Struggling
It will get better. I remember thinking “What the hell did I just do to myself?” We have just put our body and mind through a lot it’s gotta get used to everything.

New here!
Welcome Melba! The tiredness will get better as you are able to add more solid foods. Try to eat 5 small meals that are high in protein a day. That should really help. Good luck returning to work.

A New Chaper
Your insurance might not require a waiting period but they might have several of things you have to do before surgery. A psych eval, meeting with the dietitian so many times and meeting with your doctor several times before they will approve surgery. You’ll probably have to have another sleep test since yours was over a decade ago. But sometimes they are done at home. You wear a monitor for 1 to 2 nights at home. From that they determine if you have sleep apnea.

You are doing great! When have you lost 72 pounds in one month? Stop beating yourself up.!

How long to see improvement?
Your body has just been through major trauma & is still healing & adjusting to your new normal! It’s gonna take a couple of weeks. Listen to your body & don’t do too much too soon!

Feeling frustrated and demoralized
I’m confused. When did you have surgery? March 29th was yesterday.

Hiatal Hernia surgery before Gastric Bypass?
Everyone’s surgon is different. If yours is large then maybe he does need to do them at different times. My HH surgery was years ago & the recovery was pretty easy. When I had my GB my esophagus was it an L-shaped. I’m retired, the surgery itself was pretty easy. It’s getting your body used to your new stomach and your new way of eating. You are going to be weak for about a week to 10 days afterwards because your body is just gone through major change.

10 years since Gastric Bypass, and putting weight back on !
Surgon told us (my daughter & I) that if that happens go back to a full liquid diet for 2 weeks & then start eating the way he told us at the beginning. No more then 3.5 oz at a time, 3 meals a day with small healthy snacks in between. Or check out the Fast metabolism diet by Haylie Pomroy. Even though there is no way I can eat as much food as she wants a person to eat. Following each of her phases in ordered helped me get down to my goal weight!

What does 'feeling full' mean to you?
That sounds awful! Your poor tiny tummy. It’s probably your tummy being worried that is gonna come back up too. Take small “bites” of pudding slowly & a couple of minutes apart & see if that helps. I hope you feel better soon!

Post op Upset stomach
It might just take more time. Try again in a few days. For the 1st year my daughter couldn’t eat chicken without it upsetting her tummy. Now she has no problems eating anything! She is 4.5 years out. The only problem I have is getting sick when I eat too much! I am 5 years out.

Solid foods - did I eat too much?
My surgeon said to not eat more than 3.5oz of food so I always weigh my food when I’m at home. If I do eat too much I’m miserable & have the through up sometimes. I’m almost 5 years out.

Anyone have the hiatal hernia repair with gastric bypass?
I had hiatal hernia repair done at the same time. I don’t think my recovery was any different because of that.

I already eat almost nothing, how will this help me?
I had a gastric bypass because of medical issues. I had a fundolipication that had failed after about 8 years ago. This left my esophagus in an L shape & made it hard for food to go down. My surgeon is one of the top Thorasic surgeons in the country. He told me to get all my info on the internet ? He said that a Roux n y would permanently fit my problem. Because it was a medical problem & not just to loose weight I didn’t have to do all of the things weight loss people do. I did loose 70 pounds then put 15 back on. I think my body has settled on the weight that it is happy at. I know if I go over that my digestive tract will be unhappy.

Muscular Weakness after Bypass?
This is baffling. How much exercise do you do each week?

Size of what you put in your mouth to chew?
I think of it as cutting the food into toddler size pieces.

Complications 11 yrs after surgery
I have not gone through any of this before. Just wanted to say how sorry I am. Your story breaks my heart. You thought you made this decision for all the right reasons & then something like this comes up years & years later. I pray this can all be resolved soon & that a doctor can figure out what you need to make you whole again.

Migraines and Pre-Op Diet
Yes! I had them too. I think it’s from not eating any solid food. Hang in there. In the end it wi be worth it!

When were you cleared for more intensive exercise after RNY bypass?
Cleared at 6 weeks but still didn’t really feel like doing that much. 1 1/2 after surgery I discover Pilates & absolutely love it!

Sleeve revision to bypass 2/6.
I had a bypass & use the patch vitamins. I am almost 5 years out & haven’t had any problems with blood work. I take enough meds/supplements as it is & don’t want to add another thing to swallow. I know they are expensive but totally worth it to me.
-
Bruising and dizziness/hot flashes
Both can be caused by dehydration. I know it’s hard to get an all of your water the first two months. Try setting a timer on your phone to remind you to drink every 15 minutes. I still use my timer and I’m almost 5 years out from surgery.

Puréed option (Australia)
That’s a really cool service. Best of luck with it.
