  1. This place can be positive or negative depending on your outlook. I've noticed that when I remain active here by following the struggles or joys of others and, most important, leaving a comment, I'm helping myself probably more than the person for whom I'm leaving a comment. It takes courage initially to post your first question or topic. What if no one responds? What if I make a fool of myself because I put words together like a monkey with a keyboard?

I forgot what my intended message was here. I guess it's something like the penny jar one finds in a store. Take a penny for yourself when you need it, leave a penny for someone else in case they need it.

Thank you to all the kind people out there who've left a penny for me. Here's my penny for someone else. Please take it if you need it. (This penny is a metaphor, ;) ).

Ain't it the truth! I've been busy elsewhere for 3 weeks and missing my group. Had to get back to "da ranch" and check in. Down 50 pounds, and at a plateau for 2 weeks. I didn't start this with a goal in mind, just wanted to see where I could go with this. But now I suspect I'm afraid of losing another 50#. I suspect I'm afraid I won't know myself anymore. Right now I don't look that different in the mirror, but I need to feel I am ME when I look in the mirror and another 50# gone will create a very different image. Has anyone gone through emotions like this? Any tips?

  2. Three and half weeks out.  I have lost 34 lbs and I have currently hit my first plateau.  I was advised I am eating to little food and currently light headed.  I have no hunger pains.

I see my surgeon on the 11 of august for my two month appointment.  I am fortune enough to have Bariatric counseling three days a week and PT twice a week. I am finding this really helps

That's really rapid weight loss, Joe!

I'm curious, is the 3x week counseling and 2x a week PT part of your program's standard plan, or something you decided on for yourself? My program has optional personal trainer sessions you can buy, and counseling sessions you can purchase as you wish to make appts for. You can also buy extra sessions with the NUT. The one "freebie" we have is the monthly support group sessions.

  3. !0 days to go. Seems surreal after waiting so long. I did a little grocery shopping for after surgery. I'll get more next weekend. I ended up losing 40 lbs on my preop diet. i feel ready. I hope next week flies by.

Hi Kasey! So here you are, after all the struggles and waiting, and it's YOUR TURN! I am happy and excited for you, and trust all will go as smoothly as mine. It does have a surreal quality to it -- you're in hospital gown, getting prepped, you know it's happening but keep double checking yourself -- Am I dreaming this? And they relax you into lalaland and you wake up sleeved! Wow. Just WOW. Yes, the remaining days will fly by. You did amazingly well on the pre-op. Woot!
