  1. This is why I’be made a decision not to share my surgery with anyone other than family. I tried to tell a very close friend of 15 years and they literally CRAPPED all over WLS and said that “Getting 90% of your stomach cut out is totally going to shorten your life span and destroy your immune system and you obviously need that to live...plus you’re going to have all that extra skin that you’ll have to figure out how to hide or get cut-off is just ridiculous.” So yeah...I realized at that moment I was done sharing anything about my surgery. Obviously this person doesn’t know what they’re talking about and I had my sleeve surgery on 6/13; but it doesn’t change how hurtful those comments and perceptions are. I’m not talking to anyone about it.

  2. Hello All! I’m fairly new also. Had my VSG on 6/13/18. I am super frustrated by my lack of weight loss since surgery! One week ago I had my final weigh in and weighed 306. Then last Wednesday I had my surgery and weighed the same that day. My last real food was Tuesday 6/12. I’m on liquids and have only consumed crystal light, beef broth, Water and sugar free popsicles since my surgery. Today I still weigh 306!!! Is this normal? Has anyone else had weight loss be slow after surgery?
    Thanks for any feedback!

  3. I’m very happy to see this thread. I began my journey back in February. My SW was 338 and CW is 314. Hoping to finally get my surgery date tomorrow. Planning to have a sleeve. I haven’t weighed less than 250 lbs. in over 20 years. I worry it’s not possible!! Have any of you that started over 300lbs. had the sleeve or has everyone done bypass?

    Thanks!

  4. I have not had surgery yet, but my surgeon told me to wait at least one year after having the gastric sleeve before drinking any alcohol and “never” if I decide to have gastric bypass. (Literally said I could never have alcohol again after bypass)
So my guess is that you should definitely not have any alcohol. I would hate for anything bad to happen to you.
