    Hair loss after surgery

My PCP recommended biotin, but it can cause acne, so watch for that. My dermatologist has me using generic Rogain from CVS for hair loss. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. After reading just how difficult the liquid pre op diet is, I don't think I could function at work on so little food and calories! Thinking of taking that week off from work (my surgeon does not require 2 weeks). Anyone start their medical leave early and stay home from work during pre op diet? Or am I just a wimp? Thanks for your reply! I just can't imagine working while feeling weak and hungry...but not being able to cheat is a good reason to be at work! Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    NSAIDs

Anyone dependent on NSAIDs for pain before surgery? What did you do for pain after your surgery? I don't mean right after, but like a few months later? I have arthritis along with back problems and take a prescription NSAID. The thought of having to give it up and live with pain scares me. Tylenol doesn't do much for me. 15. I haven't experienced it, but my surgeon says to wait 18 months before conceiving. Best of luck to you. I love Kenya. Been there twice! Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. I haven't had surgery yet, but am wondering how you manage to get all your water in if you can't drink for 30 minutes before you eat and 30 minutes after you eat? If you have 6 small meals a day that's 6 hours you're not drinking! If you can only take small sips when you do drink, how do you stay hydrated? Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. Thanks for the repies-they are very helpful! RickM your explanation of water intake makes good sense. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Barium swallow

Yeah, it wasn't horrible. The hardest part for me was the fizzy "pop rocks" I had to swallow to expand my esophagus first!! Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. I just finished reading the Emotional First Aid Kit on my Kindle, and thought it was extremely helpful for my weight loss surgery journey. I have done quite a bit of research and have met with the surgeon to select RNY. I'm wondering if you helpful folks can recommend any other books I should read to help me be on the path to success. Thanks! Sarah Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Getting started

Many insurance companies list their bariatric surgery policies on the internet or you can call and have them send it to you. I have Anthem BCBS and they require 6 months of continuous nutrition counseling prior to approval. My surgeon says the whole process from start to surgery for me would be approximately 8 months, but your time could vary.

    Getting started

A lot depends on your insurance requirements and if you are self pay. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Started process

Hi, there! I'm just at the same stage as you, but my insurance requires 6 months of continuous nutrition counseling so my time frame will be a little longer. It is exciting ! Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

Are you using the app on a phone? Go to the three white bars in upper left corner, tap on that and you should see a choice for signature. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Vitamins

I'm not a doctor and I don't play one on TV, so I'd ask your team. From what I've heard large doses of vitamin C, like 1000 mg, can thin the blood, and that wouldn't be a good thing before surgery. Good luck Friday!! Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
