    Very tough week

If it helps, you were one of the first people on here I had read in the forum on supporting people with questions. I can see how it can get extremely annoying when people don't search a question before asking. I thank you and many others for your continued support. Hope your week and your sleep is getting somewhat better!
  2. @courtb86 I would try to chew on ginger. Yes, raw ginger. Just peel the skin and chew or suck on it, put it in decaf hot tea. It's spicy but it's natural and tends to rid nausea almost instantly. Did for me in my first trimester. I wouldn't drink any carbonated bevs as this point just because it isn't a good idea for a bariatric patient. Good luck to you and your baby.
  3. So I had a Pure Protein birthday cake bar for my p.m. snack and it was anything but. yuck. I think the only bar I like is their chocolate salted caramel. Disappointing.

I am drinking the Syntrax Nectar Pink Grapefruit. On a scale of 1 to 5, I'm giving it a 3 to 4 for taste. I think that leaves me with only one shake left and that is the green apple I believe. I will have to decide what I want to order for my final decision. So many flavors though...

  4. Tired the Syntrax Nectar Lemonade. Meh. It was okay but the foam/froth at the top kind of turned me off but I drank some of it.

My husband, who will also be having VSG surgery next year, has been going to his nutrition classes so he wasn't home for dinner so i didn't have to worry about what to make him. I made Kraft mac and cheese for my son and well, I took about 5 big tablespoon out of the bowl as he ate his.:blush::blush: Yes, I confess, I was doing so well! I didn't beat myself up though. I just know now, I can't be doing that anymore! I did add it to my Bariastic app. as I am tracking everything I eat and drink. Needless to say, those 5 tablespoon took 125 calories that quick!! I thought to myself, was it really worth it?! When I was in the moment, yeah, it was but I then why am I here in the first place?

After I put my son to bed, I drank the rest of the lemonade. I give it about a 3. I had blended with just water and ice cubes. I'm thinking if ice was in my glass without blending, it probably would have tasted better. Trial by error, I suppose.

This morning, I had the Syntrax Nectar Twisted Cherry. I blended at work with a banana. I give this one a 3. Kind of reminded me of children's cough syrup. I mean it wasn't horrible but I liked some of the flavors better. I already had a protein bar around 10am but it's already 11:07a.m. and I don't have lunch for another hour.

I was going to have my meal for dinner but I think I may just have it for lunch instead. I'm thinking a nice salad with some hard boiled egg for protein. Probably run to my local grocery store and get one from the salad bar they have! Just taking it one day at a time!

    July surgery

I'm scheduled for July 25th. Right around the corner. Excited and nervous!
  7. @Kella112 is it bad that I am married but think my surgeon is a "Richard Gere" from "Pretty Woman" type of cute....LOL Look but no touch
  8. :P:P:P Lunch time was my yummy dinner from last night. I made homemade turkey chili. I know, it's the middle of summer but I wanted something hardy and that was perfect with some sliced avocado & a tad of shredded Mexican cheese. YUM! I found the recipe that was titled "the best turkey chili recipe you will ever eat" and in fact, it was!

My shake this afternoon is the Syntrax Nectar Kiwi Strawberry with a banana. I brought in my magic bullet blender to work since it's light and portable. I used water this time instead of the almond milk. Sipping it now at my desk, it's pretty good. I'd give this one a 5! The banana takes over and taste just like strawberry banana shake. Yum!

Not quite sure what I am planning on tonight for dinner but since I had my main meal for lunch, it will consist of a dinner shake and a p.m. snack after (protein based of course- probably 2 hard boiled eggs.

^_^ 10 more days until surgery... I really hope my liver is teeny tiny from all of this!

  9. This weekend I found it difficult to write/journal anything with my dear soon to be 2 year old running around and keeping me busy. I have quite a few shakes to write about since Friday.

Friday's continuation of lunch was the Syntrax Nectar Crystal Sky. I'd give this a 4. Reminded me of Kool-aid. Not too shabby and kept me full.

For dinner Friday I had my left overs of baked chicken, sauteed spinach with olive oil and garlic and steamed broccoli, potatoes and cauliflower.

For my pm snack, I had the Syntrax Nectar Wild Grape. I blended it with PB2. I should have just had it plain.  I think it would have tasted so much better. In my head  I figured it would have tasted like a pb and jam sandwich. Because of my experiment, I gave it a 2 and 1/2. LOL.

Saturday morning I tried the Syntrax Nectar Cappuccino latte with pb2. Not bad. Some of these Syntrax latte's have that sweet after taste even though they say they are aspartame free. I have no idea what it is but I'm not a fan. The PB2 or banana kind of takes that away.

Hubs took me to see a movie and my n-laws watched our son. I didn't think ahead so I grabbed a smoothie at the Jamba Juice to stay hydrated. I could have totally snuck in my own shake or drank water but I was tending to my son's needs ahead of mine. I need to learn to make more time for myself. I do have anxiety and this kicks in right before we leave to go out whether it's the family or just me and my hubs. My mother-n-law and father- n law are great with my son but sometimes they don't listen to instructions I give them and thus causes the anxiety to come out. Ugh. Anyway, back to it....

