Give it a few days. I missed ice water so much in the beginning but it hurt to drink - once actually crying about it. But I’m only 16 days out from surgery and I can drink it no problem - just not as fast as before.
-
I agree it is. But seltzer water [emoji120][emoji120][emoji120] Seriously can’t stop thinking about it today.
-
Haha yes exactly!!! It’s the best thing ever. I asked my nutritionist about it yesterday, and she literally told me I could never have it again unless I wanted my pouch to stop working for me and to gain everything back [emoji30][emoji30][emoji30]

I kicked my Diet Coke habit a few years ago by switching to seltzer water. But now I’m addicted to seltzer water and craving it basically all day every day!!
-
How king until you felt better without it? I would love to kick my Starbucks habit but it’s been years. I don’t miss diet soda at all but I do miss seltzer water - more than anything else !!

Scale won’t budge 16 days post op

Same exact thing happened to me. It’s so frustrating. Hopefully we just need to wait it out and the stall will end soon! -
First Stall - less than 2 weeks after surgery???
nycgirl18 replied to nycgirl18's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
That’s exactly what my nutritionist said yesterday as well. Although she said not to count carbs either which seems a little odd, just to count protein fluids and make sure I’m getting in protein first, then veggies and then carbs last. -
Yup they did! I went back for a second endoscopy with ultrasound and they marked the tumors with ink so my surgeon could see them from the outside of my stomach and remove them during surgery.

You’ll be fine. I was very nervous as well - the idea of having a tube down my throat terrifies me. You’ll be completely asleep and when you wake up, just feels like you had a great nap! Your throat might be sore the rest of the day but otherwise you should recover very quickly. Be thankful for the test - my pre surgery endoscopy found 2 small tumors in my stomach that I otherwise would have had no idea was there. Very uncommon though - good luck !

First Stall - less than 2 weeks after surgery???

Thanks for all the replies. It’s just so frustrating and demoralizing to go from seeing a decline on the scale each day to none .. and even a pound or 2 up. I am having trouble getting in all of my protein each day, but protein shakes are also very high calorie. I’ve been trying to stay around the 500 calorie mark, which makes it almost impossible to get everything in. I am speaking to my nutritionist tomorrow and hopefully she can give me some more guidance / reassurance. -
How long is healed? Guessing 6 or 8 weeks. Seltzer water is my favorite thing and the only thing I miss! I’ve been reading a lot about it and I don’t think he carbonation can stretch your pouch - you would just burp a lot. The carbonation can make food slide through your stomach a lot faster so drinking it while eating is a definite no no.

Post 2 weeks today !

Hi everyone I’m in nyc as well (if you can’t tell by my username)

@wigo check out project repat. They will take your old T-shirts and turn them into a quilt. Or if you are crafty (which I am not) it’s a project you could do yourself !

First Stall - less than 2 weeks after surgery???
nycgirl18 replied to nycgirl18's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had RNY on April 3. Lost 15 on the pre op diet and another 18 pretty quickly post op. However I’ve been within the same 2-3 pound range since last Thursday or so. -

Weird that no one at work has commented on my weight-loss..

You can definitely tell. You look so fantastic!!! Don’t let what others don’t say minimize your accomplishment. Congratulations !!! -
Thank you ! My hunger is returning and it’s really freaking me out so I appreciate the reassurance. And I’m glad you are doing so well !!

I was bypassed on 4/3 and have enjoyed not feeling hungry. However, I woke up his morning hungry which has progressed throughout the day. It’s not time to have another shake or broth yet, I’ve been drinking water and had a sugar free popsicle - but still so hungry!! I have definitely “gulped” water a few times - is it possible my pouch has stretched out already?? I also have only lost about a pound in the last 2 or so days. I’m a worrier and really really freaked out this surgery won’t work for me.

Feeling Hungry & Freaked out
nycgirl18 replied to nycgirl18's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Oh I’m so sorry to hear that. Are you back on a journey trying to lose the weight ? I’m afraid that’s what’s going to happen to me also so if you can provide any advice of what not to do Id appreciate it so much. I hope you don’t mind me asking. -
I’m having this exact same fear because I gulp also. I’m supposed to transition to purees today but I’m absolutely terrified to - what If I start eating again and can’t stop. Do you feel more restriction with food than with liquids?
-
I slept propped up and on my side in the hospital, with extra pillows supporting my back and hugged to my tummy. My surgeons said that was fine as long as I was comfortable. At just over a week and a half out, I can sleep comfortably in any position - even somewhat on my stomach.
