1. Thank you for posting. The whole process seems daunting when you are at the beginning. It is truly inspirational to read the comments of you and others. It reinforces the fact that all things are still possible.
Starting out is the hardest, because you don't really know what to expect. You have aspirations of what you want to happen, but it doesn't really go that way. It's a day by day learning experience and it gives you a new respect for food, your body and self acceptance. Stay encouraged!!!

2. I got sick with a bad cold last week and started having stomach spasms. At first I thought it was something I ate, disagreeing with my stomach. It kept happening though. There hasn't been much that takes the pain away, except for drinking some hot herbal tea. It's also caused me to vomit more than I would care to. A lot of times it's painful dry heaves though. I go to see the gastroenterologist on the 19th and i'm hoping they can figure things out. Has anyone else experienced this?

3. @AlteredReality thank you for sharing! I have determined to give up the same items and essentially eat the same type foods. Been on my Pre-op plan they gave me for a week and although I still miss occasionally the sweets and heavy carbs, I know they can’t be a part of my life if I’m going to have success in keeping weight off. Some people can re-introduce certain items back in with moderation. I’m not sure I could, so my goal is to avoid. food cannot be my source of entertainment/comfort/reward.
You know yourself better than anyone else. You can do it though...just stick with what you know it's right and best for your overall health

4. Sounds rather straight forward, it's going to be hard for me to give up the red bull but I know I have to!
It's literally about will power and determination. The temptations to eat the food that aren't healthy are hard to fight in the beginning. However, when you set your mind to never become that obese person again it gets easier. You just have to not give up on yourself and remember that there are painful consequences to eating and indulging in the unhealthy foods and beverages.< /p>

5. I'm curious can you tell me more about your diet. Your Vitamins. Your exercise? You lost 115lbs in 7.5 months that's a huge effort? I need to lose 140!!
I take bariatric melts (vitamins and Calcium citrate). Had to start a zinc supplement, because I was a little deficient. My meals always consist of a Protein (seafood, ground turkey, chicken or beans) and vegetables. I don't eat any bread, rice or regular Pasta (I do zucchini noodles) and absolutely no sweets, caffeine or carbonated drinks. Starting out my exercise was just walking about a mile a day. I still walk, but do low impact strength training and will begin jogging soon. I do still have an occasional Protein Shake after I have finished exercising

6. I am in the same boat you are in. I was sleeved 3/26/18 and down 140 lbs. Started around 290lbs, now approx 150lbs (it fluctuates). My gym pointed out the picture I took when I first joined and I couldn’t even recognize myself. I had to take a closer look. I do exercise a lot. Love running now and want to do a half marathon in May. However, I just missed my first period (unrelated to pregnancy) in 22 years. To me it’s sign of too much, too soon. Need to pay a visit to the nutritionist to educate myself on how to properly fuel while training and gyno of course. I really do not pay mind to others opinions of how thin I may look to them. After all, these are people who love me and are used to seeing me obese....I understand their views but I am at a healthy weight/BMI so there is no cause for concern. However, I also need to make sure all is good on my part when my body sends a warning.

Thank you for posting this. Very much needed. Good luck and congrats :)
Thank you and best wishes on continued success along your journey.

7. Tell me more what starting weight and end weight and how long to lose weight?
I'm a tall man and I'm around 317 plan to be 180 but no less than that!
For the longest I thought my highest weight was 297. However after going through my papers from the beginning, turns out my highest was 300. Don't people wouldn't think the 3 pound difference was anything major. For me it meant a lot. The day I had surgery my weight was 246. I had started changing my eating habits close to 4 months before surgery. So by the time I went on the liquid diet, I was down to 273. I had my surgery 6/25/2018 and as of today I am at 158.

8. I have always avoided having my picture taken, knowing that I’m overweight ok obese, and not feeling good about my appearance. What is strange tho is I have never felt fat, I know that doesn’t make a lot of sense but I guess what I’m saying is I remember the slimmer me WELL and that’s what I imagine only with a lot of stuff weighing me down and making me tired all the time. When I started this journey ( Jan 1st) I allowed my daughter to take before pictures of me. I was shocked and at my next month ( feb) after losing 18 lbs I was even more shocked when I got even a better look at the fat on my arms in that months weights loss pics . When did this happen to me???? I look like the marshmallow man in ghostbusters no joke. What a huge wake up call, only I’ve been like this for years and avoiding the camera, I guess not caring to know. I’m now disgusted with myself for letting it get like this.
Needless to say the barbells are out and toning has begun I may not get back to the beautiful arms I use to have but this is unacceptable and has got to go. No longer avoiding the camera, that camera and pics will tell my story of my journey.
I feel like I just woke up[emoji15]
I can totally relate to how you feel. I didn't see myself as big, when I was overweight. It's an eye opener when you realize for yourself, just how much weight you used to carry around. Finally taking the rose colored glasses off and accepting what was and embracing what can be, is the most liberating feeling though. The journey has just begun

9. Thank you I would really like that very much. I've read a few things you've wrote and they have touched me I would love for you to be my buddy and share with me just how you have done this because it's not an easy thing to do.

