  1. Sleeved 6/21 HW 304 SW 277 CW 231 lost 46 since surgery, 73 since HW very slow now but at least it’s still going down. No issues with anything I’ve tried eating so far, but I too miss enjoying a big salad (especially from Panera 🙄).
  2. I’ve had a few stalls since surgery 6/21, one lasted 3 weeks. Down 42 so far. Just have patience, it’ll kick in again. Make sure you’re staying at 64 Oz or more on fluids and at least 60g on protein. Can try and raise those more to see if helps or maybe add in some extra carbs for a couple days. But make them healthy ones. Make sure you’re also getting enough calories and aren’t going too low. Good luck!

    Undecided on Surgery

If you’re having any major immediate health issues that would pose a need for WLS, I’d try lifestyle changes first, because this is permanent. I did well on keto during my supervised well loss period pre-op and might have opted to just continue that and see how far I got, but fibrosis of the liver spurred me to do the surgery. You can always start the process with a surgeon and decide for certain as it gets closer. Most drs & insurance require a period of supervised weigh loss first, psych evaluation and nutritionist mtg(s). These might give you the boost you need to do it on your own. And if not, than you’re already working on completing all the requirements.

    Waste Food

I try in restaurants to either order from kids menu, if anything good, or pick something that reheats well so I get 3-4 meals from it. Also, if it comes with something you can’t eat just ask them to leave it off so it doesn’t get wasted. You can also ask for smaller portion of certain things if you don’t want leftovers. Might not be nice enough to charge you less, but at least food won’t get wasted.

    4 months post op--disney??

Surgery 6/21, down 40 lbs so far, absolutely no issues with anything so far. Going to Disney end of this month, at the 3 month mark, and also have the dining plan. I plan to enjoy myself but still try to make certain I get enough protein and exceeed my daily water needs. I’m taking my Genepro protein powder and some sugarfree pudding cups (the non-refrigerated ones), so if I don’t feel like I made my protein for the day it’s easy enough to add 10-30g of protein to a cup of pudding before bed. Since you’re with so many others you won’t be wasting food when you can’t finish more than a small portion of your meal cuz they can help out lol. Especially the free dessert with dinner. Enjoy a bite or two, if your tummy can handle it than share with others. Same with the alcohol. I don’t drink but get a wine with my dinners and my husband can enjoy it after I try a sip or two. I’m at least 50-60 lbs own from last trip there a few years ago and looking forward to not worrying about if I’ll fit ok in the rollercoaster seats. Last time missed out on one of them. Stay safe in the storm right now, Good luck with your surgery and have an awesome vacay!!
  6. Doing well so far. 36 lbs since surgery 6/21. Wish it was higher but can’t be sad over 63 lbs total since last Christmas when I broke 300 on the scale 🙄 looking forward to Disney World the end of this month and not worrying about fitting in any rides. Knock on wood, absolutely no issues so far. No dumping, no foods that haven’t agreed with me. Getting my fluids in fine every day. Blood pressure doing well and hope to be off meds by this Christmas. Wish had enough room to eat a huge salad and still have a serving of protein with it, but patience is the key. Need to start some serious resistance training, build up the muscles under the beginning sagging skin. But the future is bright HW Jan 2018 - 304 SW 6/21 - 277 CW - 241 GW - 150-175
  7. After over a week of constipation by dr recommended take a dose of milk of magnesia (I found the cherry flavor most palatable). If nothing happens within 3 hours take a second dose. I did that and about one hour after second dose spent about 1/2 hr in bathroom melting away. Just be sure to flush every so often lol. He than suggested a daily stool softener, like one Dulcolax a day to stay regular.

    Anyone try bananas? When?

My nutritionist told me no nuts or seeds of any kind until 8 weeks because they could get lodged in little pockets of your still healing stomach where sewn up.
  9. I know we need to wait quite a while before raw fruits. I assume because of how fibrous a lot can be. But has anyone tried bananas? If so, how early and how did they go? I’m anxious to try a couple options I’ve made in the past including pancakes made from bananas and eggs only and I have a Yonanas machine to make heavenly soft serve out of just bananas.
  10. Hey twinsie, 6/21 too. I’ve also lost 20 lbs and been mostly stalled last two weeks. Dealing with constipation right now (only issue at all so far, knock on wood). Taken MiraLAX last 3 days, gonna try Duralax stool softener tonight. If no luck by morning I have my 4 week followup at 9:15 tomorrow. Than we hit the road for 6 day scenic trip to our new home in Alabama. No pain or cramps so far but really hoping for some major #2 before hitting the open road 🙄 HW 304 SW 276 CW 256 GW150
  11. So sometimes I can drink my water just fine. I’ve always loved and preferred water preop. Now every other time or so I’ll take a sip or two and get the reflexive shiver and pucker face like when you drink something disgusting tasting. And I’m so sick of everything else I’ve been drinking, too. Makes it hard to meet that 64 some days. I do, but not happily

    Anyone expedite the phases

I stuck with the first week liquids til day 5, than moved to phase 2 soft/puréed per drs ok. Week two has been pretty much soft foods, but at my two week followup the dr said I was good for any food textures just keep it to the 4 T per meal 🙄 not sure how my nutritionist will like that tomorrow lol. But I’m also not willing to risk tougher or rougher foods yet. Gonna avoid any rough textures and nuts/seeds til at least 6 weeks, when you’re supposedly fully healed.
  13. I’ve hit that dreaded 2 week stall postop my brain thinks I need to find a way to really up my calories but than my old brain thinks if I eat too much I’ll regain. It’s like a game of Russian roulette. What’s the trick that’s gonna work best for me? I’m almost 3 weeks out and am pretty much staying in the 400-500 calorie range. Always hit my 45-60 protein and 64+ Oz fluids. But thinking after my nutritionist visit tomorrow I might try to get in closer to 800 calories and 60-80g protein. Next week we begin a 6 day road trip to move out of state. It’ll drive me nuts not weighing in that whole time but might be best thing for me. GVS 6/21/18 HW 304 SW 276 CW 260 GW 150
  14. Same. Two weeks almost postop and not having hunger pains at all. Log everything so I remember to eat and meet my quota on protein & fluids. Wish I could just get an hour of IVs each morning to fill both needs than just enjoy my day lol. Wouldn’t that be nice? Getting so sick of constantly sipping one drink or another. If I could just chug 16 Oz four times thru day, would be much easier, too.
  15. FYI, I was told not to use straws ever because it puts air in your pouch. For everyone who wasn’t aware too, I discovered yesterday that Starbucks has straw-free lids for their cold drinks 👍
