  1. That’s good advice from Frustr8! Could you manage some warm broth or stock? I loved the slightly salty flavour, unlike the shakes at first, and they slide down easily. Are you feeling any better? Keep pushing for the pain meds to be on time, every time - my ‘worst bits’ were where I had a gap between doses xxx
  2. Hey miss smiles, hang in there! You will feel better in a day or so! I’m getting the liquids down so far - 40 oz of water today plus my vitamins. I mixed my protein shake with water and coffee this am to get 20 oz. took me 2 hours to drink it! My guts sound like thunder, but the gas is certainly finding it’s way out 😜. Honestly, keep trucking on, every 6 hours or so from where you are I felt better! Xxx
  3. Hey Miss Smiles, yes, i’d Like a recovery buddy! It’s 2am here in the uk and I can’T sleep. Can’t believe I am on the other side - the start of a whole new life for me. and also .... I feel like I don’t have a clue what I am doing! How will I drink 60 oz of water when it takes me 2 hours to drink a glass full! 😜 Hope your recovery continues to go well!
  4. hey Azmassage, sorry to hear about your pain. Mine has also been unexpectedly sore - they are pretty stingy with the morphine here! I’m also on oxygen- I think because of the discomfort I am not taking proper breaths. I do hope the next 24 hours give you an easier ride XX
  5. Oooh you lucky thing Kimbero! Here they inflate both your abdomen and your digestive system for the surgery and it feels nasty! Glad yours went well!
  6. Hey guys, well I’m on the losers bench! RnY at 10.30am today, was up and about at 2pm. Not gonna lie, the gas pain is uncomfortable but just about tolerable. Hard to get liquids down as I am nervous of my new digestive system! Good luck to all you guys!
  7. That's right, I'm in Cornwall. In Cornish, Karenza means love
  8. Wow, 2 days to go here toll mu bypass. I am mighty hungry though. Stuck totally to the milk diet though, looking forward to not feeling hungry afterwards!
  9. Hey everyone, How are you all doing? I'm on day 10 of the pre-op diet - for the past 3 days I have felt very tired! I work full time, long hours, and I am finding it hard to concentrate at work. Just feeling exhausted all the time. Anyone else the same? I'm wondering if I might actually be a bit ill, or if this is just a side effect of the diet.
  10. The time is dragging- I am trying to keep busy. Weight is going down steadily on this milk diet though! If I could keep it up for 6 months maybe I wouldn’t need the surgery!😉
  11. It's a week today!! The time seems to be going pretty slowly though
  12. Ahhhhh, sorry, have re-read the thread now! Are you going to a different surgeon this time?
  13. So you already have the sleeve? Are you having a revision to the bypass? Can I ask why <<nosy!>>
  14. THe coffee sounds yummmmmmmy! I'm only allowed 3-4 pints of semi-skimmed milk, one cup of clear broth, and a sugar free jelly (which I don't like!). Looking forward to making my coffee with a vanilla protein shake after the surgery though. I've found a really yummy sugar free syrup that I put a tiny bit into my milk and coffee and it really is delicious. Hard again today, but I am only 9 days away from my surgery now. I'm drinking my stock, then off out to mow the lawn for some exercise. Hope you've all had a good day!
  15. Yep, it isn't easy! This evening has been the hardest so far. I've been really hungry!
  16. Hey Frustr8, I am in the UK! Having my surgery in Cornwall. My family are having pizza for tea - I have withdrawn to the bedroom to escape the delicious smell! BUT - I have survived the weekend with no slip-ups - Yay! Another week at work and then it is operation time. WHen's your surgery?
  17. Hay PCOSSUCKS, I'm sure a little popcorn as a one-off will not affect your surgery - the thing is I guess to make sure that is all it is and that there's no more slip-ups! I find it really motivating to watch Youtubers who have lost all the weight they wanted to and how amazing they lok and feel. I also have a list of things to do instead of eating as my go-to when the cravings strike. My house has never been cleaner! HOpe you are able to take some 'me time' today. Be kind to yourself - this ain't easy!
  18. HI everyone, Just wondering how you are all getting on with the pre-op diet. It's the morning of day 6 for me, I've been surprised how well I am feeling! It's a really interesting insight for me about the times I 'want' or 'expect' to eat - when over this weekend I have been tempted (but resisted!). I use the kids as an excuse - and buy them things that are a big temptation - I think I pretend I am buying things for the children because I want them myself - I am going to be very careful I don't become a 'feeder'. My kids are all skinny and healthy but I want to keep them in healthy habits! ALso the afternoons at the weekends - every time I walked through the kitchen my brain told me to eat. Standing by the toaster, near the fridge, near the larder - my brain is screaming to me to get in there and snack! SO, I've lost 8 lbs in 5 days of the pre op diet so far. No problems with constipation. Yesterday I cleared my wardrobe - got rid of the things in my current size that I won't wear in the next couple of months, put all the size down (and 2 sizes down) clothes in big bags under the bed to pull out when I need them, and tidied up. Feels great. HOpe you guys are all doing well too I am pretty darn excited! 10 days till my op!
  19. Ah, don't worry, I have been a care assistant myself so I am always nice to the lovely people who are looking after me, no matter how grotty I feel!
  20. HI all, great to 'meet' you I was previously Hubble's Mum - changed my name because I realised I was a bit identifiable - my dog is called Hubble - named after the telescope because she helps to give me a sense of perspective! My pre-op diet is 14 days of 4 pints of milk a day. I can have stock (1 cup a day) and one sugar free jelly per day (but I hate those, so not having them). Nearly finished day 4, 6lbs down this morning. It's Friday evening here, normally a night when I have a glass or two of wine to celebrate the end of the week but not today! Not sure about what to pack for the hospital either! loose clothes I think, a book to read, my iPhone with a talking book on it. Can't wait for my new life. SO excited. DO you think I will be ok to fly for a work trip 5 weeks post-op?
  21. Hi everyone, I'm having gastric bypass on 30th May - my 43rd birthday! I'm hugely excited and terrified in almost equal measure. Been on the milk only diet - just finished day three. Think I am about 5 lbs down so far.
