What about your NSV (non scale victories). Are your clothes fitting better? Do you have more energy? Don't focus so much on the scale and don't compare your weight loss to others.

browneyez42 got a reaction from Chrisb428 in Have you purchased any goal clothing for after surgery?
Before I considered surgery, I was a bona fide shopaholic. I would see things and buy them without trying them on...thinking, yes, I can wear it. So my closet had lots of clothes in various sizes. Well, fast forward to three weeks post op. I look in my closet and start trying on all these clothes that I couldn't wear when I bought them and guess what...THEY FIT! I went from a 1X to a large and I'm beginning to think I could wear a medium. These non scale victories are awesome! The one thing I need to invest in is a good leather belt. I've worn out my old one and there's no more room for another hole

The pre op diet is harder than recovering from surgery. It's all mental... hang in there and the outcome will be wonderful.

When I was on the 14 day liquid diet, the first few days were rough. One day I was really hungry but determined not to give in to my ex best friend (food). I grabbed a bottle of Water and walked to a park and four miles later, I returned home, showered, ate some Soup and went to sleep. Mind over matter every time. Ya'll are doing great... so very proud of the both of you [emoji4]

The only Protein Shake I enjoy is Premiere. The first few days after surgery, you will need rest because your body needs time to heal. I was in the mall walking five days afterwards. I couldn't lift more than five pounds for six weeks, so please be careful with that. Anytime you need to talk, reach out. We're all here to help you get to the loser's bench. During my pre-op phase, there were always temptations...cookies, cakes, doughnuts, fried chicken and I could go on. I asked four of my friends to each commit to joining me for two days of liquids. They motivated me and it comforted me knowing I wasn't alone. Hang in there guys, you're doing great. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. [emoji4]

Mostly, the liquid diet is to shrink your liver for surgery. You don't want to get there and they have difficulty reaching your stomach. When I found this out, it made me not want to cheat.

As soon as you can, begin walking. It will help with the gas pains. Don't compare your weight loss to others, everyone is different. If you can, take Biotene with you to help with dry mouth. Good luck.

You just hit a bump in the road. Pick yourself up, dust off and get back on track. You're doing great by making the first step to have surgery. We have all battled the dreaded food addiction, but you can and will overcome it. When you get to the two week pre-op diet, that's when you will need to draw all your mental strength to get through it... that's harder than recovering from surgery. Don't beat yourself up. Start over.

I'm sure you can do it pre-op, but doing so post op will cause gas!

So I had my six week checkup yesterday and I've lost a total of 38 pounds from when I first started this journey. He said not to compare my weight loss with anyone else and I'm right on track. I feel great and so happy I finally made the decision to have surgery.
