  1. My surgeon repaired a diaphragmatic hernia and an incisional hernia during my sleeve. I didn't know I had either one. It hasn't made my recovery any different from what I see people going through on here. I would have never known if he hadn't told me.

Omg so funny I have a friend that was once interested in having VSG surgery until she found out that she wouldn’t qualify for it. So now she does the Keto diet and every day all the time she will call me to brag about saying how much weight she’s losing how she so happy with this new diet which is great. I encourage her all the time to stay on track but don’t get me wrong sometimes I’m like shut the f**k up this is all I hear Keto for hours I try changing subject she goes right back .she will not stop talking about Keto drives me crazy and she takes pleasure doing it. Now she talks down about me having surgery.

So glad I'm not the only one being slammed with keto talk! Like I said, it's great for her and I'm happy she's doing it but the conversation is very stale at this point!

  3. I've got one person in my office that has had similar responses. She is also large and is on the Keto diet now. I'm happy for her that she likes doing the keto plan, but she's in her 60s and she has yoyo dieted for years. If it was that simple, we would not have the high obesity rates we have. I just let her blather on. She means well but is misguided in thinking I am interested in another diet plan like keto.

  4. I was told not to eat or drink anything after midnight. Most anesthesiologists or anesthetists won't put a patient under unless they have gone without food or drink for 6-8 hours. It prevents aspiration which can be serious. Good luck with your surgery!

  5. I'm also very glad to have found this forum. Not to sound cliche, but you took a huge step to take care of yourself and get healthy. Statistically speaking, people have a 5% chance of losing weight by dieting and keeping it off. Bariatric surgery is becoming the recommended treatment for obesity. I'm five days post-op and I have struggled with the usual battles of nausea, getting adequate hydration, etc. but I still think I took a brave step and one that will help me in the future. Ignore the social media posts where everyone has lost tons of weight on some great program. People only post the rosiest things about themselves on social media (except here, which I love!). Don't let them be your yardstick.

yep this right here. everything i eat is normal food found on any dinner plate in the country but in a small portion and without the processed carbs of any kind.

If i have learned 1 thing in the last 10 months it is processed carbs will kill me if i let them. It is that simple.

have your "normal" food and enjoy each bite and never think about it again.

The only issue you will have is if you think normal food comes processed and sold in a box from the center of the store. Stick to the 3 walls and you will have a lock on this whole post op eating thing.

This is a great post! I like the idea of sticking to the 3 walls.