So this Jamba Juice I had ordered was the PB Banana Protein and MAN did it have ALOT OF SUGAR IN IT. I should have made my own but I'm only human right....Yes, It was tasty but a medium size with 34g of protein, okay......58g carbs, 23g fat and ....eekk....49g of sugar .

Not, the best choice. Again, I'm only human but I need to really research my nutrition info. before just looking up and seeing "oh protein, that's what I need, I'll take that, please" on the big board of what looks good.

For dinner, I had a hoagie bowl from my local Wawa which was grilled chicken (all 3 stripes of it ) REALLY?!  packed with veggies and some honey mustard dressing.

Breakfast Sunday morning was Syntrax Nectar Strawberry Mousse. I swapped out water with almond milk and added 1/2 a banana. That was a 5 for sure! Very tasty!

Lunch I tried the Syntrax Nectar Caribbean Cooler with almond milk and 1 banana. Tasted just like a daiquiri. So good. One of my favorites so far! 5!!!!

Dinner I made turkey chili. Very good! High protein and so good!

Breakfast this morning, I tried the Syntrax Nectar Vanilla Latte with 1 banana and almond milk. Bit of an after taste again. I need to find out what the hell that is. Again, all of these protein shakes are aspartame free yet, I have this horrible sugary, "sweet-n-lowy" kind of after taste. I give this one a 3.

  10. About 70 lbs of the 97 I had initially lost.
  11. Hi @Chrisb428 Thank you! When is your big day? Excited? Nervous? Any pre-op diet?
  12. @Herewego2018 Congrats on your upcoming surgery! I am on the 2 week -pre op diet as well. My surgery is July 25th. I can tell you Syntrax Nectar is some pretty decent tasting protein shakes. I believe the cheapest is actually bariatric pal. I've been updating my profile status with updates of how each taste. I ordered the variety samples (17 FLAVORS) and some have been "meh", and some are very tasty...but to each, his own. I also have had the pure protein bars. They are very good! The chocolate caramel is delish! As for the clear diet post op, my hospital included a grocery list in my weight program book. If you want me to share, I can. Best of luck to you!
  13. Hi @Ylime and summer peeps! I am scheduled for July 25th here in Lehigh Valley, PA! On day 3 of my 2 week pre-op diet. I'm ready to roll!
  14. I think I should add that I have been eating these protein bars called pure protein. They aren't that bad. My favorite is the Chocolate Salted Caramel.....prefect combo of salty and sweet. At around 20g of protein, 2g of sugar and 200 calories, they are perfect for my pre-op 2 week diet and months out post op. They also have flavors like chocolate peanut butter, dark chocolate coconut, chocolate deluxe, birthday cake, apple pie, chocolate chip cookie dough and many more!

Check them out on their site but they are sold pretty much anywhere ;)

  15. Continuing the taste test of the Syntrax Nectar line, I tried the Fuzzy Navel yesterday for lunch. On the scale of 1 to 5, I'd give it a solid 4! When blended with too much ice, it becomes too frothy but still pretty good nonetheless. Last night I ate my meal of baked chicken, spinach and garlic sauteed in olive oil (drool:P) and a side of a steamed bag of broccoli, potatoes and cauliflower. It was all very yummy! I had plenty left over from me and my husband so I will have that tonight for dinner when he goes to work his part time job and I will be home alone with my son.

This morning, I had the Syntrax Nectar Chocolate Truffle. It was meh, standard chocolate protein shake but not the grit. I'd give it a 3.5. I finished it at work and was immediately hungry so I made another about 1.5 hours later, my (snack). I tried the Syntrax Nectar Lemon Tea. I was so hesitant but to my surprise it was very tasty, just like crystal light. I give this one a 5! Very pleased.

    4 days post vsg

@123mollie When I had my VSG in 10/2012, I was slumped over the chair in pain like "what did I get myself into" and "this was a mistake". That is the gas from anesthesia. Walk, walk, walk as much as you can around the house or if your well enough to venture outside and do a lap in your drive way or backyard. You have been though major surgery! Keep telling yourself that! You just need to heal, love! Rest up when you can and take your zofran! You SO got this!

    Birthday shenanigans

Ahhh, there is nothing comparable to a New York bagel, especially if they are from Brooklyn Enjoy it!
  19. @churchgirl You have the mindset and your new "tool" , make it a habit and your new way of eating and you will be fine. I had my initial VSG 10/2012 and years out. I too was a grazer. I say "was" because I am less than 2 weeks away from my revision and I'm not looking back. Something that was written in my hospital program and holds testament, "eat to live, don't live to eat". I just need to convince my brain to get happy neurons somewhere else

    Had surgery today

    A big congrats to you!
  22. @apositivelife4me I am the prime example of why not to drink carbonated beverages! That along with other factors (had my son and switched on different medication) contributed to my stretching out my sleeve and now here I am getting a revision in 2 weeks. I would not recommend it for the better part of a couple of years post op if ever. It's not worth it!
  23. Jodi1980

    Cheez its, my little snack

@sillykitty I will have to give each of those a try! Eager to try the moon cheese ones!
