    Gallbladder Sludge

For the past couple of weeks, life felt unbearable due to a 2 inch stomach ulcer. I stayed in the hospital for 6 days because of it. After being discharged from the hospital, I was still in pain and the vomiting didn't let up either. None of the medicines they gave me on discharge worked. Went to see the gastroenterologist yesterday and was informed that I have sludge in my gallbladder and that it was primarily the cause of the ulcer developing. I never knew, until yesterday that could happen. So my gastroenterologist recommended that my gallbladder be removed, because that will be the most beneficial way to eliminate the ulcer problem so that the ulcer can heal. Now I just have to meet with the surgeon. He also gave me some new medications. I was told after surgery by my surgeon, that gallstones were possible due to rapid weight loss. However, I was never informed that gallbladder sludge could be possible.
  2. Up until this point I have been very happy with my progress. However, at times I feel like i'm losing too much too fast. I have currently hit my goal weight of 165 lbs.(i'm actually 164 lbs.) and before hitting it, I thought of changing it to 145 lbs. I looked at myself in the mirror this morning and didn't recognize the reflection that was looking back at me, because I hadn't taken the time to really really look at myself before today. Anyone else going through this? RNYGB SD: 6/25/2018 HW: 300 LBS. SW: 246 LBS. CW: 164 LBS. GW: 165 LBS.
  3. Whew!!! Time has flown by so fast!!! The 25th of this month makes a full year since WLS. I have had some up and down moments, but never any regrets about having it done. I'm so amazed at the weight I have lost and I am loving the positive way it has improved my health and gave me a new lease on life. Down to a size 4 and some 5's. I'm embracing the physical changes my body has endured through this journey. Best wishes to those who are on this journey...you got this!!! Stay encouraged and never give up on yourself [emoji175] RNYGB: 06/25/2018 HW: 300 LBS. SW: 246 LBS. 1st GOAL WEIGHT: 165 LBS. CW: 148 2nd GOAL WEIGHT: 145LBS.

  11. It's been a minute since I updated anything, but here it is! I am now in a size 5...never thought I would be in that size without a 2 in front of it!!! Still trying to cope with the reflection in the mirror, because she's so foreign to me still. I have moments of just being down, because I no longer look the same. I miss some of the physical attributes I used to have. I feel like i'm in middle school again when I look at myself...flat chested once again (never thought that would happen). Contrary to the hype...SQUATS DON'T WORK (I lost that attribute as well)!!! On the good side...i'm much healthier and now have a normal BMI and have much more energy. So all in all, even though I have had some struggles and dealt with some stomach issues throughout this journey...i'm still happy with the decision I made to go through with it. I want to say thank you, to those of you that have been so supportive and have been following my progression with me[emoji873]️ RNYGB SD: 6/25/2018 HW: 300 LBS. Ulcers ?

Ask your doctor to put you on dexilant. It's way better than protonix. Also see if they can give you carafate, it helps coat. The ulcer so it can heal

Weight flies just as fast as time!

I start each day with a protein shake at around 6am. Then I eat small meals (a protein and some vegetables or a salad) about 4 times a day and have 2 or 3 snacks (usually cold crunchy vegetables). I drink water from the time I wake up until I go to sleep. I walk about 2 miles a day and do light cardio. I really pay attention to package labels now and still haven't eaten

    Meds and bypass

If possible stay away from the steroids. I had taken them and found out they were the cause of me developing a stomach ulcer

  19. A couple of days ago, I posted about the horrible pain I was dealing with. I thought I was having stomach spasms. Well the pain got so bad today along with the vomiting, that I just couldn't even take it anymore. So I decided to take a trip to the emergency room. They did a CT scan and ultrasound, they saw that my gall bladder was distended and that I had an ulcer where my small intestine and new stomach connected. They decided to do an endoscopy and found that I had a 2 inch ulcer and admitted me to the hospital to start immediate treatment. My advice is if you feel like something isn't right within your body, get some medical help as soon as possible...Don't procrastinate
