My nutrionist asked me why would I eat popcorn it has no nutritional value for me. It is a food that I should avoid to maintain weight loss success. She suggested that I bring healthier Snacks when I go to the movies. I take nuts, cut up fruit or a costco Protein Bar with my water bottle.

    ***UPDATE***
I had blood work done for the second time since having surgery back in August 29th 2018 and I am soooo ecstatic! I Got me blood work results yesterday from my PCP and My A1C is 6.0. Before surgery it was out of control 9.7, after surgery my endocrinologist took me off all diabetic meds (I was taking 1500 mg of metformin and the highest dosage of Victoza and felt sick every day) three months after surgery A1C went down to 6.7, now 9 months it's 6.0. My main reason for having wls was to get better control of my diabetes. The sleeve is working great for me and I'm so happy that I had it done.

I was taken off metformin and victoza immediately after surgery and my blood sugars are normal. I hardly eat carbs though.

800 of Motrin is a pretty big dose and it definitely is a possibility that you have an ulcer. For how long and how often were you taking the Motrin? Was it one dose of Motrin or several? Did you take Prevacid or another medication to protect your sleeve with it?

The only time you fail is when you stop trying and give up. We're all just imperfect hot messes on a journey. Right? So the first 2 weeks are the toughest as you're aware. You just commit. One day at a time. Choose life. Choose health. Choose joy. Choose happiness. Choose lightness. Choose success. Every day, get up. Look in the mirror and rechoose those things for the day. Don't look back. Morale rarely improves with beatings. But, once you log in a few days of healthy eating and see the scale start to move again, and start to feel more energy, it will feed itself and you will gain momentum.

You can do this! Log and post often. Log weigh and measure your food. Keep a MFP food diary. You can do this!!

    Wanda247 reacted to ms.sss in (ms.sss) 6 Month Post-op Update
I had gastric sleeve surgery on October 24, 2018.
So that makes today my 6 month post op anniversary.
It's been a crazy experience so far, this weight loss surgery thing. I am still amazed sometimes at how much my life has changed for the better.
I started off at 235 lbs on Oct 10, 2018 (start of my 2wk pre-op liquid diet) and am now 138.1 lbs, which means I lost 96.9 lbs (or 41% of my TOTAL body weight) since October 10th. Crazy.
Went from a BMI of 43.2 (morbidly obese) to 25.4 (almost a normal 25!)
    Chest-Waist-Hips measurements (in inches) went from 48 - 431/2 - 491/2 to 35 - 29 - 361/2
Off all prescription meds, no longer pre-diabetic nor do I have a fatty liver anymore. And Mr. is so very happy that I stopped snoring (like a freight train, apparently) the day after surgery.
I feel stronger, more confident, more energized and more.....AWESOME.
Of course there are some downsides:
Alot of my hair has fallen out (but I *think* it has stopped and new teeny hairs seem to be spouting...but this may just be wishful thinking lol) My arms are pretty saggy. Though I am already shopping around for surgeons to get this fixed, hopefully by the fall. I am trying to wean myself off of my PPI and it is proving to be an unpleasant task. I've only been at it for a week and a bit, so I'm still holding out hope that it will turn around soon. I have a love-hate relationship with my toilet as far as pooping goes. But for the record, I would still do this all again in a heartbeat.
I am more than pleased with my progress so far and credit it with the following:
** Disclaimer: the following works for ME, and may not jive with others' way of doing things...**
Tracking and recording EVERYTHING I eat and drink Weighing myself every morning (and track fat, lean body mass percentages) Take my body measurements once a week Try to get 70g of Protein a day (don't always make this) Drink at least 2.5 litres of Water a day Keep net carbs to less than 20g per day Go to bed on an empty stomach Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep at night (don't always make this either) Exercise of some form or another for at least 1 hour every day ...and when I can, get said exercise in before I have my first meal of the day. I had already surpassed my doc's projected goal for me back in January, and I am about 18 lbs from my own personal goal and am pretty excited about it , though I may be more excited about getting rid of these bat wings.

Not for my program. My dr wants me to eat as much real food as possible and only use Protein drinks/bars if I can’t reach goal. By 6 weeks I was cleared for all real food as tolerable.

I am 3 months out and have lost 60lbs. I definitely feel I can eat more, but the sleeve alerts me to when I am done. I exercise everyday and try not to over indulge. This takes work don't kid yourself.

I'm pretty sure by 6 months out (RNY) my pouch held like 6oz of cottage cheese by weight (about a cup by volume) of food.
At 12 months I could hold 9oz of cottage cheese by weight (about 1 1/4 cups by volume) of food.
Now at 14months-ish, I can hold about 1 1/2-2cups of food. But should I? No. I try to measure everything. Volume is KING! Then you weigh stuff into your cup. Ideally you should shoot at 6-12months for 1/2-1cup of food per meal max for life.
I can eat way more veggies and salad than I can in a combined meal.

I asked my surgeon about that a couple of weeks ago and she said it would take quite a bit of overeating over a prolonged period of time to stretch it out

I have real hunger too and it started maybe 4-6 months post op.
    I have noticed that:
foods with higher sugar/carb content make me hungrier for more foods, thinner foods even Proteins will leave me hungrier quicker as well, drinking more makes me less hungry especially hot things, I cycle different varieties of foods in and out of my schedule, I revise and remove things from my diet as often as I need to when they no longer work for me, clean salads are like freebies in that I can eat as much as I want and its still only like 100 safe cals.
Lots of trial and error in a safe space has helped. Don't give up for a moment. 💜

My cheating ways can get me in trouble quickly.
I’m years out. It’s crazy that a few days/weekends in a row of indulging can bring weight gain on fast. Then its painfully sloooooow to come off. I’m maintaining a ten-pound weight gain up and down the scale. This is my cheating life after goal.

Dear BariatricPal, forgive me for I have sinned... I had a bailey's martini today because I just felt I needed it as I have been so stressed lately with calls from my daughter's school about her behaivour (she has autism). It tasted good and it helped. So there. Not sorry.
