Trust me when I tell you the initial discomfort will pass. The first Month Post op, I was beyond miserable but now I have more energy than I did when I was 18 Years old. -

I feel scared and ashamed...
Jdesmond73 replied to sariejack's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was nervous as well but honestly I was more afraid of what my Years of obesity was doing to my health. I was on blood pressure meds for 10 Years, was pre diabeti, had sleep apnea, back issues, etc. There was no doubt in my mind that my weight was going to kill me at some point. At the encouragement of my Wife, Kids and Parents, I reluctantly went through with the VSG and it was the best decision I have ever made for myself. ALL of my health issues have been reversed and I feel like a new person. I am no longer ashamed of “letting myself go” regarding weight for all those Years. The past is done and I am now living in the moment and am excited about the future. I understand what you are going through but my advice would be to try and focus on the light at the end of the tunnel. Best of luck! -

Best of luck to you! I know exactly where you are....I am 44, battled my weight for Years, BP meds for 10 Years, pre diabetic, sleep apnea, etc. Just 7 Months out, I am off BP meds, no longer pre diabetic and no longer have sleep apnea. Easily the best decision I have ever made for my health. I hope everything goes well for you -
December2017 Sleevers Check In!
Jdesmond73 replied to Jade5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Very close to my goal at this point but I am feeling very comfortable with my current diet and exercise plan so I am going to stick with it and my body will decide for itself when the weight loss will stop. -
I may be oversimplifying things but if people have an issue, I don’t waste my time on them anymore. I did this for my health and it is the best decision for my health that I have ever made. I am no longer on blood pressure medication, no longer pre diabetic and no longer have sleep apnea. I have more energy for my Wife and Children and our home life is much better because of my surgery. If people have an issue with that, I don’t want anything to do with them. Interestingly, the people who have openly voiced their disapproval are overweight themselves. I know it’s hard to deal with the negatIvity but do what’s right for you and trust that it will all work out. Best of luck!

Congrats! Feeling better has been the best reward but now that it’s getting harder to lose, I’ll probably start to reward myself with something, Maybe nice clothes?

How are you treated by your mate!!!
Jdesmond73 replied to holly7744's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hope your guy comes around and am sorry to hear that he has not been supportive. I am blessed to have an amazingly supportive Wife. She encouraged me to have the surgery about a Year before I finally pulled the trigger and has been amazing throughout the whole process -

Great job! -
Total loser. Drop that fool. You made a Life changing decision that was the best thing you could do for your health. If people can't see that, they are not worth your time. I am lucky that my Wife, kids and close friends have been so supportive. Those that have been judgemental or negative have been dropped from my Life. Best of luck to you!

Anyone not need plastic surgery?
Jdesmond73 replied to TexasMommy80's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Not sure why but I am lucky that I have very little loose skin -
Never again. I have accepted the fact that I just can't eat fried food. Fired food, pizza, pasta, beer, etc., brought me the point of being dangerously obese in the first place. Not going back there!

Was at my Doc last week and was told that they would like to see me get to 230 lbs and maintain. I realize that 230 is a large number but I’m 6’5” and a former Football player and I’ll always be a big guy. I am just north of 250 now. If I can get under 250 and stay under that number for the rest of my Life, I’ll be happy.

Sleeved on 12/18. Feeling awesome!!!!! -
Pre op liquid diet was the worst part about of the whole thing for me. Stay focused, stick to the plan and keep you eye on the goal. You got this! Best of luck

I am 6’5”. Starting weight was 370, 341 at surgery. 261 today. My goal weight is 230

Need some support from people who have had the sleeve
Jdesmond73 replied to TreeMystic's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just take it one day at a time. For me, the 2 week pre-op liquid diet was the hardest. I was miserable. After a couple of rough post-op days, it honestly has been a breeze for me. Listen to you Doctor and Nutritionists, stick to the plan and all will be well. Best of luck! -
Might be cancelling Surgery. Given the choice would you do it again?
Jdesmond73 replied to Chickensoup's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Would do it again in a heartbeat. Best decision I have ever made for my health
