  1. I’ve been a lurker on this forum for a while, but have not posted yet - trying to get up my courage[emoji51][emoji15] I’m 1 week post op from RNY today, and for the post part doing very well. No more pain really, just struggling to get in all my fluids and vitamins. However, I have developed a pretty nasty rash under my chest - on the bottom of the girls and below - it’s red bumpy and very very itchy. The rash is over 1 incision, but a very small one. At first I thought it was maybe a heat rash - I didn’t wear a bra in the hospital, which was actually very warm, and woke up sweating a few times each night. But I’ve been home for 5 days now, and the rash doesn’t seem to be getting any better. I have no known allergies. Has anyone had a similar rash? Does anyone know if it’s okay to use some sort of topical cream? Thanks everyone [emoji4]

    I Feel Pretty

I saw I Feel Pretty the other night and it was absolutely amazing. I happen to love Amy Schumer and while I know she is not everyone’s cup of tea, this is a movie I would recommend every woman (and man) to see. It totally captures the feeling of not being good enough because you aren’t skinny enough or pretty enough. It reinforces the lesson that the most beautiful thing about a woman is her confidence, and the friendships she shares. I laughed, I cried and I left feeling awesome about myself and beyond excited to continue this journey.

    Eating too fast

It doesn’t make you sick ? I will throw up if I eat too fast. Only tips I really have are the usual ones - use small plates and cutlery, cut your food into small pieces and try to chew at least 20-25 times, put your fork down in between bites.
  4. Is it possible I’ve hit my first stall less than 2 weeks after surgery?? I wrote on another post that hunger returned with a force 9 days after surgery, which is devastating to me. Now, I’ve been at a stall for the past 5 days or so, and have actually gained 2 pounds. I don’t understand what’s going on. Is it possible I’ve hit a first stall this soon ?? I’m 2 weeks post op today.

    Soda!

I’m a coffee drinker and seltzer addict!! My program allows coffee, as long as we drink enough water to stay hydrated. I have moved from always ordering a venti to ordering a tall and most of the time not even finishing it. I don’t miss soda at all. But it was the carbonation I loved and I really do miss seltzer and sparkling water [emoji30]

    NYC anyone?

I’m 4 weeks post op RNY so I definitely know what you are feeling!! Broke down crying a few times and now as I transition into more foods it’s gotten even harder.
  16. Eeek!! What kind of smoothie?
  17. Update! It may be because I foolishly took a ducalax yesterday and spent the majority of the day in the bathroom, and I’m afraid of speaking too soon... but the scale was finally down this morning!!!
  18. Guys it’s a week and a half later and I’m still stalled !! This is so frustrating. I’m on track to not have lost ANY weight between by 1 week and 5 week post op appointment [emoji30]
  19. Help please!!! I’ve been really struggling to get in my required protein intake everyday so in an attempt to raise it, I brought the unflavored isopure protein powder... it is definitely not unflavored. So far I’ve added it to oatmeal and to a smoothie with spinach strawberries and blueberries but both have been really nasty / hard to stomach. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to using this product ? What can I add it to that has worked well for you ?

    Could use some support...

Agree with AshAsh above. Also highly reccomend the book through thick and thin - it’s about the weight loss journey and focuses a lot on the mental side of things as well as the physical. It’s maybe 7 dollars on amazon and totally worth the read.

    Alcohol and RNY

Did the carbonation in the procescco bother you ?

    Alcohol and RNY

How long ago did you have your surgery? My program doesn’t have any restrictions on alcohol (which I don’t know that I agree with). Anyway, you do want to be careful - your new tummy is sensitive, you’ll feel tipsy or drunk a lot quicker, there are a lot of empty calories and (most disturbing to me) there are certain studies that have shown post WLS patients can have a higher tendency for alcohol dependence. Addiction runs in my extended family, so that is something I’m going to be careful and mindful of. I’d give it at least a couple months and then start with something easier on the stomach. I don’t even know what that would be - red wine ?

    canceled surgery 3 times

Sweetie, I agree with the above posters that you are too young for this surgery. There is absolutely no shame in that. It is a big life changing commitment and as hard as you know it will be, it’s actually harder. If you are unable to commit to the liquid diet, I fear that you will be unable to commit to the post surgery diet, at which point could be detrimental. My suggestion - talk to a therapist about your addition to food, see a nutritionist to learn healthy eating habits and find a form of exercise that you love. If financially possible for you, get a personal trainer to kick your ass in the gym once a week. And then, in a few years you still think you may need the surgery, revisit the idea when you are more ready for it. Good luck with everything.
  24. I appreciate all the advice I can get. It’s been almost a full week and I’m still stalled!!! Eating less than 500 calories a day I don’t know how this is even possible and I am so frustrated !!
  25. I haven’t had any yet post RNY, I’m 2 weeks and 2 days out. The work day is hard to get through without a little caffeine kick! When did everyone start having coffee again? Did it upset your stomach at all ?
