9 days out from surgery, energy level at rock bottom!
Hi Kris, I am feeling a bit tired myself. Matter of fact I haven't done much of anything this entire three day weekend. I have just sat around the house because I have no energy. I am sorry to hear that you aren't doing well...you seemed to great that day we talked at the hospital. I hope that you start to feel better soon. Keep in touch. E

Surgery in two days
So...I board a plane in the morning to head down to Mexico for my surgery. It still seems unreal. I can't really wrap my head around the fact that it's tomorrow. I am going through all the motions getting everything ready. But I am doing it in a bit of a haze. I keep thinking about my surgery like it's way out in the future. Then suddenly I realize it's in two days and I panic. I think my body is acutely aware of the fact of what's going on as I have severe anxiety and have had an upset stomach all day. Just because my mind is trying to block it out....doesn't mean my body wants to cooperate. LOL I can't wait until the surgery part is behind me and I can start dealing with my life afterwards. It seems like I have been so focused on this surgery that I can't think of anything else. I spend way too much time on these boards and way too much energy thinking about the procedure. I wish that I had someone to go with me to give me some moral support. I will probably freak out the night before while by myself in the hotel room. Oh well...the wheels are in motion. YIKES.

No need for Reconstructive Surgeries
I have seen folks that have lost a lot of weight and honestly didn't seem to need any at all. There there are those that really could have used it. In the end...when they were all dressed they looked great. I suppose like everyone says it depends on genetics...length of obesity...etc. I have in the past lost appx 70 lb and although I still needed to lose about 30 lbs...I don't think that I would have even considered plastics. I will say that I have horrible bat wings...and have for years. Hopefully, they will shrink to an acceptable level after surgery with some exercise. I know that loose skin is loose skin and amount of exercise is going to help...but at least there will be some muscle in there to take up some space! Good luck.

pre surgery over eating
I have been eating like there is no tomorrow. I know that I shouldn't be...but...I can't for the life of me stop. I am so glad that I am having surgery on the 6th. I am hazard to my health..lol. I start my pre-op low carb diet on Tuesday. So...hopefully....at the very least I will get my liver where it needs to be for surgery and I will deal with the weight gain post op. I know that I am dealing with the 'last meal' syndrome. I just didn't realize that I was going to have so many of them! This too shall pass. I don't want to beat myself up about it. It is what it is.

January Sleevers
Hey Denise, I am having my surgery with Dr. Aceves on the 6th...so I guess I will be seeing you there!! Yay! I am so looking forward to being at goal by this time next year. Oh to look great is some holiday pictures would be nice I am not doing a physical with my pcp as my insurance sucks and I have to meet a $3,000.00 deductible before insurance even starts to pay anything...so I want to avoid the additional expense. Besides..from what I hear Dr. Aceves is quite thorough in his pre-op testing, so I feel confident. I can't wait to get in and get done with it. I have been researching wls for several years now. I was actually scheduled about a year and a half ago and had to cancel because I got sick right before I was to fly to Mexico. Can't wait to meet you. Have a great day!

Bay Area CA
I didn't use Dr. Foster, but I was moving towards surgery with Dr. Barry Sanchez in the same office. My insurance changed and I have to start over with a new dr. I would reccomend Dr. Sanchez. I thought he was wonderful when I met him. Let me ask as many questions as I wanted, didn't rush the appointments. Etc.

Update on my insurance drama
'They only approve certain doctors and it's their money. So, my advice to you is to pick up the pieces, make sure the insurance WILL cover the surgery and start over again with the approved doctors. Count this time lost as a well learned lesson. Believe me, it will be well worth it...' Thanks for all the advice I really appreciate each of your replies. Although, I am not sure exactly what lesson I could have learned from this as I did follow all of my insurance requirements, they were going to cover the surgery and the doctor and the hospital were in network and approved by my insurance. The fact that my company decided to change insurers had nothing whatsoever to do with me as they just decided that they wanted a better rate on their premiums. It just so happened to fall smack dab in the middle of my lengthy Quest for weight loss surgery.
