I got mine almost immediately. Totally freaked out the nurse....he was male. He thought my incisions were bleeding at first! He asked a female nurse to come in and help me with clean up and she told me about his reaction and we both laughed about it.

I don’t know if this counts but I plan to burn my maternity jeans once they are too big and buy a some nice new ones for non-pregnant women. Really looking forward to doing that.
  3. Congrats!

    Clothes! Clothes! Clothes!
Besides necessity, there are a few reasons it is fun:
    1. I am no longer limited to plus sizes. Exploring stores and having more options is amazing, whole new world of possibilities. 🤩
    2. My body has a better shape so it is actually possible to look good in clothes. I don't feel like a blob anymore 😊
    3. If done right, shopping is decent exercise. Lots of walking. Bring a water bottle and get to work! 😉
Side note: I do love pedicures, but have actually gone less since losing weight bc it is also kinda exciting how easily I can reach my toes! No more huffing and puffing!

Just outed myself at a newer job. 😮
Had surgey 5 months ago and hadn't told anyone at my new job yet. I don't know them and don't want to spend my life talking about it. Already got sh#t for saying this but, I am more than just a WLS patient.
THEN . . . . someone I work with is having surgery in 2 weeks and is so scared she is thinking about canceling. Poor thing is terrified and alone . . . .. Really felt like it was my duty to tell her I had it too and she will be alright.
Guess I have another surgery buddy. Not sure how others at work will react. I don't care that it is personal, just don't want it to define me too much, especially to a bunch of strangers.

I have done a lot of research on diets (as most obese ppl have, I suspect) and what I find is, from Keto to Vegan to Paleo to Weight Watchers they all have something in common:
    1) avoid sugar
    2) avoid refined grains and other highly processed carbs
    3) avoid processed food and fake food even if it has no carbs (hot dogs, diet soda, etc)
    4) eat whole food as close to nature as possible
    5) eat your veggies!
Beyond that there is a ton of variations and different things work for different people

Stress and depression absolutely impact your weight loss - the past month has been hellish on a number of fronts for me, and I’m now realizing how much my eating habits slid. Capacity hasn’t changed a bit, but frequency and junk content went WAY up. I can only imagine it was chasing an endorphin high I used to get while eating.
I didn’t gain but I did stall, and that’s not good six months out. Early this week I realized what was happening, went back on my depression meds (I’m reverse-seasonal, I NEVER take them in autumn), and refocused on what I’m eating and when. Lost 3 lbs this week, so it’s possible to get back on track.
Damn, though. Even when you intellectually know ahead of time that backsliding is possible, when you get walloped by a stress event (or ALL THE STRESS EVENTS, like this month) your old habits sneak right back in.

Walter thank you for the short version of the reset diet 🙂 I will try it!
I went to my appointment with my surgeon yesterday for my one year post op appointment and he said that at my current weight, I have far exceeded his expectations, and he showed me a bunch of numbers!
He said if I want to lose 10 more pounds, he can give me phentermine for a short time and referred me to a nutritionist. So I started the medication today! I exercise rigorously so I know it's that I'm eating more than I should and stop eating anything bad for me. Sometimes I think my whole hunger is back. Then I start tripping and thinking the doctor didn't make my stomach small enough, because he hadn't made the pouch small enough for another patient and she wasn't losing much, even though she was following the program. So she got and endoscopy done at another surgeon's office and sure enough, the pouch is not that small at all! So she is having the surgery redone, but the bummer is that the metabolic change that causes the initial massive weight loss can not be redone. She is having to do a bypass now!
The doctor also said that carbs cause your blood sugar to spike and then you experience a crash which causes you to crave more carbs.
It was a very good visit overall. I felt much better than I did when I went in!

While everyone is different, you should go by what your team has given you for what to eat and how much.
    Here is my typical day.
    Breakfast: Premier Protein shake
Lunch: Pan Seared Shrimp w/ cajun seasoning 3 oz
Snack: Harvest Snaps (I need to quit these because I end up eating too many)
Dinner: Varies - usually something my my recipe list for example Greek Turkey Burger, Salmon, Steak, panned seared tilapia, chicken (cooked in a variety of ways NOT fried) - most meat is 3-4 oz. I will often have a tiny little spinach salad topped with 1 sliced strawberry, 1 T of blue cheese, and 1 t goddess dressing or a small serving of sauteed onions w/ squash or zucchini.
Sometimes, I will have some of my dinner and then save some of a snack. Most days I'm getting anywhere from 70-90 g of Protein. There have been a few days where I was 60-70 and a few days where I was over 90.
I would be happy to share my recipe document with you if you would like just drop me a message.
If I'm out, it depends on where I go, but if it's fast food, whatever I order would most likely be served protein style (no bun). I've gone out for sushi and order with light or no rice, gyros and just had the meat, and fajitas.

My 7 weeks starts Monday, but I eat 4-6 small meals per day avg 100 cal per serving. I only have shakes now if I know I won't meet my Protein goals or want to add some to my coffee (1/3 bottle with Decaf coffee). 40cal, 10 gr protein
My Breakfast is often light and fit dannon yogurt 80cal, 13 g protein with 2 Tbsp of ground flax 70 cal
Lunch tuna creations 70 cal, 15 gr protein. 2 oz cottage cheese 40 cal, 8 gr protein
2nd lunch 2 oz deli turkey 12g protein cheese stick , 5 gr protein
Dinner 2 oz chicken, 14 gr protein, cottage cheese 2oz 8 gr protein
If I'm still short I add Peanut Butter or other high protein snack.

I mix up my meals, but work day lunches tend to go tuna just because I don't have to measure.

My daily cals are 600 - 700 pending day of week.

real food, not processed eat when I'm hungry, stop when I'm not lay off the booze. I can only remember three rules at a time...seems to be working quite well! 😊

I went jeans shopping at Lucky yesterday. I shopped in a brick-and-mortar store that wasn’t a big and tall store. I had to try on different options to see which was best. Oh, it was a whole new world.

If you eat too fast, that could cause overeating as well.
I use a meal timer. 30 sec chew, 30 sec break. It has helped me so much, my food intake has decreased 1/2 - 1.5 oz per meal because I'm eating more slowly and consciously.

I went for a stroll with my coworkers and didn’t hate it, kept up, and wasn’t a hot, sweaty out of breath mess after!

Also- I wear a men’s tee shirt size that’s smaller than my husbands! This hasn’t been the case since the year we met.

It’s things like the above that keep me motivated and going!

I rode any ride I wanted to at Universal Studios without worrying whether I'd fit! Buckled my seatbelt on the plane with belt to spare. Just, overall, felt "normal" for the first time in a very long time.

I am a newborn baby photographer. Others like myself wrap babies by putting them in their lap. I have never been able to do that because my tummy was to big. I had to use a table or wrap them on the bean bag I use to pose them. TODAY I wrapped the baby on my lap! I almost cried. It was so much easier.

I was pretty straightforward about it at work. I explained that I’d worked long enough with endocrine disorders to know I didn’t want type 2 diabetes. I wanted to live a longer, healthier life than what was down the road for me if nothing changed. Everone seemed pretty understanding.

That I had weight loss surgery. My boss is the one that suggested it to me after he had a gastric bypass and two others I've talked to have went on to get it.

Didn't see any reason to bother covering it up.