You're very welcome. I'm glad that my words have had an impact on some way. It's definitely not easy at all. It's a lot of determination. I've had to go through my journey alone with no real support from family or friends. So I know the importance of having someone in your corner rooting for your success. It would have been easier for me to cope with if I had

10. Yes that’s what I’m finding and have been doing. My family enjoys meat and potatoes and the typical pizza and junk fried appetizer type foods that aren’t good for you. I’ve always been a fruit and veggie person and my kids have grown up that way too but now that their older they find it easier to eat that junk food even tho they come home often for me to make them my home cooking good meals. I love to cook and will gladly do it, I love to try new things as well. My husband is the biggest obstacle that and me getting all the Protein 80gr they want me to get a day but I have finally figured that out with the protein drinks. I’m not much of a meat eater except for seafood I love shrimp and salmon so I do eat those often, but I can’t stand the smell of hamburger cooking, I get very nauseous so I stay away from it.
Hopefully your husband will compromise to help you succeed and adjust. Nothing wrong with meat and potatoes though, because you can substitute the potatoes for mashed cauliflower, baked cauliflower or riced cauliflower. I'm not a fan of regular burgers anymore, but I have found a plant based burger that tastes very close to a regular burger. It's by a company called Beyond Meat and it contains no soy and no gluten. I used to have to drink at least one Protein Shake a day, to make sure I was getting in enough protein. Now I get plenty in, due to eating so many times a day.

11. Ah ok I just need to get this concept of slowing down. Making separate meals for my family too always seems to rush me some times and I feel overwhelmed and guessing how I’m ever gonna handle doing it once I end up having the surgery when I’m finding difficulties doing it now.
Just try and find a method that works for you and definitely don't rush through. You can still enjoy meals with your family. You just may have to pre-prep your meals, so that you can all sit down together

12. That’s actually one of the first things they did with me as well, even tho my family dr who I see regularly for other health reasons keeps up on this. My Vitamin D and B 12 and potassium always are super low so I have to take a lot of additional.

Is there a certain time you find you need to take your Vitamins when you are so limited on your intake of food for your pouch?
I’m having a lot of difficulty myself just with the 30/30/30 I’ve alway drank Water with my food and washed everything down. I feel like I’m choking on things without it even tho I chew and chew and chew. This is a huge struggle for me. I’m great with my Water intake I consume 128+ oz a day take in consideration that I’m on a lot of diuretics for Fluid on the brain, that needs removed. Just curious how do you get all your water food and Vitamins in with such a lil pouch time wise? How much water do you consume also?
I take in a little over 120 oz. of water daily, but I drink all day long and throughout the night. My vitamins dissolve in my mouth, so I don't have an issue with having to worry about swallowing them in between meals and feeling too full. I struggled with the triple 30 rule in the beginning, due to the fact that I have dysphagia (trouble swallowing). I just eat in stages now, to help with it. I eat for a couple minutes and then rest for about 5 - 6 minutes in between bites.

13. Hello, first time posting. My friend told me about this site. About how long until the microscopic incisions heal for the strips to come off? They are all dry and ones kind of...wet. Im also a little concerned about putting Water directly on the cuts in the shower. should i be?
I didn't have any strips. My incisions were sealed with a liquid called dermabond. It was almost like liquid bandages and as the wounds healed, it pushed the dermabond out on it's own.

14. Wow! Congrats girlie!!! That's amazing and fantastic success!!! I agree with everything that has been said. The body dysmorphia issue is a big one in my opinion! It took looking at monthly photos to understand the changes in my body. I still see myself as bigger than I am. As Healthy_life said, have someone compare you to people out in public. I'm always amazed when I ask Mr. F. to do that and I see the people he picks!
Keep doing what you're doing. I think you will know when you get to the weight where you need to be. The fat redistributes after about a year. So you won't look like "a bag of bones."
Also, to stop losing, start adding healthy fats into your diet. They take very little extra space, and yet will add calories very quickly. Use full fat items like Greek Yogurt, salad dressings, avocado, butter, olives, olive oil, nuts/seeds/nut butters. It's super easy to get 200-400 extra cals in just from upping fats a little bit! That isn't even huge servings either!
Thank you. I already implement done of those days into my diet, except for yogurt. My pouch no longer like yogurt sadly

15. You're my inspiration. I really hope the RNY does the same for me to really restrict the amount of food and help me to eat very little and the fact the Vitamins will make up for the lack of food is great. I really wish that I could live off not much at all. I think some people eat too soon and don't allow time for their little pouch to settle, I will be doing liquid and purees for as long as I can and smaller meals as not to stretch the stomach.
I heard from other people you also need high dose B12?
ALSO I'm currently a big Water drinker always have been it will be hard to drink in small mouthfuls compared to my current amount.
I believe exercise is important but take it easy in the first few months.
But in the end is very important to eat Protein rich foods not bad food ever again...
I'm 320 my goal is 180.

You're absolutely right about not eating the wrong foods and yes Protein is the main focus. I stayed on my soft and liquid food a little longer than normal, simply because my pouch was rejecting solid food during the last stage of food introduction. I finally leveled out though. I haven't had a need for extra B12, because my levels are at a normal range. I am however lacking in my zinc. So I am taking an extra supplement for that. Everyone's body is different, so just because some people need extra Vitamins doesn't mean you will. It's all about the food choices you make and finding the vitamins that work best for you.

16. Can you explain your daily food and how often you eat. What you eat. What Vitamins you take daily. What exercise you do... I'm very intrigued by you!
I take back bariatric melts(vitamins and Calcium citrate). I eat seafood, ground turkey, vegetables and occasionally beef. I eat most of my food at room temperature or cold, because my stomach doesn't seem to like hot food anymore. I eat about 6 - 7 times a day (very small meals) and I have about 3 Snacks (usually nuts, raw veggies or a Protein bar). I drink fluids from the time I wake up until I go to bed, as well as throughout the night. I am still unable to eat 1/2 cup of food. I can barely take in 1/4 cup. I think my not being able to increase the amount that I can eat, is the biggest contributing factor. I try to eat a little more, but my pouch just won't let me and I end up throwing up all my food if I try to overeat. I don't eat any bread, rice, Pasta or sweets of any kind, no caffeine and no carbonated drinks. I stay away from sugars and I limit the amount of fried foods that I eat
