  1. Massachusetts. It's freezing right now. Actually it's colder than freezing. And wind is evil. The air hurts your face, and no matter how much insulation (both weight AND clothing haha) you can never stay warm!
  2. It's never to late to take a new lease on life I will cheer you on! Has your surgery been scheduled yet?
  3. Can. Not. Wait! In all seriousness, I can't wait to not have knee pain going up the stairs, or to not avoid taking vacations that involve planes because I hate having to stretch the seat belt out all the way in order to fit. And can't wait to shop in regular stores instead of taking a gamble at online plus size retailers.
  4. Congratulations! Must be an amazing and exciting feeling to see the numbers huh? I can't wait for that. How was your first two weeks? Finding the energy to walk an hour a day seems like a fantastic accomplishment. I am glad that since I won't be getting my surgery until summer, I'll get to walk outside. I always do better in warm weather, and then tend to pack on the weight in colder months since I avoid cold like a cat does water.
  5. Wow, you look fantastic!!! That outfit with the green sweater is on point! I kind of want it, as soon as I loose 1/3 of myself that is :). I have to say being in the “wonderland” is almost a pipe dream! I just can’t imagine it. It’s been almost 9 years since there was a pretty little 1 at the beginning of my scale. You are an absolute inspiration! Can’t wait to see all your future progress!
  6. Sweet! Where are you all in the process? I did the full day immersion day requires, met with the psych and have my first nutritionist appt this Wednesday. My next psych is 4/5, and I meet with the surgeon 4/12. No luck on endo being scheduled yet, I guess it’s difficult to schedule. also, am I the only one that can’t wait to NOT shop plus size?!? I have such issues finding clothes that actually fit, I just can’t wait to have OPTIONS!
  7. Hi! I asked this question (though my bmi is 44), and the response was your weight the day of surgery does not determine your eligibility, but instead your starting weight at the beginning of the program is what qualifies you. You are expected and encouraged to lose weight during the process. Hope that helps! But as the poster above said, your insurance could play a big part of it.
  8. Hi! I am going to Mount Auburn Weight Management Center, my surgeon will be Dr. Julie Kim!
  9. Thank you all for your insight! I double and triple checked with my insurance, even read the medical jargon 14 page breakdown of coverage and requisites for it, and no time threshold was set. They only request proof of continued weight gain with attempts at weight loss, which I have. Here's to hoping that may speed up my process!

    Secret sleevers?!

I am so glad that others are thinking about this. My family is mostly supportive? I've mentioned it a few times, however I am the only overweight one, so they all think (even if they only say it occasionally) that I should be able to do it myself. However I've been trying for 7 years! So I keep going back and forth on whether or not I want to tell that I've started the process and will be having it done no matter what. But my awesome husband knows, and is super supportive <3 He's kind of amazing like that!
  11. Hello! So I am technically 30, can I still respond? Haha I am hoping to have my surgery sometime in June or July, but I am secretly hoping that since I don't have a time prerequisite on belonging to a program or what not, that maybe they can squeeze me in sooner. Who knows!
  12. Good afternoon! I just joined up yesterday, but am in the beginning process of pre-op. I have my my first meeting with the psych and nutritionist down, but won't meet with the surgeon until April 12. Not going to lie, patience has never been a virtue of mine! However I've already implemented the nutritionist's recommendation (I tend to NOT eat because of my job where I am always rushing around) and then end up eating only dinner and nighttime snacks. I've spent the past 2 weeks actively eating 5 healthy meals a day (3meals 2 snacks) and boy is that difficult. However I am super excited about the next steps, and can't wait to get my life back on track! Anyone else in MA by chance?

    Finally Reached My Goal Weight

You look absolutely fantastic! These stories make my decision feel so much less terrifying because I want THAT. Feeling good, being proud, and wearing clothes that make me happy instead of make me look less big. Congrats on your success If you don't mind, what kind of exercise do you typically do?
  14. Thank you very much Matty! Do you also have Harvard Pilgrim? I am glad to hear they are good, I think I would be devastated if it got denied. On a personal note, congratulations on your recent surgery! I hope you are feeling the best you can a few days out.
