I would go with what your personal surgeon says, not what you've read, or someone else's surgeon. Yours knows you best. Good luck whatever you choose.

Briswife15 got a reaction from Jheda88 in Pregnancy after mini gastric bypass
I haven't experienced it, but my surgeon says to wait 18 months before conceiving. Best of luck to you. I love Kenya. Been there twice!

Briswife15 got a reaction from Matt Z in Barium swallow
Yeah, it wasn't horrible. The hardest part for me was the fizzy "pop rocks" I had to swallow to expand my esophagus first!!

A lot depends on your insurance requirements and if you are self pay.

Briswife15 got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Getting started
Many insurance companies list their bariatric surgery policies on the internet or you can call and have them send it to you. I have Anthem BCBS and they require 6 months of continuous nutrition counseling prior to approval. My surgeon says the whole process from start to surgery for me would be approximately 8 months, but your time could vary.

Are you using the app on a phone? Go to the three white bars in upper left corner, tap on that and you should see a choice for signature.

Briswife15 got a reaction from Orchids&Dragons in Vitamins
I'm not a doctor and I don't play one on TV, so I'd ask your team. From what I've heard large doses of Vitamin C, like 1000 mg, can thin the blood, and that wouldn't be a good thing before surgery. Good luck Friday!!

Briswife15 got a reaction from Frustr8 in I’m not sure what surgery to do?
I have the same question and am glad you posted this. My issue is that I have reflux and diabetes, so on that hand bypass looks like the choice, but... I take antidepressants which might not absorb well after bypass, making the sleeve look like a better choice. So, surgeon says my case is complicated. We've tentatively settled on the bypass. But I'm just starting this journey and things could change. I am about 120 lbs over my ideal weight with a BMI 43.

Briswife15 got a reaction from ProudGrammy in NSAIDs
Thanks for the replies. My surgeon says No NSAIDS ever again regardless of which type of surgery I have. Guess I'm just wondering what else I can take for pain, but it will probably have to be tylenol.

Yes, I have definitely thought about that for pain, and will discuss with my PCP after surgery . Thanks for mentioning it!
