  1. It's been awhile since i've posted, but here to give a brief update. I have finally made it to Onederland! I was shocked when I saw the scale with numbers below 200. I am overjoyed though, because it means i'm progressing and that I made the right decision. It hasn't been an easy road, but I can say it's been well worth it. I now have about 31 pounds left to lose, to be at my goal weight. My weight has come off faster than I expected, but I am coping with it pretty well so far. I can say it feels good to be able to fit into a size 12 again (although I don't think I will be in them for long).

  2. @AlteredReality Your kind words mean a lot. We started our journeys at about the same time, so we'll forever be buddies in that sense. Isn't it funny how we know better about things like comparing but allow our minds to make irrational conclusions anyway?

My oldest son and his wife (both doctors) sent me some unflavored collagen peptides 18g Protein today. All I see is that it contains bovine hide collagen peptides. Why don't they just say cow hide?! I guess the kids sent this because it supports skin, hair, nail and joint support. Not sure what'll do for my cramping, but I'm willing to try it. I wonder if adding it to something hot* would degrade the ingredients.

*After reading the label more carefully it says that I can add it to Water, coffee, smoothies, and recipes. The ingredients are easily digestible, mix in hot or cold liquids and can be taken any time of day.
I'm thankful for you and the way you always have something good to share, as well as great words of encouragement. Yes we will always be buddies in this journey. I hope the peptides work well for you. It's great that it will help with hair. I know I have to get something to help in that area, due to my hair starting to shed really bad, from the weight loss. My surgeon recommended Biotin supplements, so I will try them out and see if it helps. Keep your head up and don't get discouraged!

  3. Hey, AlteredReality. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Amazing results. I am sooo happy for you.
It's hard, though, not to compare results. My guess is that my slower weight loss has something to do with the fact that I have been unable to fully incorporate exercise into my plan. I have; however, broken my first milestone of 250, so there's that. My next milestone will be under 200.
My leg still cramps up. I'll be seeing my new primary today. (The primary I adored --the one who believed my pain, and treated me like a valuable person-- just retired.[emoji20] ) This crampy leg is not the pain I'm referring to. My challenge is the chronic pain in my right ankle THAT CANNOT BE FIXED.
Thank you so much. Congrats on making 250! Try not to compare your progress though. We all lose at different paces. I know it can feel somewhat disappointing at times, when you're not seeing a lot of weight coming off. You're just dealing with other health issues, that are making things go at a slower pace. Don't beat yourself up about it. Just do what you can. Exercising sitting down, doing low impact exercises would be a good way for you to be active. Just don't over push yourself. I hope your new doctor will be able to help you. I'm rooting for your success![emoji4]

  4. Today makes 6 weeks since my surgery and I officially go back to regular foods. It has definitely been a journey, learning my new stomach during this process. I have begun to eat food that I never liked before and certain foods that I used to love, I truly despise now. I have learned my stomach no longer likes chicken and i'm okay with that. Vegetables are my best friend so far. Some sugar free drinks actually taste too sweet and I have to Water them down. My weight is coming off at a steady and not too rapid pace, which I am glad of. I can tell the difference with the weight I have lost so far. I can now walk up a flight of stairs normally. I used to have to walk one step at a time. My blood pressure and sleep apnea are steadily improving and I have more energy now. I am happy that I went through with the surgery overall.

  5. @AlteredReality. Where art thou? Has your pain subsided? How is your Protein intake?
Thank you for checking in on me. The worse part of the pain has finally eased up thankfully. I do end up with some pain from time to time, mainly at night. I'm finally getting in enough Protein and liquids. It takes me about 2 hours to finish 8oz of Protein Shakes. So i'm pretty much sipping protein shakes off and on all day. Had a couple bouts of too much in my stomach. Couldn't feel where I had taken in anything. Figured out what the issue was pretty quick though. I realized I don't do well with warm liquids. So I have to have everything ice cold, to be able to tell when my stomach has had enough. How are things going for you though?

