June 4th , 2018 I am getting sleeved in Tijuana Mexico by Dr. Ponce! I hope I can eventually stop most of my prescription drugs which have side effects.

My surgery is over. Even had hiatal hernia repaired while in surgery. No pain, no vomiting or dry heaves! First week was hardest with Clear Liquids only. Second week so much better with yogurt & Protein Drinks for strength. Dr. Ponce was awesome even though he doesn’t speak English! I’m looking forward to eating solids in the future!

Yes that is a steal, I’m not going to tell my mom, the biggest problem she has had with this is me going to MX. She kept asking me why I couldn’t just do it here. I told her it would be 2 to 3 times the cost. That’s amazing I’m glad you found something that works for you and makes you feel comfortable at the same time!

Have had my sleeve nearly six months. Have never regretted it. Not even one day. Not even one moment.
I went into this process expecting to lose one side or the other of 60% of my excess weight in 18 months....because that is the average result of the surgery. I knew it would be hard. Mentally and physically. I knew I'd have moments, and I knew I was taking a certain amount of risk. I was extremely lucky and had a very easy surgery. I've also been lucky to have a very knowledgeable, ethical medical team.
Losing 60 pounds...would have been good enough. It would have been a significant improvement to my health and I was absolutely grateful for that much help.
At just six months out, I've lost about 88% of my excess weight, and am still losing.
I am off my blood pressure meds, my diuretic, my antidepressent. My blood sugar is normal. My cholesterol is terrific. My nutrition bloodwork is great so far, no malabsorption issues. My arthritis feels better. My energy is off the chart. I feel amazing.
I also have to credit The mayo Clinic Diet... my forever diet.
And a terrific team of people at my clinic, and my at-home support people...most especially my hubby, my bestie and my daughter.
No regrets:)

If it's Ortiz through OCC, then it's not the same surgeon. They just have similar names.

my FAT clothes are residing in a large tote in the garage. I still can't seem to reach the point of letting them go.
The deep dark place in the back of your mind you try never to go to will not accept that i will not need those size 48 jeans or those 3x shirts in 6 months. So yea i kinda know that feeling. Its been 20 years since i weighed this amount so it might take me a few months to believe.

This is EXACTLY the way I feel... Like I shouldn't be there. But it's not a matter of if, but when. Sure, I can wait and just continue to have more health issues (I now have GERD, high BP, prediabetes, and obstructive sleep apnea) and get bigger (which will happen) or take control of my health now.

I'm just depressed and frustrated. None of my doctors seem to want to listen to me. I got gastric bypass covered on my dad's insurance before but I didn't get far. Only for him to cut me off the insurance and NEVER let me back on because he's a jerk. If he just let me stay on his for a little bit longer I would have had the gastric bypass and I would now be a lot thinner and happier now. Everytime I bring up gastric bypass to my doctor they say "no, you just don't need it" and never give me a clear picture as of why I do not need it. I always try to dig and ask why they say this. I know I don't have diabetes, high blood pressure nor high cholesterol anymore but I do have polycystic cyst ovarian syndrome and for me it's very hard to lose weight because my hormones and metabolism are very off. I am WAY over the bmi of 40 and 5'4, I've lost weight recently but I notice I'm not losing enough. I'm in constant pain everyday due to an old foot injury, my feet are always hurting and I could barely walk. I cannot walk that far and my feet swell up like balloons and my weight is not helping my situation. I had foot surgery back in 2011 and it gets hard to walk and exercise most of the time. I wish they had a solution because I'm not losing enough weight with diet and exercise alone. I noticed I'm not that successful at losing weight because of PCOS. I think gastric bypass would reprogram my body, metabolism and hormones to a good level but NONE of my doctors want to hear it. My old surgeon Dr. Shadle has been trying to find solutions for me since my insurance got cut and now I'm just on Blue Cross Medi-Cal. I need help and I feel at wits end with this. I feel like my doctors are neglectful and just don't care about me. If they did they would help me. My foot doctor already said they cannot fix the foot and take the screws and plates out until I lose more weight, so I feel stuck between a rock in a hard place. I know gastric bypass is not a quick fix and I still need to diet and exercise. I know everything I'm supposed to do, I just feel like NOBODY will give me a chance.

Hi I’m 69 and was sleeved April 12th with hiatal and umbilical hernia repairs. On clear liquid diet and have lost 6 lbs so far. I have dieted for years with temporary success. My diabetes was not under control despite taking 3 different pills and an injection. My health was getting worse and I wanted to be able to keep up with my 5 little grandchildren.
I was terrified but the surgery was really easy. The pain was like a dull ache and they keep you medicated so you’re really ok. I was walking laps in the ward the same day and released the next. You can do this!
