  1. I have my first consultation with the surgeon and his team this coming Monday, 4/16. I’m nervous and excited at the same time! I just had a new picture taken for my driver license today and I always dread them because they always add like 10lbs to my face. I seriously look like an angry prison guard ☹️. I already know from speaking to my insurance that they do require a 6 month supervised diet, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a surgery before end of the year. I luckily just saw my PCP a couple weeks ago so I have blood work completed, good blood pressure, normal thyroid, slightly elevated A1C (prediabetes)
I’d love to have a friend for support and info along the way. Shoot me a message if you ever want to chat.

That's exactly me. All tests good except the prediabetes! I did the seminar in November but didn't see the surgeon until the beginning of March. Oxford has me on 7 monthly visits with the nutritionist. I have my 1st visit on the 23rd. I'm also hoping for the end of the year surgery. Let's start 2019 off feeling better!

  2. Hi Bergen County here as well! I know what you mean it took about 5 months from my 1st visit with the surgeon in August 2017 and I had the sleeve done January 2018. I did it for health reasons and now I go to the gym 4 times a week minimum. Which gym do you go to?

I go to a gym in Hackensack. My Dr is in Paramus and I will probably have the surgery at Pascack in Westwood

  3. Hi I'm in Bergen County. Just starting the process. Met with surgeon and have my 1st nutritionist appt on the 23rd. I go to the gym twice a week but need to go more and do machines. Since making this decision I feel so excited and impatient but I need to work on my eating habits. I hope to have surgery before years end. Everything hurts lol and i feel my energy level is non existent.

  4. This is a good. My boyfriend will be getting sleeved about 3 months or so before me if all goes as planned. Which is perfect because like you, I have English bulldogs. My 3 are older and 1 sometimes requires to be carried. So one of us has to be healed before the other goes in. I am also worried about eating in front of him. I am a big fan of my Protein Shakes in the morning now. I love them. So that's not an issue. I am worried about food at night. I guess I will have to wait for him and he can let me know how he feels about it. Either way, I will be supportive and do what I can to make his new journey easier and I hope he will do the same for me.

  5. I have been reading a lot the past couple of weeks. I have had my consultation with the surgeon. I am meeting with my gp Monday to get him on board. I have to make the 1st of my 7 months pre op requirements of nutritionist. I am thankful for that. I need to learn to be prepared for my post op life. I love reading all these stories and I can't wait to be one of the great stories.

  6. I can't wait to walk and walk without hurting. I want to be able to do the things at the gym that I can't do now. I haven't been to an amusement park in ages. I love them. I don't want to be the most overweight person in the office. I want to wear heels without pain. Any kind of cute shoe without pain. Clothes...oh my clothes. I can't wait!

  7. Start an exercise routine now. You may lose motivation during your pre op diet but do as much as you can. That way, after you have recovered it will be easier for you to get back to that routine. Start cutting out bad habits now. If you drink soda start weaning yourself off. If you tend to eat lots of sugar start decreasing now. It will help you a ton post op!! The pre op diet sucks but so does the post op so be prepared. This is not easy!! And don’t expect to lose some crazy amount in your first month. Some people do, some people don’t. I have been on a stall for 3 weeks and I’m almost 5 weeks post op. I’ve learned from others that this is pretty normal but I wish I would have been more prepared for it. Although I haven’t lost as much as I thought I would have by now I am happy I did the surgery. I love being able to eat a tiny bit and feel full. I admit though that emotions after surgery tend to be a roller coast ride. Some great days and some not so great!

Thank you sooooo much for this info. Right now I'm at the gym twice a week. Once for a Barre class and once with a trainer. I am going back to Protein Shakes for 2 meals. That should help I think. I need to up my gym days to 3-4 times a week even if it's just to use the treadmill.
