So, I ordered a few clearance dresses for work because I am swimming in everything I own! I ordered an XL dress, and pulled the 18W/18βs out of the closet. The 18βs all fit!! The dresses fit! Feeling a bit adventurous, I went to JCPenney and purchased some work shirts! XL work shirts with room to spare!! This tool is amazing..... but busting my butt in the gym everyday is doing magic on this body composition!!

Wanda247 reacted to rperchard in 5 years out....
here's the thing....you gotta address the disease of obesity....the noise in your head that pollutes your determination to be (& enjoy) good health.
A 50 lb gain suggests you're "off program". It's a symptom of your disease of obesity.
Make appointment for follow-up. Speak w nutritionist in bariatric program. Weekly weigh ins @ the surgeon's office doesn't require an appointment, & makes you accountable. Get to support group.
There's no shame in the struggle. Anyone posting here has been & is, in the same boat.

@FluffyChix
so nicely put, congrats!!
working together during this process is great, watching out for each other. but warning,
no "food police" allowed in/out of house. DH following in your footsteps, wanting to win by
losing, can't get much better than that. getting rid of some meds is always a great motivator.
holding a glass of Water up to your DH - and you too!! Fluffy, you must be a great inspiration
to him, and here too on the board. keep up the good work for both of you.π

Mine was, girl! And is probably still in the obese category if not overweight. BUT. We both started this weight loss journey (for the billionth time), about 18 months+ ago. His blood sugars were crazy at 250+ and he weighed about 60-65lbs more than he does now. We live a low carb life. For him that's all it's really taken (and beginning walking and core exercises) to lose that weight over time without angst. (It took me not only doing that but cutting cals/carbs/fat razor thin and having RNY) to accomplish the same things! He's been able to stop 2 diabetes medications as of yesterday and we're hopeful that within the next 2 weeks he will be able to stop his blood pressure medication.
He's doing so much better!! And I'm so proud of him. We've actually grown together in our efforts to support each other and to implement our healthy lifestyle=new reality, rather than apart. He still wants to lose another 30lbs and I'm fully committed to helping him realize that goal. We want to live a healthy, whole life, free of disease for as many years as possible/shortening the window of morbidity to a very narrow area--later in life.

Wanda247 reacted to jb1809 in I'm day 1 Post Op
First time poster long time lurker.. I want to thank everyone who does post as you provided me with a great deal of information!!
I was just sleeved yesterday and I'm sitting here in the hospital hoping to be released later today.
I am really have alot of nausea issues and acid reflux issues. I have been given medicine for both of those issues with limited success.
I had some soreness accociated with the incision but it wasn't necessary a pain.. except when I first got out of bed to walk!
Hardest part for me last night was dealing with the gas pains in the center of my chest. I seemed to have turned the corner of that hopefully as I am feeling better now.
I haven't tried anything except room temperature Water and trying to sip on a Decaf tea now. My Doctor suggests hot liquid as it forces me to sip slowly and not over do it. I was offered clear chicken broth and Jell-O but couldn't stomach the thought of trying them.
Anyway I'm excited for this new journey and thank you all again for getting somewhat prepared.

Wanda247 reacted to FluffyChix in Atelectasis after surgery?
Holy crap and they still did surgery!?! I'd be in that surgeon's office every day until they told me specifically what I do to get better AFTER they operated on me with an existing collapsed lung! I'd want pulmonary therapy, drugs, whatevs to make sure I didn't get pneumonia!
-
Wanda247 reacted to S@ssen@ch in Atelectasis after surgery?
Atelectasis, or a partial lung collapse is a known complication of general anesthesia. It could happen with ANY surgery and is not specific to bariatric surgery. That's one of the big reasons we have to do that incentive spirometer.
Do your incentive spirometer as directed in your post-op instructions. Make sure you're communicating with your doctor with your symptoms.
