  1. Make your protein and water intake your top priority until you can get into therapy. Did you talk about food addiction at your psych evaluation? What did he/she say?
  2. Check your current nutrition plan as everyone has different requirements
  3. You’ll have to call your insurance company and find out what they cover and what they don’t. That’s your responsibility.
  4. Can you ask your team if they can prescribe something for your surgery day? Something that’ll calm your nerves?
  5. You’re still healing. You had major surgery. Give your body a break
  6. My husband and mom are the only two that know ??‍♀️ I wasn’t interested in sharing my business with anyone else
  7. Maybe because this is not your first WLS, they want to make sure you are prepared? I’d call and ask though. Seems strange for insurance to have no requirements, but the office to have 6 months
  8. Maybe you haven’t dealt with whatever the event was. It might come up again in your psych consult. Consider therapy before the process, just to ensure you’ve faced all your skeletons
  9. Liquids won’t stretch it out
  10. People didn’t start saying anything to me until I had lost about 80 lbs (started at 288). Even then, sometimes they weren’t sure what was different about me
  11. Just keep a water bottle in your desk and sip. Does your school have rules about that? Most teachers in my building have a water bottle, regardless of WLS
  12. My husband picked me up, but no one checked on that. When I was discharged and they asked me who was picking me up, but I just packed my bags and left. You could def just call a cab or Uber
  13. My program was weird and I didn’t meet the surgeon until the end of my 3 months. He was not warm and fuzzy but I honestly didn’t care, he was a good surgeon and that’s what I needed him for
  14. I was home for the summer with my kids, but I’d say I napped everyday for the first 2 weeks ?
  15. Tuna pouches are a great way to get your protein and they have bunch of different flavors
  16. The pain is temporary and short lived! Just think about that new lease on life
  17. Slow jogging? I didn’t know what I was doing had a name ??‍♀️ oh well, slow jogging is better then no jogging
  18. He and my nutritionist encouraged lifestyle changes, not weight loss Per se. Obviously with the changes came weight loss, but that wasn’t the main goal
  19. Bypass all the way! I see way too many revisions from sleeve to bypass on this board. I decided on bypass and never looked back
  20. I’m sorry you have no support. But this is your journey, not hers. Do right by you and let her do her thing. You can def care for yourself a few days post op, do your walking, set timers for your liquids, etc. you got this!
  21. Tell them your going to take care of some personal things and need to be out for _____
  22. May 1st Starting weight 170 Status-post op Personal goal-lose 10 lbs I’m twenty pounds and about 10 weeks from my one year surgi-versary
  23. I remember going back for my one week post op and being shocked at how much better I felt. You won’t feel like a million bucks, but soooo much better then you do today
  24. Maybe eat a planned amount rather then just eating until you are full. It took me a while to get the hang of feeling full so I just pre-measured my food and that’s what I ate.
