Dr Weiner is not my surgeon but I love his YouTube videos- they are so helpful! Aren’t they though. That is how I found him. Then realized he’s in my state and I knew I needed to call him. And how he is in his videos is EXACTLY how he is in person. Not only is he AMAZING. His office staff is as well.

Twos days before my surgery date my insurance denied me because my family doctor didn’t use proper wording in my 6 month pre op visits.

I would suggest Celebrate or Bariatric Advantage. I know for Celebrate you can order a sample pack and it is FILLED with everything! I actually did my Celebrate sample pack unboxing on youtube now that I think about it.

I am scheduled for 8/29/18! Cant wait. This is my second surgery date so fingers crossed!!

I totally feel your stress and anxiety about the whole insurance process. I know I posted my story a few months back but I completed my 6 month pre op and am currently DOING IT AGAIN! I originally did my 6 month with my family doctor but because of how she worded my paperwork my insurance denied me the first time. My surgeon did everything he could and even called the insurance company to do a peer to peer with the doc that oversees the cases. NOPE! I was set for surgery and it was denied 2 days before!!!! So I was already doing my pre-op diet, had my vitamins and felt prepared. My new surgery date is now August 29th and I can not for the life of me let myself get prepared. Its feels like a mental road block. I haven't thought about surgery or anything to do with it other than going to my appointment. And for the most part my calendar reminders pop up and that is how I know when my next apt is. I just can not bring myself to think about the surgery or what I should be doing.

Figured I would come on and update everyone. The insurance denied my surgery with my doctors written out 6 month sheets. So I have to redo my 6 month then can try again. My 6 months will be up Aug 8th of this year so I should be able to get it approved then. I will be doing all my visits with my surgeon this time. I feel beyond frustrated also. Found out last night that my family doctor didn't properly document my 6 month pre op and now have to re do it. I am re-doing it with my surgeon this time. I really cant believe that happened. Every step of the way (once my 6 months were done) has been a mess. My family doc needed to send the forms to my surgeon to submit for insurance. she did only they weren't signed. Then they send them back signed only one of the months were missing. Then to find out they just pretty much made a template and copied it 5 times to submit for the 6 months. Wasted lots of time and money only for them to cost me more now doing it all over again with another doc. So I was supposed to have surgery tomorrow and now I cant have it until Aug or Sept. WHICH I am ok with at least knowing I can still have it. But the wasted energy, time, money and everything else I went through just to have it thrown out the window. Now I have a little more time to prepare and get things in order a little bit but GGGGRRRRR doesn't help the fact that I'm angry

I called my surgeon few minutes ago. She said he called just after lunch. Still no update and she was calling right now. So back to waiting for a call

So I did my 6 month through my family doc. Well she had it under supervised diet. Didn’t work it as weight management. So they initially denied it. Then my surgeon did a peer to peer and had her hand write them out on the sheet for the insurance. Which she did. But the first time she didn’t sign them. Then by time they got them back to her and she sent them back there was one missing. Now they finally have them and the insurance is either dragging their feet or just denied it again. I really don’t have a clue. So between them being super picky down to the verbiage and my doc office this is getting super stressful. And I’m supposed have everything lined up for surgery on Wednesday. Feels impossible. I just want answers

Has anyone else had any problems with BCN? Between BCN and my family doc this whole process is way more stressful than it should be......LOOSING MY MIND!

I fee that same way today. I’m on the verge of surgery. Scheduled for this Wednesday. Still waiting for insurance approval. Tons of miss happenings with paperwork. My surgeon did an appeal we sent over hand filled out forms for my 6 month diet. Now fingers crossed. I should of heard Friday. I’ve called the office twice this morning and still nothing. So hard and frustrating when I have yet to get things I need because I still am not approved. Plus having to get my ride situated with taking days off work. I’m beyond stressed. And it’s killing me.

I am doing RNY. I’ve actually not been able to bring myself to do much planning yet. So much has been going on. My surgery will be at Oakland Regional in Michigan. My surgeon is Dr.Matthew Weiner. Having RNY 3/21. Just been a lot going on in my personal life. And had to appeal my insurance, my surgeon spoke with them Friday. But I didn’t get a call yet. So have to call Monday. So it’s right down to the wire. But they aren’t worried that’s why they have kept my surgery date.

I’m having cold feet as well. It’s getting so close and I’m FREAKING OUT!

Yes. As long as you have 6 consecutive months of weight management appointments within the last 2 years you should be good. I’m going through that right now. My surgeon was so confident in my case and history they scheduled my surgery while we waited for approval. Well got the call today it was denied simply because in my 6 months of my appointments the doc didn’t dictate “weight management” in the notes they won’t approve it. So they are working on it but I may have to do it again. Which sucks. My surgery was in a week and a half and to have this pop up is super stressful.
