I am so sorry you are going thru this! Please try to get to the bottom of this before giving up. Many of us have a battle(or more) of some sorts with our bodies adjusting to the change that causes us to question our surgery.
For me I developed uncontrollable diarrhea (15-20 times a day and with the worst smell) that put me in the hospital. Every test came back negative and they never did find out what was wrong but eventually found a drug to control it. Went on for over a month and I just noticed today(3 months later) that the horrible smell was finally gone . I was so worried that I was not going to be able to live like that.
Do you go to a support group. Could help talking with others since your mom is not very supportive.
P.S. Just saw you found the problem! Great detective work!

marly18 got a reaction from Frustr8 in Anyone develop Acute Severe Diarrhea
I am 2 months out from my surgery and I developed severe diarrhea a week ago. Just got out of the hospital and they were not able to find anything. The did stool tests and ultrasound and cat scans of my stomach. I also have no appetite at all and if I try to eat even a cracker I feel sooo full for like the next 12 hrs. We all suspect something to do with the surgery. The gastro dr suspects it is related to the cutting of the vagus nerve. Anyone else experience anything like this?

I was not able to tolerate the brand of shakes my dr uses. Severe stomach pain and diarrhea! So I tried some other shakes and also looked up liver shrinking diet. There are a list of foods that you can eat that still promote liver shrinkage which is the reason for the pre-op diet. I did a mix of alternate shakes and foods from the list. Hang in there!

I was up 13 lbs when I got home from the hospital! But they had me so pumped full of fluids cause I had kidney failure during my surgery so I expected it. It dropped off with in a few days then I knew I was on my own in having to get enough fluids

Glad to heal Lilly! That is progress I woke up a little sore today. Must of pushed a little to hard on my stroll last night. I am just getting cabin fever Feel like I am still sleeping a lot too but notice that is during the day and I am full of energy in the evenings and staying up pretty late. Have a friend that keeps reminding me my body needs sleep to heal.
Wishing us a an even better day today!

At the hospital Monday morning at 5:30 am. Wheeled to surgery at 7:30 am. Surgery was suppose to be about 3 hrs. Hubby not called back until 3:30pm. They had problem waking me up. My asthma kicked in and I had acute kidney failure. Didn't get up walking until Wed morning. Came home Thursday and soooo glad to be in my bed! The surgery pain is very minimal. Biggest issue is my back pain from sleeping on those damn hospital beds! So if it weren't for my complications things would have gone a whole lot easier!
Can't wait to start reaching some of my goals like tying shoes, fitting in a booth seat without having to test it to see if I fit before the hostess walks away, and of course buying smaller clothes sizes!

Thx mylighthouse and sorry to hear you are having night sweats. I have that problem as well. My research is pointing to too much estrogen in the body. From what I have read, estrogen is stored in our fat cells so as we lose weight the hormone is released. Let me know if you find any other possible causes.

marly18 got a reaction from Frustr8 in Infection prior to surgery?
UTI antibiotics are pretty specific. You should see about treatment prior to surgery. It is usually a 5 day script so there is time to fix it prior to your surgery.
I went for my final surgery clearance with my surgeon just over 2 weeks out from surgery and ended up having a UTI. Got some meds and he never mentioned it being a problem.

marly18 got a reaction from Biddy zz 🏳️🌈 in Lapband removal
My dr said the area needs to heal before doing the bypass. I thought that was the norm but now I am wondering. hmmmm.
And yea mine suddenly got too tight after not having an adjustment in probably 5 years. Had to have some Fluid removed and felt much better. Have also been having a big problem with night coughs for over a year now and have tried allergy, asthma, and reflux treatments to no avail. Hoping that the removal will help relieve my cough. I have been reading about others with a band having this problem too.

Oh flower! I parted ways with my 9 year old band last December but was hugely lucky enough to get the “All in one” - removal and surgery and my RNY same op - mind you, I had to have open surgery. But now, all is fan-bloody-tastic just 12 weeks later!
My only words of advice - be kind to yourself. You might gain a bit of weight over this time but as far as you can manage, don’t go wild and pack the food in because it will make the post-bypass weightloss that much longer, you’ll regret it. But be kind because unfamiliar hunger will remake your acquaintance! Try and remember your good rules - and be kind when you slip!
    Time will pass...
