    Muscular Weakness after Bypass?

This is baffling. How much exercise do you do each week?
  2. toodlerue

Size of what you put in your mouth to chew?

I think of it as cutting the food into toddler size pieces.
  3. I have not gone through any of this before. Just wanted to say how sorry I am. Your story breaks my heart. You thought you made this decision for all the right reasons & then something like this comes up years & years later. I pray this can all be resolved soon & that a doctor can figure out what you need to make you whole again.

    Migraines and Pre-Op Diet

Yes! I had them too. I think it’s from not eating any solid food. Hang in there. In the end it wi be worth it!
  5. Cleared at 6 weeks but still didn’t really feel like doing that much. 1 1/2 after surgery I discover Pilates & absolutely love it!

    Sleeve revision to bypass 2/6.

I had a bypass & use the patch vitamins. I am almost 5 years out & haven’t had any problems with blood work. I take enough meds/supplements as it is & don’t want to add another thing to swallow. I know they are expensive but totally worth it to me.
  7. Both can be caused by dehydration. I know it’s hard to get an all of your water the first two months. Try setting a timer on your phone to remind you to drink every 15 minutes. I still use my timer and I’m almost 5 years out from surgery.

    Puréed option (Australia)

That’s a really cool service. Best of luck with it.

    Joining the Ranks

So happy for you! We will be here for you as you prepare & after the surgery too!

How fast can you eventually eat?

I’m almost 5 years out. Sometimes I have to remind myself to eat slower because my 3.5 oz of food can be gone too quickly. Sitting down (not standing up at the counter) & putting my fork down between bites helps a lot. We eat at the couch a lot (it’s just me & my husband) so I cut all my meet up before we sit down. I really have to remind myself to slow down then! When I’m done eating I will swish some water in my mouth & swallow. It helps to get the taste of the food out of my mouth & any little partials that may be hiding in my teeth out. BTW: I still weight my food when I’m at home. I don’t go over 3.5 oz. I know if I eat more then that I will be uncomfortably full & have to lay down!

    Exercise first few weeks

MOST surgeons recommend not doing anything except walking for 6 weeks.

    Why so many sleeves

My daughter & I both had bypass. We both have GERD & that is the only way to go if you have GERD. She started at 305 & lost 150 lbs & has kept it off for 4 years. I started at 200 & have lost 70lbs & have kept it off for almost 6 years. A lot of people have the sleeve revised to a bypass because of GERD. What does your doctor recommend for you?

    Miss eating?

Sometimes my food is gone from my place sooner than I anticipated. I have to remind myself to chew my food more, eat slower & enjoy the food more.

    Talk To Me Peeps 😁

You don’t need to take as much to the hospital as you think. Toothbrush, hair brush, sandals or slippers for walking the hall, chapstick, phone charger. Wear the same thing home that you wore there, you aren’t gonna be in them for very long. You really won’t feel like reading.

    3 year update

Congratulations on all your accomplishments! Keeping the weight off can be tricky. We still have to deal with our food demons. I’m over 4 years out & I was just dreaming about one of my demons 👿 Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It is great to keep things in perspective & share them with others that will understand.

    Question About BMI

I would have told him how much I used to weigh! Impress him. Tell him your BMI used to be morbidly obese. So you will take a few points over normal any day! When I go to the doctor if mine is 1 point higher then it should be, I get sent home with a paper about weight loss & I healthy diet🙄

Pureed Stage 14 days post op

Try not to be so hard on yourself, the 1st couple of months can be hard. Your body has gone through a huge trauma & that’s why you are so tired. For the puréed stage I would make my family a pot roast with potatoes, carrots, celery & onion. The works. Then I would take a little bit of each & purée it in my magic bullet with some of the juices. I would also add unflavored protein powder to the mix. It was really good. It was like I was making my own high protein baby food. Maybe you could see a therapist to help your work through your food issues. The more weight that you loose the more energy you will have! Best of luck to you!

    Colonoscopy

Hi everyone. Tomorrow I’m having a colonoscopy, the 1st one since my bypass over 4 years ago. I’m a little worried about taking all the SuTab pills with all the water that is required. The doctor’s office said that my stomach acid will breakdown the pills quickly. But I don’t really have any stomach acid. I’m afraid the pills are gonna get washed down to quickly & won’t work. Anyone else have to do the awful prep after a bypass?
  19. There is also Compizine You might have to use a suppository 😬
  20. I’m sorry you are dealing with this. Have they given you anything for the nausea? They should give you something until you can have the GI done.

    Christmas cookie issues

You are not alone!!!! I have to not only throw it away in my kitchen garbage can, I have to take the bag out to the garage & put it into the big garbage can or I will keep eating it! People think that having surgery is the easy way out. It’s not, we all still have to face our food demons. We have worked really hard for every pound loss & trying to keep it off is hard!

    ARG!!

I hate it when that happens 😅
  23. Well my surgeon is actually one of the best lung transplant Dr in the country but he did my by pass. He told me to get all my info from the internet as I did just fine! But it’s never a bad idea to get a 2nd opinion.

Lapband to Gastric Bypass after 12 years with band

    Energy post-surgery

I was tired the 1st few weeks but that is to be expected after what my body just went through plus not eating very much those weeks too. But after my body adjusted to all of it I had more energy then I knew what to do with! Everyone is gonna be different & don’t NOT get the surgery because of what anyone says. Just make sure to follow your Drs instructions, you will find those very a lot too!
