    Post Op BM

My surgery was on the 3rd, the last time I had a BM was the day before, so far my body has not acted like it needs to go, I haven't had any urges to use the restroom, This would be day 5 with no BM and I do realize I'm on water and protein only so there's not a lot there to go off of, I haven't taken any pain medication either primarily to avoid constipation. I have been drinking a couple of packets of fibrosol each day since the 5th, just to make sure my first BM wasn't a nightmare. I just wanted to see what thoughts you all had on this and what your experience was post op with your first BM. Thanks a lot.

    Getting sleeved on 5/03/18

It's going ok, I haven't taken any of the pain medication, I'm sure that would have helped but pain hasn't been that bad really. Once in a while I get a throbbing from my stomach that lasts about 5 - 10 seconds and it hurts pretty good at that point but doesn't last long. Sorry if this is TMI but I have not had a bowel movement yet, probably not totally uncommon seeing as how I only drink protein and water right now, this is also one of the reasons I didn't take pain meds because I'm trying to avoid any constipation. I have to take the shots in my stomach for 8 more days but they aren't that bad, small needles. So far so good just been sore and was pretty tired the first day out.
  7. I'm getting sleeved on the 3rd of May and on the 2 week pre op diet, so far so good but I've had a couple of moments where I just want to go get a chili dog or a cheeseburger including right now, for some reason I'm craving a chili dog really badly right now and so far I've fought the urge to do it and will continue to do so. I have these thoughts running through my head asking myself if I'm making the right decision? Am I going to miss eating a good chili dog or cheeseburger afterwards? I did research on and off the last couple of years on this surgery I'm not just plunging in without any knowledge but I'm still asking myself if I'm making a mistake. I assume this is normal and I've even read other people think the same way but hearing from people on here might make me feel better about it? I know most people don't have any issues but I have read a few horror stories about people vomiting constantly, diarrhea, having to go in and get IVs or feeding tubes, that doesn't sound healthy or ideal, it's a bit scary to think about. I am 35 years old and currently I'm at 287 5'10, I'm losing around 1.2 lbs per day from the pre op diet but still pretty hungry most of the time and really cranky/don't want to be around anyone or any food etc right now. I have a lot of muscle mass on my frame it's just covered in fat but I used to do quite a lot of power/weight lifting which is why I have a lot of muscle mass. I'm ready to get it done and move on so I can be healthier and get back to lifting and just generally living a more active healthier lifestyle. I guess I'm just introducing myself and maybe asking for some words of encouragement as I'm coming down to the last days of my pre op diet and so forth. Thanks everyone.

    Dining with Friends

Tell them the truth, you are trying to lose weight and eat less food, this is completely true with or without the surgery.

Around Stuart, Florida, what about you? I was able to drink a protein shake with no problem, sipping on water now. My stomach does hurt but that's to be expected after the surgery I'm guessing, it kind of feels like I was punched in the gut haha

    Getting sleeved on 5/03/18

I'm in Florida, I went in yesterday morning and was out this morning, the nurse was telling me she thinks it's the fastest turn around she's ever seen and I walked more than anyone else she's ever seen too. I'm at home now, just woke up after dozing off on the couch, going to attempt a protein shake in a minute.

    Getting sleeved on 5/03/18

I can't believe mine is only a few days away, I'm not really excited or too nervous just kind of content and just want to get it over with if that makes any sense, I think the pre op diet has put me into a kind of permanent content at times/pissy at times mood haha.

    regretting my sleeve

I have not had surgery as of yet but based on what I have read in these forums it's not completely unnatural to regret or feel bad at this point, you are still only on post op liquids if it's anything like what mine is. You eventually will be able to eat solid foods again and whatever you want just less of it. For me I am told the first 2 weeks I have protein shakes only and broth etc, then I go to pureed food for 2 weeks, after that I can start introducing solid foods. Things will get better for you just make sure to stick with the diet you are supposed to be on right now because your stomach is healing and imagine all the weight you will lose and how much better you will look and feel in the future. Hang in there!
