Hi, and welcome!! The wait is long, but worth it! From my initial educational seminar to surgery date was 10 months. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Great! Thank you. I've got a few more weeks to go before I'm there, but will try to increase calories now. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. Hi, GradyCat, and others. You mentioned in reply to another post that I should be consuming 600-800 calories a day. My nut didn't give me a guideline, but I am 4 weeks out this Wednesday. Still on shakes and puree. Does that calorie recommendation still hold? Thanks Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. No, I generally eat 420-520 a day, and was suggested to eat 600-800. That seems high for 4 weeks post Gb. Just asking! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Crystal Light Rustrations

My grocery store sells Crystal Light with both caffeine and non caffeine. Both the liquid and powdered forms, just have to read the labels carefully. Try Amazon, maybe? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Immediate Weight Loss

Normal. I gained almost 10 pounds of fluid while in the hospital!! It took me about 6 days to lose it and get back to my surgery weight. Hang in there!! Congrats on your surgery! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Baking Protein Powder

I think the heat denatures the protein. I've heard you shouldn't heat protein powders over 140 degrees. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. I took off 4 weeks. I think it was the perfect amount of time for me personally, but I am aware some people go back after 1-2 weeks. I used the time to get used to sipping fluids throughout the day, exercising, napping, and getting my protein. Prior to surgery I wasn't sure how my body would deal with the massive decrease in calories. I probably could have gone back after 3 weeks. Totally a personal decision. 12. I had pain like that when I drank Crystal Light lemonade. I think it was too acidic for my new pouch. Im 3.5 weeks out and still don't feel any hunger. Hope your pain goes away. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Yes! I have been eating about 420 calories a day and not losing. When I upped it to 600 calories I dropped a pound in one day. I think my body was clinging on to every ounce and I was in "starvation mode. " Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

If you call them they will tell you their requirements for surgery. Good luck! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. I'm just wondering how we prep for colonoscopies and drink those 4 quarts of disgusting liquid if we only have little pouches that don't hold that much liquid? Is prep different after bypass? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. Thank you, RickM! I'm not actually having one now, but was curious about the future. Appreciate your post. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. I'd wait, but that's just me. I'm progressing slowly. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. Oh! That makes sense. I mistakenly thought we'd have to sip, sip, sip the prep liquid!! Thanks! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Dilemma on to do or not to do

If you already have GERD, then I'd say, no, do not have the sleeve, as there is a potential to make GERD worse with the sleve. Bypass can cure GERD, but I do not think you are a candidate for bypass either, with so little to lose. Maybe try a medically supervised diet and therapy...? 20. I'm a week post surgery, and of course am only taking in fluids, so I'm not sure how soon I should expect to have a BM. I don't feel constipated, but wonder... also, if taking in only protein shakes, should I expect diarrhea? Thanks for your advice on this subject!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Anyone had full bypass surgery??

Try searching for "revision". lots of folks on here first had the sleeve, and had revisions to bypass. Usually for severe GERD. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. I recently had RNY gastric bypass done by Dr. Darren Tishler at Hartfird Hospital, which is a bariatric center of excellence. From the initial educational seminar last May, through the nutritional visits, pre requisites, and insurance coordination, Dr. Tishler and all his staff were fantastic. For the surgery, he gave me a cocktail of meds including one for nerve pain, and another for nausea, which the nurses in the hospital said made my experience easier. While in the hospital he visited me every day (I was there 2 nights). I was on round the clock anti nausea meds, as well as pain meds, which kept me comfortable. Their printed guidelines and diet, constipation, and exercise guidelines are excellent and keep me on track, and never wondering what to eat or do next. Dr. Tishler is extremely experienced and skilled. I can't recommend Dr. Tishler and his staff more highly!!! (I'm 23 days post surgery) Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  24. Thanks for all the replies! I'm going to wait a few weeks, and then try either scrambled or soft boiled, if at all!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  25. Ugh. First time this has happened. I mashed up a hard boiled egg with a bit of light mayo, slowly took about 3 bites and felt like I had eaten a whole pizza! Stopped eating, of course, but it has been 1.5 hours and I still feel yucky. Does this mean I can't tolerate eggs? How long before this gross feeling goes away? (I'm 23 days post op, and still in the puree stage.) Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