  6. I forgot to ask. Are you home or still in the hospital? I only stayed overnight and was discharged the following day on what my surgeon called a "conditional discharge" -- translation: I had to be able to get up and walk (my favorite part!), drink enough fluids, and juggle three rolls of toilet paper in the air. Just kidding about the second condition, er, I mean the last condition.
I had surgery on Monday and was home Tuesday. I pushed myself to walk, despite the fact I was in pain from a couple of my incisions. Made sure I was getting in my fluids in though. It's now 3 days post-op and i'm feeling better as each day passes. I'm just struggling with getting in my Protein, but my surgeon says it's okay if I don't get it all in. She says after the first week, it will get easier for me. I just have to learn my new stomach

  7. Hey, Girl. I noticed that you changed your surgery status from pre-surgery to post-surgery FIRST THANG! Woo-hoo. Just one of many exciting changes to come (some more exciting than others, I hope. Some of the changes in the first few weeks after our surgeries are challenging, but we can handle them, right?!!)
Exactly two weeks post-op for me, and the next phase of my post-op diet. Whoopty-blah.

Yes I made to the post-op stage and i'm super happy about it! Thanks for being so supportive and encouraging! Congratulations on hitting the 2 week mark!!!

  8. omg hon im just seeing this but your probably packing last minute things for hospital and giving last minute kisses just remember its gonna be ok the worst part is waiting there getting thirsty oh goodness the thirst lol but tucker thru okay you got this hon speedy wishes and best of luck
    Thank you!

  9. That is one of my concerns. I have an appendectomy scar (about 8" long). My surgeon said it should be fine. I'm still worried it will be in the way. Not to mention 2 prior C sections, I'm sure those won't be in the way.

Sent from my Alcatel_5056O using BariatricPal mobile app

All my incisions were above the navel, due to the fact I had too much scar tissue from other surgeries below the navel. I'm feeling a lot better now though. Just have a little soreness around it and some occasional pains that shot through like a labor pain. You will do fine though. They use an ultrasound to see where and how much scar tissue you have

  10. And Glory Glory, Reality is forever Altered! Now than you are, preparing to leave Twoferville for Onderland , you can give your place in Twoferville to me. After my July, surgery I am planning to move to Twoferville from Three- how, much did you say- town . It was a big place and I did fit there, but I plan to escape it . No looking behind, well you couldn't see much except the size of my behind anyway. Congratulations and best wishes for the future, both yours and mine!
Thank you and I wish you the best as well. Your time will be here before you know it and I will be cheering you on!

  11. I had my surgery on 21 June and can tell u that pain would subside by 3 or 4th day. Pls make sure u walk as much as u can. It really helps in lifting mood.
    Best of luck...
Thank you and congratulations on a successful surgery. I've been able to do a bit more walking today. Just trying to keep moving despite the pain

  12. I am seriously struggling with the pre-op diet.....I have no problem doing a liquid only diet, except that my doctor requires a certain "kit" and I am kind of a picky eater.....(go figure) so I didn't get the chance to see what flavors/ brands I would like best. But, the shakes are the worst!! Chalky, lumpy (from powder mix) and I have to add milk instead of Water, and I do not like milk (never been a milk drinker) It's a struggle for me to get even 2 down out of 5 I am supposed to have every day. I am not hungry, I can easily skip it with no problem......good news, surgery is next week. Bad news, I have 2 teenage sons who are always eating! LOL

    Thanks for listening......
Congratulations on getting a surgery date. Some of the Protein Shakes are kind of on the gross side. I found Dymatize Protein Powder to be pretty good. It doesn't have a chat chalky flavor and isn't thick. It's 120 calories, 1 carb, 0 sugars per each 5-6 ounce serving. I got it in the classic chocolate flavor. It's thin when mixed with Water, I don't know about with milk though. Hope you find something that works soon.

  13. Surgery went well yesterday. Ended up with horrible gas pain and extra pain due to my incisions. I had a hernia repair years ago and one of my incisions had to go through some scar tissue. So that may the pain almost unbearable. I felt like I was in labor and could barely get up to walk they way I needed to. It's almost 6am and i'm still in some pain and a little nauseous now. Despite the pain, i'm still happy that I made the decision to have it done.
