I'm 5'3" and was 55 at time of surgery. I believe my highest weight was over 300 in 2015 but I didn't get on scales then. Recorded HW 271.5. Day of Surgery - 246.9. As of today - 156. So from my highest weight - probably 150 pounds. From recorded high - 115. I'm about 20 months out. Because I'm of a certain age, I lost a bit slower, but I still have weight coming off. I now am working on building muscle mass and decreasing body fat. My body fat is about 31 percent right now and I'm shooting for 28.

I'll be in the same boat as you by the end of this month. All my stuff should be submitted in the beginning of June. I have my very last appointment May 31st. Hang in there. Mine should be st the end of August. That's what I want anyway.

This is why I only tell people on a need to know basis. My mom and sisters know. My mom isn't very happy about it but keeps her comments to herself. After talking to my sisters, they're very encouraging and happy for me. I've always been bigger and even when I lose weight, I gain it right back and they know this.

Omg I just did my sleep study last night. Worst thing ever. I was up damn near all night. She said I did sleep enough to get a good reading but I was hooked up to all different wires and had a finger thing on and something up my nose.. It was horrible. I've been up since 4am. I'm exhausted. I cannot wait to sleep tonight. I wish they would've let me do it at home. They had wires stuck to my head... Ugh lol

I’m almost there too! Getting anxious

My therapist is awesome. I see her for other issues and she read me the questions and we answered them together lol. Thank God that's over. Almost done all my pre op testing! September should be my surgery month!

The surgery won't change your thinking... It won't change your cravings. You'll still want the same unhealthy foods.. But you have to change your ways of eating. Get a job or a hobby so you're not sitting at home bored. The only one that can help you is you.

I cannot wait to fit on carnival rides with my son. I took him one time to a carnival and was able to fit. Then I quit smoking at gained a lot of weight and now have to have other people take him..

I got a paper from my surgeons office saying according to my insurance I need 3 months of medically managed weight loss program but the insurance website says 6 months... So I called my insurance and she said it doesn't say for how long. Sweet baby Jesus someone help me here lol. I'm so frustrated. I thought this whole time I could have my surgery by June come to find out it could be in September... Anyone else have this problem?

Insurance companies' protocols for treatment are considered proprietary and they will rarely, if ever, divulge them directly to a member. So it's unlikely you'll be able to get someone from the appropriate department to tell you exactly what your pre-op requirements are other than the number of months you'll need to diet. Even then, you'd only get information like that through a customer rep who is not likely to be medically trained and may not be aware of differing requirements based on comorbidities and such.
You may have some luck calling the insurance company and asking for a case nurse or someone with more medical knowledge than a regular customer service representative. And if you still fail to get the information you need, call them again and tell them you wish to file a grievance due to your inability to get the proper health information you need. That will really get their attention.

Thanks. It's just very frustrating trying to get an answer.. This is what they're there for and I cannot be helped. Ugh. Well, hopefully it's three months but I'm going to prepare myself to hear 6 months. Womp womp lol

I was supposed to have mine this past week, but had to reschedule it. I had to fill out about 19 pages of paperwork. Lots of questions about your behavior towards food. Your history of being obese. I was told it’s a one hour interview then another test/ questionnaire to do after.
Good luck. Mine is rescheduled for April 3rd I think.

I didn't know they had such a thing. Did your insurance cover this?
