’ve been through the ringer. The ER visit last Thursday did not help. I was throwing up every 10-15minutes on Friday. It got...bad....Started having numbing of fingers and toes and felt like an Elephant had taken a seat on my chest. Hubby failed 911. Long story short, I wounded up in bad shape at my surgeons hospital and was admitted right away. I was displaying classic acute Stricture symptoms. And I was severely dehydrated. I thought they would just scope and dilate me, and that would be that. But nope! Surgeon was gone for the day and I had to begin a LONG and exhausting wait for Monday to come, and I had not eaten since Wednesday night! Ofcourse they did their favorite thing and put me on Nothing by mouth... It was torture. Thirsty, naucious, the minutes oozed like molasses, waiting, suffering. They tried to make me comfortable but...the wait was excruciating. My highlights were the kids and hubby visiting in the evenings. I hated kids to see me this way.

Monday morning finally came and I was SO excited. Relief was surely on the way. So you can imagine how I literally BLEW A FUSE when my surgeon waltzed in at 1:30PM and instead of prioritizing me and putting me out of my misery, asap, he proceeded to to into Surgery to do a Tummy TUCK! Lets just say I got the hospital director involved. Problem is...he owns the whole center, he’s the ultimate CEO, what’s she gonna do...call the boss? GRRRRR.....I was livid! The added stress is that I knew I had a flight to Europe on Thursday (ie. Today!). I was not scoped till 5:30PM Monday, and was in limbo for a while from anesthesia. They kept me Tuesday through evening to make sure I could tolerate liquids, the softs and fed me well before they cut me loose. It tasted like heaven. heck, my shoe would have tasted like heaven at that point.

Got home at mid-night Tuesday and had one short Wednesday (in my compromised state of energy), to get the house as in order as I could, work, pack, think through what I need to take to be successful on my first Airplane ride and long haul trip since surgery). Stress was the word, but i prayed my way through it. I even got a USB chargeable blender on Amazon.
The kids were so happy to have mama home. My 8 year old son and 6 year old daughter. And then came this morning...and as I was dropping them in school, I had to let them know mama has to go out of town till next Friday. :(

I bearly made my flight. I have a whole suitcase of Bariatric stuff. If I had more time I would have documented what all I prepared. But alas, I was RUSHING!
I just landed in New Orleans and the first leg of my journey went well. I ate a bit of airport bought humus on the flight. Waited 2mins between bites for good measure! Had two mini pretzels and drank Water in between.

I am about to board the big Transatlantic flight. Nervous about how I will do. I will always live with the trepidation that a Stricture might return. Cabin pressure and all...but God has not given me the spirit of fear, so I press on.

Hope you are all doing great. I have had zero chance to catch up. Please, do say a little prayer for me!

    Love and hugs,

PS: Attached area pics of the lovely flowers kids and hubby brought, my heavenly first meals, and the card my son made for me.

I noticed we had surgery only 4 days apart. First let me say you have already done an amazing job with your weight loss! I had a 3 weeks stall recently that finally broke last week and I was so thrilled to see the scale move again. I was still losing inches during that time as I bet you are too. My surgeon was not concerned at all when I saw him last week. You will break through this stall! I found increasing my Water intake helped a lot to get things moving again.

I had mine also on the 13th. Doing good so far with everything.. gas is finally subsided.. just feeling hungry! Its odd.. i am struggling getting in enough Water cus it seems such a steep hill to climb. Doing shakes and Jello and popsicles..just want to eat! But i know I cant. I think watching tv makes this all harder cus the commercials for food are constant! I never really noticed it before now!

I honestly had no pain from my surgery. I had laparoscopic surgery, so my incisions were only about an inch long. There were 4 of them and they were held together with "glue" and had a piece of tape over each. The only pain I had was some gas pain, up in my left armpit. As long as I didn't move a certain way, I was fine. It dissipated after a few hours.

I had the sleeve 9/13. Still dealing with the gas in my chest, shoulders and back. But otherwise moving around fine and getting my Vitamins and Protein. I lost 58 lbs pre surgery and 3 since. Very happy with my decision.

I have told everyone for 2 reasons.. so they are aware I am going in for surgery.. as well as so they don't think something is wrong with me when I start drastically losing weight! I wouldn't want to have to have people think i have some illness and not feel comfortable about asking about it.

I just got a cpap machine and hate it. I don't have issues sleeping but my surgeon is making me use it for 90 days. I don't get it but its just not working for me at all. it was my 3rd night with it last night and i took it off after an hour. I guess this has something to do with insurance approval maybe? I got the nasal pillow too but can't stand wearing it..

That's good its worked for others.. i have no trouble sleeping though. I did the sleep study earlier this week and they gave me the cpap before i even did the study! Like I said I think its an insurance requirement issue.. ugh.

I did an at home one first and which was with this wrist monitor.. and they said that came back that i had mild sleep apnea.. HMMM.. then they made me do the in-house one this week. I agree think its a way to make money out of insurance as i have not had to pay a penny out of pocket for any of that. They got my insurance to approve before i did them.
